Jake, the person measuring for the bid gave me some great advice about items to consider. Steven and his crew did a stellar job of installation. The quality of their work was great and they were professional, prompt, and a pleasure to work with. First, let me say I love my floors. I appreciated the tips you gave me initially about flooring type (no bamboo) and continuity. My home looks so much bigger now. Of course, that is also the reason you got the bid. Second, Steven and the crew did a stellar job of installation. Prompt , reliable, quality work, and a pleasure to work with. Iwas very disappointed in the cost overruns, which totaled $750, or 20 percent over the estimate. That amount seems excessive for an original bid of $3,500.

I would never hire Maurer Flooring again. The salesman (co-owner) said the job would take a week and they would have 4 men in for the tear out. On the first day 1 man showed up at 11:00 AM and the other at 11:30. The 2nd man was drunk. They started the tear out and put the debris on the driveway. The 2nd day the assistant was again drunk and I asked that he not continue on the job. The lead man agreed and the next day he had another helper who was not a floor installer, but kept busy and was polite. The 3rd day nobody showed up. No call, just a no show. The job dragged on for 2 weeks and the floor looks good but there is considerable damage to several doorways and walls. The owner of the company disposed of the asbestos debris at a dump where he said "They don't ask any questions." I took the rest to the Metro dump station and paid the fee. The lead man was a good worker despite his inability to show up on time. He was quite frustrated by the end of the job because he was not able to get any support from his bosses.

"We made a mistake in measuring Dave G.'s home and left out a room in our calculations. It was almost 200 sq ft that got missed during adding up the total square foot of his home. The day we measured his floors my wife was in labor giving birth to our son, so I had my business partner do the measuring. That is usually my job so he wasn't used to it and made this mistake. His wife was 48 hours from going into labor herself, so needless to say we were both distracted. None the less the mistake was made. When it was discovered that we were going to be way short on material we went back and figured out what happened. Dave G did not take it well at all. He was upset to the point where now nothing we could do would make him happy. We made it right, as we always will when there is a mistake on our end. We PAYED for $850 in material for him and did $1,100 worth of installation and prep ALL FOR FREE. Almost $2,000 discount off we gave him in order to make it up to him. I always say everyone makes mistakes, it's how you fix it that matters and we went above and beyond. Still he calls us drunks and says it was bad quality but before the miscalculation he was happy as could be."

We added hard wood around areas that had already had it. We were worried about matching wood for grain and color and there refinish for the older wood was a perfect match. On time on budget.

Our house is about 100 years old and had the original wood floors which were in pretty sad shape. Jake came out, measured, and gave us an estimate a few days later. We had already decided on the amount we were willing to pay for the floors, and his bid was $1.20 over. He was helpful in deciding on the wood and type. We went with the natural oak; perfect. The crew showed up on time, great job, all very friendly, and knew what they were doing. Would definitely recommend them, and would use them again.
