I'm going to write an honest review without too much emotions. My first project (stairs wood replacement) went well. So I called him (I believe he goes by JR) again for our second (same reno) project and it's where I saw a similar pattern of unprofessionalism that I saw but ignored before. He'll call you and start the project ASAP and ask for a large amount of down payment, he starts working full day the first couple of days and stops turning up leaving all the equipment, trash, dirts, infinie amount of dust on site.. he frequently came at dinner time(we have kids and pets)and spent a couple of hours, then not coming again. If I complain about my unhappiness about not knowing when he'll come, he furiously defends himself saying how amazing he is and how I'm rushing him.. etc etc it's all about him and his 'amazing' work without any consideration of the customers time requirement. We agrees on a price and will keep raising up bc he's so amazing. Wow big mistake. At the end I was done with him, told him not to come back bc I'm done waiting. Now I have an unfinished job. Go somewhere else. I do not recommend him at all unless your project is considerable $$$ then he'll focus on you bc there's more money in it. For any job under $10k he won't take it seriously in terms of timing. He's very rude and disrespectful in his text communication as well.

Had a wonderful experience working with JR. He went above and beyond in recommending finishing touches that added great value. I would definitely recommend Master’s Touch and would use for additional projects.

Junior is courteous, kind and fair. He does excellent work snd does not skip corners. After having other contractors and getting a lot of poor work, run arounds and extreme prices, we found Junior honest, competent and very skilled!! Highly recommended!!!

They are a total pleasure to work with. After working with cranky workers for past projects, this team is a breath of fresh air. Work is top notch because they really care about the people and the house. I was so lucky to find them and would definitely recommend them.

Disaster from start to finish. Unprofessional. constant haggling then did not do what was agreed upon when I brought up that the work was not what we agreed to stormed out mid-job. What incomplete work was done had to all be done. According to the contract who Can afterward: **The drywall repair looked like it was done by my 10-year-old** Waste of time. Waste of money. Stay away at all costs.
Response from Master's Touch
"Your Money was refunded. Home repairs are the customers issue, not the contractors."

JR and Tony did a good job but JR?s pricing was not acceptable, it was bartering only. I?m sure I paid too much but I did need the work done.

If we could give 0 stars, we would. Jose Ruiz (*JR*) is part salesman, part handyman (though not good at it), and all con man. He fancies himself as a visionary designer and do-it-all craftsman, but he is a fraud. Our experience with him was awful. JR did not show up on days he said he would and did not show up on time. There were days he called in the morning to say he would be at our home in the afternoon, but never showed up. There were days, we believe, JR smelled of marijuana. When I asked him about work that was done differently than we had discussed, he blamed his employee and said his employee did not listen to him. Also, because he knew we recently moved in the house, he looked up the purchase price and, I believe, looked into what we did for our jobs in order to charge us more. JR talks a lot (see statement about being a salesman and con man) but, other than making excuses, does not have much useful to say. JR refused to provide a written estimate at the start of his work and refused to provide a written itemization of the cost of the work or materials, even after we had paid him thousands of dollars. He provided an oral estimate of $6,000 to tile our floors. Because he quoted us a price below another estimate and promised to take care of us, we had him do the work before we realized his work was not satisfactory. When he was approximately 80% done with the work, he said the price was going to be $14,000-16,000 due to the cost of the materials he needed to level the floor and increased labor. We learned from a tiler that he should have used a self-leveling underlayment to level the floor, but chose to use Duroc, mortar, and our new tile. Even so, the Duroc should cost less than $1,000 and the cost of the mortar was so much because he improperly used about 3 times the amount needed. Even though we bought extra tile, before Masters Touch finished the 2 main rooms, we had to buy more tile because JR used new tile to level the floor. The job was so bad that we are going to have to start over, buy new tile, and pay someone to remove the tile even though it will cost a significant amount to do so. the work is sub-standard. This is what other professionals told us. One group of tilers said the job was *bad* and *unprofessional* due to numerous deficiencies. A 2nd group rated the work as 2 out of 10. A builder described JRs exterior work as *terrible* because of the haphazard manner in which JR nailed wood and for his failure to use flashing. He caused damage to our house, including: extra holes in our wall for the mirror he hung, hardwood floor that had its finish removed, paint ripped off walls, cracked wood flooring, clogged vents and drains by putting cement and mortar in them. JR did not finish projects he started and for which he was paid, even though he had months to do so before we fired him. We had garbage outside our house for weeks before the police made him take it. I have holes in walls outside and inside my house and stone that was not re-attached because JR did not complete the work. He called this work easy peasy and promised to complete it, but never did. We will have to pay someone else to complete JR s work. JRs *work* will cost us more money to fix the problems he caused. We called the police before we fired JR and after he started to threaten me on the phone. Our house had some issues with rotted wood. JR called the house a *sh**ty house*, but it is much worse after he worked on the house than it was before he touched it. JR thinks he has a masters touch and was adding value to the house. In reality, he was worse than an amateur, he was incompetent. He over-charged for shoddy work and did not complete work for which he was paid. Our house is much worse after having Masters Touch touch it.

I wasnâ t sure about how the price was decided but JRâ s attention to detail and not sticking with just a â put it upâ mindset was what I was looking for. Iâ m not doing anything fancy but I want a good outcome and I feel thatâ s happened. By the way, weâ re not done.

Be careful with this contractor, he plays pricing games. I hired him to do some drywall work and add baseboards around a couple doorways (less than 8 FT of baseboard required for the job). When he came to look over the project requirements, he verbally gave me a price of $1500 and asked for a $600 deposit (check), which I gave him. Came back on 8/1 with Rafael to start the job and completed about 90% of the drywall work. JR then asked for an additional $200 dollars due to unforeseen issues, which there were none, he basically said that if I wanted the drywall to look even it would require more time. Isn't making the drywall look even part of doing drywall work? Then he tried to say that there were other things going on that required more money. I agreed on the extra $200. So, I gave him $600 before the work started. $500 on the first day and had planned on giving him the remaining money upon his return which I had hoped would be this week since the baseboard arrived on 8/9. He also stated he would need to make 4 visits to my home to finish the work which would justify the $1700. So far, only 1 visit (started promptly at 9 and left about 3:30) and no word from him. Extremely disappointing experience. Also, I bought all the material except the bead board and the joint compound. I coordinated getting the baseboard with Woodmac Industries and painted it. Please make sure to get a detailed quote in writing that includes all labor and all material costs and perhaps something to cover you for "Unforeseen issues that pop up" which there will be some, I will guarantee you that. Also, consider timing of payments.

Incredibly passionate about quality. Very clean, efficient, and on schedule. I wish JR had been more upfront about pricing and spent the time to come over to see the project in order to provide a more accurate estimate. Overall, very satisfied with how things turned out.

The workers of Master’s Touch are currently preparing my house for sale. They put up some drywall, painted walls and ceilings, and did a lot of other little things they found while inspecting my house. The company owner, JR, is friendly and spends time talking with the customer so that the customer is fully aware of what is happening. I would definitely recommend. Master’s Touch.

JR is a blessing for real! I felt like my house was falling apart but from the moment he came to give me a quote, it felt like a win for me. He showed me pictures of his other work and he took the time to have an actual conversation with me about what I needed so I knew I was in good hands from the start. Raphael came a few days after to complete the project, he was nice, neat, and did a phenomenal job. I stopped showing people pictures of my kids and now only show pictures of my drywall! I can not thank them enough and I am so excited for future projects!

The Master's Touch crew are professionals. They're not JUST superb craftsmen...though they are! They solve problems as they crop up! Whether it's a case of a materials provider not cutting things to correct size, or a client providing the wrong hardware for a project, these guys don't whine and complain about the situation! They act to solve the problem! That's why I call them "professionals"! And THAT'S why I'll be calling on them again!

First time I've hired someone for professional work in my apartment. Given this was a new experience for me, i'll frame this so others in my position have some context about stuff like this. Bottom line: Hired J.R. and team to do an initial electrical wiring project (installing outlets on front and back deck). The team did an excellent job from a work quality perspective and I got the benefit of learning some useful tips along the way. Subsequently, i hired him again to hardline Cat6 Ethernet throughout unit. For first time home project people: No matter what project you consider hiring for, there is ALWAYS the unknown of how long a project can take. An honest professional should acknowledge this immediately. Also, despite the temptation to think prices are set, there will be factors that move price up and down because every house/apartment/project is different. Honestly, this works both ways. I discussed each project with J.R. and he addressed both of these factors from the get-go, which was appreciated. The job took longer than the initially forecasted completion date (see above point), but this was not something that altered my opinion given finished product. The only reason i gave 4.5 out of 5 was a miscommunication on a small (minor) aspect on the first project......HOWEVER, the quality of work was excellent and I hired him again for another job (the second job was substantially larger). His team is excellent (quiet/polite, and efficiently gets job done). Apartment was left immaculate after each working session. As a homeowner, I benefitted from his team from a quality of work perspective and an educational perspective. I already have had him included in my HOA's contact list. His team worked around my schedule and even did saturday and sunday drop ins.
