Mark's Painting

They completely underestimated the time it took to do the job, and have not finished it. They promised that they will come back and touch-up the painting where they've missed it on the kitchen cabinets, so I paid them fully. They never came back, so the painting job is actually not finished. They said they'd come back on Monday, but did not. On Tuesday Mark called and said he'd come back on Friday. On Friday he did not show up, and on Sunday he called and said that he had never really promised. So they did NOT come back after all. If you hire them, do NOT pay them fully until they actually finish the job completely because you cannot trust them!!!! Also they contracted to paint 3 doors, and I have assumed that it meant BOTH sides and the EDGES of the doors, but they have painted only one side of each door! So do clarify what they mean by "painting a door", if you hire them for that. Ask if they mean BOTH sides! They were not honest as to what they know how to do. The main job would have been to put in an attic access in the hallway. Mark said he cannot come out for such a small job. So we added the kitchen cabinets and walls. Mark said he'd add in the attic access for free (which I did not ask for; I believe in paying for work). But he asked for a good chunk of money, so I figured he'd calculated the attic access in. He ended up never doing the attic access, and when we asked about it, he said that he offered to do that for free, so it does not count if he did not do it after all (i.e. he felt that did not "short us" by not doing that job). Overall, they did a good job on the walls (texturing and painting), but they did not sand the cabinets, did not fill in the small defects (dents, holes, etc), just painted over them, and missed areas when putting on the second coat. So those areas are now visible. I paid them fully, and never came back to touch those up.
