    They were the first to respond of the three I contacted. Mark got back to me with a quote right away. I was still waiting for other quotes by the time Mark had finished all the work. AND he was the lowest quote by far. The work his team did was outstanding. I can be a very picky person. I want the people I hire to do as good a job as I would do myself or better since they are the pros. Markland did not disappoint.

    We hired Mark to do a variety of work on our home. He completed the biggest (and highest paying) job of painting our deck, partially completed the next job (for which he was paid in full), then never returned. We contacted him multiple times, at first he gave us assurances he would come back and finish the smaller jobs, but he never showed up. Eventually he quit returning our calls and texts. The quote for painting our deck on its own, was higher than other bids we received. However his total cost when including the other work was competitive, which is why hired him. We wouldn't have hired him without his bids and commitment to do the other work. Unfortunately, he only did the highest paying job, and left us hanging on the rest. I do not recommend him.

    Wow this is unfortunate. 1. We completed the deck project professionally at a fair price. We worked very hard to complete this quickly as the home owners were having a party within a day of completion. It turned out beautifully! so to score our quality low can't possibly be an accurate reflection of this job given the steps we had taken to ensure quality. in addition: if our numbers were higher on this project it could not have been by much. we even removed a rusted out bbq grill for these folks and disposed of it so they didn't have It laying around for the party ( however, I still have a gas conversion line to return to them). 2. Regarding The project they are referring to as paid in full but not completed. I believe this was power washing the home siding. all areas were complete with the exception of one. The area left was at the front porch at a location where a different contractor was working on masonry steps ( also a project that we bid on but did not win). This area would have been damaged had we soaked it with water. also this area did not show mildew as the other areas we cleaned. it was a professional decision to avoid damaging the other contractors work. 3. as for the "smaller jobs". these projects were bid at an hourly rate. No money was given for these projects. However, due to the work load we experienced this season It is true that my scheduling of these items fell short. And as a result we were not able to accommodate this customer before the winter season. ( my communication could have been better but I never vanished) It has always been my intention to get these items on my spring calendar for completion. regardless of this poor scoring review It is my intention to repair our reputation with this customer as soon as possible. we are in business to stay in business. quality and customer satisfaction is important to me. Mark Baughner Markland Services, Inc. UPDATE: we returned first thing last April and completed the power washing this customer requested at no charge. We also completed all of the other items these folks wanted. ( excavation and repair of downspout and drainage under the deck, we even secured the under deck gas line for easy grill connection at no charge, replacement of high exterior spot lamps requiring use of a 40 ft ladder, gutter cleaning, and trouble shooting exterior electrical fixtures. unfortunately, the electrical system needs further evaluation to determine exact causes of failure. this requires interior evaluation. the homeowners have paid in full for the new work completed.     Delay from time of quote in completing the work. Work originally not completed to the quote. He did come back to complete. Quality of the work not worth the cost.

    Unfortunately weather plays a role in much of what we do. I will say i believe this was the case with our service delay here. When we wash and seal decks we need 3-4 days with dry warm weather. this allows one full day between washing and sealing. We finished the deck, steps, and railings as planned but needed to return to seal the supporting posts and beam. We even left a full gallon of sealer with the homeowner after completion. I am not sure why this customer scored us low on quality as our methods are efficient and professional. regardless, I thank you for your business and I wish this customer all the best in future endeavors.
