M and S Asphalt, UPDATE 1: After 7 months, even parking a car for a week leaves tire impressions approximately an inch deep, and additional portions of the pavement continue to crumble, and water gathers in front of the garage. I would upload pictures sent to M and S but there is no provision for it. UPDATE 2: After many months of calling, texting, etc., M and S finally responded, UNANNOUNCED, and Mac wants to know what the problem is! He starts with, Why did you not call ME? Which was odd since I had been dealing with his son all along and which I HAD called multiple times. Then, it was showing him what poor work that was done, from settling in different areas to impressions where the car would be parked overnight, to showing cracks and finally the large areas where the asphalt had and is still crumbling. He kept repeating, WHY DID YOU NOT CALL ME? Mac, the question should be, Why did your son NOT call you about it? And, why did HE not call me back? IT IS RATHER OBVIOUS. THE SOLUTION? Mac stated that he would come back, remove a portion of the driveway immediately in front of the garage, and put a 2-inch layer over the entire driveway. He informs me that the quarry where he gets the asphalt is currently closed and as soon as it opens, he will be back to resolve the issues. He extends his hand to shake implying his commitment to correcting the issues and drives away. Naturally, I was happy that it would finally be resolved even though it was over a YEAR. But as I waited and waited and waited, and well, you guessed it! It was another no show. I called again and texted again and this is the response: MAC: My son said there is nothing wrong with the driveway. He makes all the decisions now. When I texted the son, his response was: There is nothing wrong with the driveway, I will seal for you at no charge, but I am not repaving it. I make the decisions, not my father. (Of course, why would you offer to seal coat the driveway at no charge IF THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT? UNLESS (1.) You know the paving job was inferior, sloppy, improperly installed without the proper equipment, etc., and you want to make the customer feel that by giving them something free, this will compensate for the poor work and you will not say anything, OR (2.) You want to seal over and hide the crumbling, soft, improperly laid, and rolled asphalt so that it is no longer visible and therefore cannot be noticed. And, why would the father continually state: Why did you not call ME? if he did not have the authority to make decisions for the company? This unprofessionalism by a company that boasts of so many years in business yet would be so unwilling to correct their poor job, prompted me to write this honest and revealing review, not just to have it corrected, but to warn anyone and avoid the mess they created. UPDATE 3: Noticing that a neighbor was having their driveway seal coated, I was solicited by that company to have mine done. It led to a discussion about the poor job of paving on mine to which remarks were made about how their company would never have done the job in the manner that was done on mine. Many faults were pointed out which only confirmed the above review. UPDATE 4: I had asked a visitor from out of state who has had a successful REAL paving business for over 45 years to evaluate the driveway. Without pointing to anything or prepping him with what they did, he pointed out all the numerous flaws (mentioned in this review) and could tell right away why it happened. BOTTOM LINE Poor communication, Poor equipment, Poor service, Poor quality, Poor accountability to correct the job.
