Mathews General Maintenance

Worst experience I have ever had. Hired him to fix a door frame after the door had been kicked down. Original quote was $300 for 3 hours. 12 hours and $700 later the door is crooked, the frame is crooked, the trim is crooked. The door does not close right, he installed the nob and deadbolt incorrectly, and there are gaps in the door. He relies on calk to fix any holes, but a 4th grader could do a better job. On top of all that he was drinking the whole time he was working. Do not hire this man or this company as you will only be more frustrated and angry than when your problem first occurred.

Everything has to be done his way. He does not know about chain link fences. Mr. Matthews on Sunday bought 3 6ft pipes for a 5 ft fence. I told him he need 8 ft pipes for a 5 ft fence. He got mad and said to me he was going to do it his way or leave. His worker told him that I was right. The pipes were repaired. He ran the cable and clipsto high up on the fence. He came back Monday to do the other fence cables. I told him I wanted it done my way with the cable underneath the fence and clipped to the bottom of the fence. About 60 ft, the cable was to high up on the fence again. I paid him $300 and told him you did it your way. I will take care of it.

Hired Mr. Matthews to do concrete work. He brought in a sub contractor who did an unsatisfactory job. The Slabs he built forms and poured concrete for are no where near the level (2 1/2 drop along on edge) that would safely support a 3000 gallon water tanks,

At first, Fred Matthew Jr was very friendly nice, and put on a show basically. Hired him for windows to be replaced. I was not able to be home for the repairs to evaluate the work only my mother was able to be there. I just received pictures. And from the pictures, it looked like a good job. Windows got finished, then we decided to get a door replaced and sent him the money because at this point thought he was doing a good job, so I paid upfront for the door, something came up, and needed the money back on a project he never started and now no response from him and 3 Windows started to leak and 1 was cracked so, I told him about it and he said he would fix it but never did. Watch out for this company. I learned my lesson about trying to trust the people you hired to do a job.

Fred was amazing! He was prompt in his quote, and his work was very thorough and well done. He replaced our rotting fence between us and our neighbors and our gateâ s latch. When our neighborâ s dogs got out by no fault of his, he placed them back in their yard. I would highly recommend him and would use him again.

Did a great job building our fence. Good price too.

Fred Matthews was paid for, and agreed to complete a list of tasks that he didnâ t complete. In the middle of the project, he requested additional money ($1500), which he said was needed up front in order to complete one of the items he agreed to on the original list. I, regretfully paid him the additional money in full. He didnâ t show up, on more than one occasion, as he said he would. When I asked for the second $1500 to be returned bc he hadnâ t even started the job, he said he would return it. After waiting three days, I phoned and texted him, but he never responded. UPDATE UPDATE I went to the HomeAdvisor process and we came to an agreement, I have the partial refund for services not performed

Fred Matthews did an above average job. My dryer exhaust had a very circuitous path to the outside, including a 90 degree turn. With all the wet weather, the backed up lint was damp giving my laundry room an unpleasant odor. Mr Matthews put in new tubing eliminating the 90 degree turn. My dryer is much more efficient and the damp odor is gone. He was worth every penny!

He was running a little behind schedule but texted me promptly to let me know. Nice. Polite. Worked quickly.

I appreciate their overall effort. They exceeded my expectations on a very difficult project. I intend to use them on some of my future improvement projects.
