BEWARE! Please know that I have tried to reach the owner, Courtney, several times (calling, texting, and messenger) with no reply. I hired Messick Construction through HomeAdvisor in March of 2020 to replace wood deck boards with composite on our second-floor deck. Pretty straight forward. However, upon the first major rain, we started to notice water coming through the patio room underneath in two different locations. I tried calling Courtney and texting him several times to no avail. It was like he completely vanished. So I reached out to the developments HOA and they found several issues with the job they performed. They did not seal around the 4x4 posts so rain water just leaked down the side into the ceiling below. They also used way too long deck screws and thus they punctured the substructures rubber membrane. So now I have hundreds of little holes to deal with. As a result, I now have to pay over $5000 to have all the boards removed, have the rubber membrane replaced and the deck boards replaced again. Thanks, Courtney! You took a $3000 job that is now going to cost me over $8000 when it is all done. Needless to say, I will be taking him to small claims.

Their communications are terrible, they do not do what they say they are going to do, many no show no calls, terrible business person. They should not be in business. They lie continuously about when they are going to come and do the work.

I paid this contractor over $4000 and the work has not been completed and I have not been able to reach him since May

I hired Courtney to build a deck, we signed a contract, pd him a deposit, Covid had just started, every time I email him he has an excuse and never follows thru, the last time I talked to SP he said he was going to start last week, yesterday I emailed Courtney, no response

I signed a contract for the first week in May. I thought we had finally found a good, reliable contractor here in DE. I wrote him a check for 1/2 the contract value with the balance due upon completion of the project. I had two material deliveries to my house in the first week of June. The permit was pulled in the second week of June. I was excited because our deck was finally going to get built. I have had nothing but problems since the material deliveries. I cannot get in touch with him by phone due to his phone message mailbox is always full and will not allow any more messages. When I finally do get in touch with him he tells me he will be right there and never shows and does not call me to explain why he could not make it. I finally sent him a letter expressing my displeasure and letting him know that I would start legal proceedings to get the contract nullified, the material out of my yard and my money returned. He got right back in touch with me and came the next Monday. He dug 6 holes for footers, demoed one set of existing steps, and left. If I had not seen them putting their tools back in the truck he would not have even told me he was leaving. I again tried to call him with the same result, full mailbox. I sent him another email and just asked him if he really wanted to do this job. If he did not I was willing to let him go as long as he picked up all his material and refunded me my entire deposit. That was yesterday, 7/8/2020, and I have yet to hear from him. I have now heard from the contractor. I still need some answers regarding schedule, inspections, etc. Stay tuned.

Paid in January. 6 months later, the project is incomplete. I am tired of reaching out to him for completion. We have an attorney in the family and will have to pursue this in court. More excuses than one can believe.

I hired Courtney, signed a contract on February 2, we told him we wanted the work to started March 20, he has only been here 2 times, once to drop off of windows and did some framing the other time, every time I talk to him he always has an excuse and never follows thru, In May we were told he will complete the job on June 2, when the job was not done then was told June 18, did not finish, I spoke to Courtney last week, I told him I was not happy and all he said is he knows

We love the work Courtney and his crew did. Look forward to enjoying the porch this summer.

Messick Construction answered any of the questions we had. Courtney handled all of the HOA paperwork. He did an excellent job. Great quality, craftsmanship and dependable. Our family is looking forward to enjoying our summer outside.

Courtney and his team are very professional, he is a master carpenter! I strongly recommend him, his work is first class and our deck is perfect. We would hire him again for our home projects. Courtney is a all around carpenter and a wonderful craftsman. He doesn't hesitate to go outside of his comfort zone, and everything he has done for me has turned out perfectly
