The customer service pre-job was good to great. They came by doing dry knocks in my neighborhood and I literally had just been looking for tree specialists. We agreed upon $1000 to trim and cut a tree upfront, the bushes surrounding the house, remove small trees in the back yard, and remove some leaves on the side and in the back. (Pushing them further down the back slope in the backyard was the expectation and that was fine with me.) The owner and I talked later that night and he requested a deposit, but we ended up agreeing to pay in full the day of. That is great. This was 4 weeks away from the job. A week before, the owner called to confirm, and that was great. Day of: They were supposed to arrive between 9-10, and they did. Closer to 9 actually. That is great. Not so great parts: The guy (1 of 2) appeared to be high and all over the place. TBH, though this was startling, ( I mean from a consumer point of view, I work in mental health and substance use) he was very nice and had good customer service for it not to be his company, so it is the point more than he posed an issue. Other than the fact of coming to the door asking for snacks and drinks later, which he did, and leaving wrappers in my yard, which he did, it was not an issue. He stated that they had their one blower taken and was waiting to complete a big job to purchase another one. One blower company-wide I suppose. I thought maybe the owner subcontracts. I take ownership of the fact that at this point, I should have said no thank you I will get someone else. I proceeded on though. He asked for a ladder because they did not have one to do tree work. They did not have a ladder. The work: I will start with the good: The trees removed from the back were cut down but not removed. That said, for the price, they cut them pretty low to the ground and it looks better. Not 100% satisfied but it looks good. No complaints. The not so good. The trim job on all of the bushes leaves more to be desired. They did not actually trim then they cut one side off a couple of bushes. Not topped them, but on one bush the cut the left side off. On another bush which began to cover the driveway, they cut the overhanging part, but it is not clean nor crisp. The trees on one side of the house were not trimmed but topped. The guy said he could not get them even so he just whacked them. Folks I am literally laughing as I type this because in retrospect, there were numerous times I should have said stop, load up your stuff and do not worry about it. The tree I needed trimmed and topped, again, the guy said he could not trim it properly, but cut it down. It took three times and me going under the tree to show him where it was either still touching the house or where it would be in a month time. At the end of the day, the cut the tree down about half the size and cut the tree off of the house. It is not trimmed folks. It is a raggedy, cut down, off the house tree. I paid a discounted rate due to them not being able to blow. But also, because of them not being able to blow, there are limbs and tree trash in the street in front of my house. And in my driveway to a lesser degree. You are asking why did not call/text the owner. I did multiple times and texted to no avail. I was originally prepared to pay more for the tree job and the leaves. Honestly, greed won when I was quoted a great price. I still have not heard from the owner. The job was done on 2/26 and today is 2/27. I left texts saying they were not prepared for the job and said as much to the workers. I cannot imagine anyone not related to this guy who got anything other than trees removed got 5 star service. If you need anything done professionally or done exceptionally well, shell out the extra money. I definitely wish I had.
