Reviews
Write a ReviewCrook. Legal action is being taken against him. Did not complete a single one of the items he was paid to do. Disappeared with our money and unpaid vendor bills. He is a con man who talks a big game but who is dishonest and unlicensed. Beware. Beware. Beware.
He left the job unfinished and stood me up 4 times!!
I recently submitted a review for Julio Mendez. I wrote the first review and finished paying him when he still needed to come back one more time to put in the threshold for three doors, install the bathtub hardware, complete the crown molding in the kitchen, and finish installing the dishwasher. Mr. Mendez never came back to do this work or finish cleaning up the mess made by the work he did. I have spoken to him numerous times over the past 6 weeks and he has given me dates he would be here and never showed up. I have had many excuses about why he did not show up and now I get no response from him at all. I have just had to hire someone else to come and finish the work since I am handicapped with a heart condition and cannot do the work myself. I was happy with the work he did do, he was nice, punctual, and kept us informed when any changes came up. I tried everything to get him to come back and finish and hate to give a bad review to anyone that might affect their livelihood but I would not feel right having someone hire him based on my review and have the same thing happen to them.
ð was excellent outstanding work and price
Fast work
Quality work completed to agreed cost and schedule. True to estimate. Ethical and forthright in communication and commitments. Definitely someone I would recommend and choose to work with again.
Very professional polite and he had good communication and covered my floors to keep them clean ð very good service I was very pleased with his work
Julio with Mendez Construction was on time for the job and very knowledgeable about the work to be done. He was not only courteous, he also went the extra mile by going back to Home Depot to pick up materials I did not have. I will use him for future jobs, and I will also recommend him to everyone I know.
Julio asked for a $400 deposit on a $750 job, I gave it to him. He was asked to break out a 3x5 section of concrete decking, and repour it with cement. Also to form a previously broken out 4x10 section and pour it with concrete. He started forming the 4x10 section, and I advised him that a 2 overhang is required to match the existing decking. He was also asked to dispose of the broken concrete from the 4x10 section. After he formed it, he left to get concrete. The broken concrete was in a pile that was inaccessible after the forming he did. I did not want him to be wheelbarrowing it across any wet cement. So my wife and I moved the concrete to an accessible location on the other side of the forms. The next day, he returned with 35 bags. He unloaded 25 bags and told his helper they were going to return 10. (I discovered later that the unit cost when 35 is purchased is less than when less than 25 is purchased. That is why he purchased 35.) He and his helper unloaded the 25 and loaded the broken concrete, and he would return the next day. He arrived and poured the 4x10 section with concrete. At that time he asked me for ANOTHER $200! I told him NO, no more payments until the job is finished! He then began breaking up the smaller 3x5 section and decided he needed a jackhammer. And said he would return. DURING THAT ACTIVITY HE BROKE OUT 10 FEET OF NEWLY INSTALLED DECK TILE! AND NEVER TOLD ANYONE!! He then left for the day, and HAS NOT returned! Two days later he called me and told me to find someone else! The POUR job on the 4x10 is the worst concrete pour I have ever seen! He DID NOT do any kind of a finish trowel or even remove the forms! The finish is extremely porous, (from the forms being left on), and the forms were incorrect and DID NOT HAVE THE OVERHANG!!! AS A RESULT... My son and I broke out the remaining 3x5 section, purchased additional cement, and poured it OURSELVES! Also, I had to pay to have the BROKEN TILES replaced! As this was the FIRST experience I have had with an UNLICENSED -- CONTRACTOR, it has been a very, very bad experience.
As soon as I paid this contractor, he left, and never returned to complete the work.
