Melvin Cabinets and Countertop Installations

CONSUMERS PLEASE READ!!!!THIS PERSON SCAMMED ME OUT OF $700.00. IF ANYONE HIRE HIM AFTER THIS REVIEW: YOU HAVE GIVE AWAY MONEY. Melvin is posing as a contractor. He is an imposter. SHAME ON HOME ADVISORS FOR LISTING THIS PERSON AS A PRO. After 4 hours of work, work that was a mess: he asked for 50% of the cost he quoted me to replace 2 bathroom counter tops and kitchen counter tops with a breakfast bar: with laminate material. He said my job would take 3 days. He also said he couldn't get to my job for two weeks and would give me a 72 hour notice. ALL LIES. He called the next day saying he was in my area and my materials for my job have arrived and he wanted to remove my counters tops. OMG!!!he tore my walls up and made a mess. Before he left, I asked how he wanted to be paid because this was the Friday before Memorial Day and where I banked was closed and banks closed on Monday. If the job was to be done in three day a check was my option. So I told him I'll write a check. He really didn't want a check but I asked him did he have a card reader: he said, No and he had no cash app, apparently, he thought I had that amount of cash. He had no other choice but to get paid by check when the job was finish. The next day Saturday, he worked 3 hrs.trying to replace install the laminate kitchen top which was a mess and the bathroom tops. The laminated hadn't bonded to the wood surface and all edges were sharpe as a knife. The bathroom sink had screws protruding above the surface on the sink and several holes on the face surface. While trying to replace the sinks water was running everywhere. I got all kind of red flags warnings that something wasnt right, but I was hoping he would pull it off. I WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!!! He said he went off and forgot the kitchen counter, the kitchen breakfast bar and the backsplash for the bathrooms and kitchen. After 3 hrs of working or moving fast like he knew what he was doing my place still looked a mess. He asked for 50% of the job cost: this was still on Saturday his second day. He was suppose to return on Monday (which was a holiday) I never heard from him. He tx me on Tuesday saying the bank is holding the check I wrote him because he didnt have funds to cover it and it had to clear my bank first. He said he need money to finish the job. My account showed the check pending. He was to finish the mess he created on Wednesday, but he never showed up. After talking to him, I told him I would give him until 10:00 a.m on Thursday to show up (now I'm at a week of my place being a mess) because I had company visiting over the weekend: but I never heard from him. I felt I had been SCAMMED. After a week of going back and forth with this guy. He knew he wasnt going to finish the job and got my money: I still have to get the work done. What type of person has a conscience to rip others off when we all are trying too make it. We are a retired couple and wanted to save money by not using a commercial vendor, but in reality we've paid more. I personally thought Home Advisor check these people out, I should have read the reviews thoroughly because there was a customer that said her job never got done. HE's COMING IN Trying TO IMPRESS The CUSTOMER ask for money and never returns. DON'T GIVE THIS MAN ANY MONEY. This is a SCRAM!!!!!

He did a very good job. I had to change plans and it caused him more work, that he did great. Other work was completed scheduled work was not.

Great job and went the extra mile to help install my new dishwasher after cutting down and moving cabinets to make way for it. And he did it without breaking the granite countertops- something I was very worried about. I would bring him back in a heartbeat especially since he was listed as a cabinet and countertop expert and ended up doing all the plumbing for the new appliance. A professional with multiple talents!
