Spray Foam Insulation Installation
MEL did a spray foam insulation of my attic last fall. This was a complex job as it required careful co-ordination with separate HVAC and electrician teams (we were also replacing HVAC, which is located in the attic, and upgrading our electric wiring infrastructure). The MEL team was a blast to work with and did an outstanding job - and I don't use such adjectives freely when describing contractor work around our house. First, Mo went to great lengths to assess our attic and propose the right solution .. for example, during the proposal process, he was the only one out of 5 contractors who crawled into a narrow space in a distant part of the attic to inspect it. Second, the work the team did, was truly first class .. we went from massive ice dams before to literally not a single icicle hanging from the roof last winter! I was also very pleased with the clean-up they did, with two rounds of detail-like vacuuming of the attic. Third, MEL's co-ordination with HVAC and electricians was very effective, in spite of major hiccups with our HVAC contractors. Finally, these guys really understand and live the concept of 'customer focus'; their communication is very professional, and it is not unusual that they respond within an hour! The only weakness I would point out was their carpentry subcontractor (Adilson), who left a small piece of work unfinished and I felt he overcharged us for a minor change order. This spring, I hired MEL again to do a smaller project involving rim joint insulation in the basement. Josue led the project, while Mo was on vacation. The experience was as positive as the attic experience. I would recommend MEL without any reservations.

Very professional. They were able to do the job on our tight schedule (selling the property). Work was excellent, quality was great, and they did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. We have since recommended them to others. MassSave did an energy audit afterwards and commented on how well the work had been done. Very pleased.

I have had Mass Energy Lab Insulation insulate my garage, my attic, my basement as well as the walls of my entire home over the last 5 years and what has impressed me the most is that they have been consistently getting better. First dealing with Mo and now with Josue over the last two years, its always been first rate. Wish they did more than insulation, I would certainly be seeing more of them.

I hired Mass Energy Lab to install spray foam in our small attic. While I didn't ask directly if Mass Energy would be completing the job at the time I signed the contract (I assumed) I would have preferred that it had been communicated. The two men who arrived to do the job were very nice but seemed unfamiliar with the specifics of the project, specifically that we would be finishing the space. They left the foam unshaved and, more alarming, had foam touching an existing chimney. My contact at Mass Energy was very understanding but the result was a week delay for our install of drywall. Overall, they were understanding and worked to finish the job to our standards.

We usually do accommodate all installs within 2 weeks so it should definitely have been emphasized. I see that we were able to come in 5 days later to take care of the foam however, it did cause a delay in your project and that's why we humbly offered a discount on the project for the inconvenience Paul, in charge of the install needs to know whether the attic will be finished or not and it wasn't communicated well to him, hence the fall off here. Its our sincere regret. Things would have been so smooth had we not missed these details. Your pointing that out is so helpful and a reminder that we are only as good as weakest link. We will continue to improve our communication systems. Thank you for your feedback on your experience with your contact, Josue Valdez. He is actually our Chief Engineer. With our company you would just deal with one person from start to finish and that's why he was able to be understanding, responsive and work to finish the job exactly to your standards. We only work on homes so of course, a delay in the project, although extremely rare for us, is a huge inconvenience for you because you need to take time off from work and spend time rescheduling other folks. We finally had foam insulation put in the attic to help prevent ice dams that like those that caused so much damage in Feb 2015. Mo and his team were wonderful! They explained everything: what type of insulation should go where, what insulation needed to be removed, proper venting, etc. They were on time, professional, and even cleaned-up after the work was complete. We haven't been through another winter, yet, but I know they did a great job because three other professionals (an air conditioning specialist, a home inspector, and an appraiser) were all in our attic during one of the hottest weeks this summer and they all said the same thing..."this is the coolest attic I've been in all summer."

It has only been a few days (and they have been warmer than anticipated), but I can say that Mo and Josue from Mass Energy Lab were both very honest and forthcoming with the work to be done.
