Mark took money and never even started the job. Numerous excuses were used to delay while I was dealing with flooding issues.

MHRAC owes his vendors money. He operates like a con artist. After his initial sales pitch and full court press, he will try to add costs to your job through changes. He will lie and try to collect money before any work is complete. He will try to collect on payment milestone and show up on Friday and ask for payment on partially complete milestones trying to convince you that it is basically done as he appears to have difficulty making payroll. He will get upset if questioned. The product is Poor quality work. His employees and subs are not very strong or experienced. It took a drywall & paint guy almost 4 weeks (he was there most days on his phone) to do one room where 2 walls already existed and a small closet was added. I had to go back and have the whole thing repainted afterward. They have no clue what they are doing and There is very poor communication between Mark and whatever guys he has that day. You will only see Mark when he needs money. On my job he hired undocumented (not certified for trades) and unlicensed workers and claimed that the work was going to cost more and wanted to be paid an extra $4500. This was a lie first of all and second, not part of the contract. The scope never changed. He worked numerous schemes after that to try to get paid more money, or even twice for things he already collected. He will not complete the the contracted work. No matter how much is owed at the end, he is not interested in finishing, he is just scheming to try to get you to pay as much as he can get before final payment. He will attempt to get you to pay him when he orders materials toward the end of a job, especially larger ticket items. He took "milestone" money to order glass and never ordered. I discovered later that he scrambled around trying to find a fabricator becasue the one he tried to use wouldn't work with him...he owed them for several past jobs. Instead of making them whole, he tried to go around them and through a vendor...I learned this after trying to get my money back for 6 weeks. I had to pursue Mark legally to obtain my money back. That is his track record and I have a long list of references that have been cheated by him if you need examples. Many are so fatigued and have PTSD from this guy they don't want to even go through the trauma and emotional nightmare with him again to even discuss. This guy operate like a complete con man,, proved to be dishonest in my dealings, committed fraud and hired unqualified, unskilled workers who perform shoddy workmanship. On one occasion he attempted to knowingly over order expensive construction finish materials that I purchased directly on my credit card from a vendor. He had me order them because his credit is no good in many places. When called out about the quantity purchased, he admitted it was 4X the amount (over $1200 in additional materials) that he obviously tried to get away with having for other or future jobs. When he returned the materials, he did not have them credited back to me - pretty sketchy. Do not hire this company or this person. The work is horrible, he was very dishonest. Do not be fooled by his early demeanor and responses he is not that person. He has a million excuses. Pathologically believes each of his lies. I have just described what happened with my experience so you know exactly who he is. I have talked to many other former clients now who were also conned and provided horrible work - all the same behaviors.

We first contacted Mark in July 2017 and hired him based on numerous 5-star reviews plus a recommendation. The initial call was to finish the basement with bathroom, remodel kitchen and main floor bathroom, and install oak floor. As the project went on, we added a dormer with two closets upstairs. It ended up being a big project, done in 2 phases (main floor in 2017, basement/upstairs 2018-2019) larger than we anticipated or even wanted, but the results are good, as long as you do not look too close. Mark talked us into adding features we did not want and really do not need, and tweaked the design of my kitchen to the point where it looks very nice, but is not efficient or practical. In fact, one of the kitchen extras I requested on day one was left until the very end, and because of the layout, it could not be installed properly and does not work the way it should. Close, just not right. There were many times work was done incorrectly and had to be torn out and redone. Eventually we realized the only way to get the materials we expected and the placement, etc., of anything we wanted done was to tell Mark exactly what to buy and leave notes with measurements and instructions for his crew. We would had vinyl siding installed on the back of the house and garage in the spring by another contractor and had quite a bit left over. Mark contacted the other contractor and then left him hanging. He ordered the siding for the front himself, and when it finally arrived after almost 4 months of waiting, it was the wrong style. The guys had half of the front sided when my husband pointed out the mistake. There were other material errors, too, and some of the painters (there were 4 different crews) did not use the finish I specified. But the biggest snafu is the fact that the dormer roof and front of the house were not properly finished off for months. In that time we had a couple big rains where water leaked into the bedroom below. Even though we reported the leaks as soon as they began, Mark did nothing until the ceiling fell in, dumping plaster and 70-year-old insulation into our bedroom. The only work that was done in that month (5 days total out of 31) was repairing the ceiling and making the roof and house watertight. Days and weeks went by without anyone working. Texts, phone calls, and emails went unanswered. Several times Mark wanted money before a benchmark spelled out in the contract was reached. We were finally 99% finished in March 2019, so even though there were 1 or 2 small things Mark said he would be back that night to finish, he got his final payment. Did he come back? No, and no final inspection was scheduled. We spent the next couple months finishing up any small items we could do ourselves, touching up paint, noticing more things he needed to do, and texting and emailing him almost daily. We learned from the city that we had several inspections outstanding. Finally, after we told him we were considering legal action, Mark came out to clean up the last items. Our final inspection happened end of June 2019, almost 2 years after our initial meeting. We do love our house now and get lots of compliments, but every day we find details that need addressing and the experience was a nightmare.

The 2 best words I can use to describe my experience with Mark and MHRAC are "quality" and "fair". Mark was the first contractor we talked to. We shopped around a bit and probably talked to 6-7 other contractors after that but kept coming back to Mark because he had a lot of knowledge and insight to the work we wanted done and offered a fair price. We were first time home buyers with what Mark called an "Ambitious!" amount of work we wanted to do. Mark made a great first impression by getting his hands dirty the first time we met with him by ripping out a big piece of a wood paneled wall we wanted to remove to see what was behind it. His thoroughness and his "well, let's check it out!" attitude gave us a lot of confidence. We had MHRAC refinish our hardwood floors, remove asbestos tiling, drywall a ceiling and wall, and give our kitchen a big facelift, among other things. They were good at being flexible with changing and adding a few things as we went and regardless of the task at hand, made sure it was done well. I'll definitely be calling MHRAC for any big projects I have in the future.

There is nothing about the experience I had with Mark that could be improved. He is informative, an expert in multiple trades, polite and respectful. I will only work with Mark on anything that falls in his scope if he has the availability. I wish working with all pros in all trades was always like working with Mark.

We hired Mark and his team after we had already started the demo portion of our renovation. Our first contractor had abandoned us early on in the process, and oh how we wish we had hired MHRAC first. I found Mark online and really liked the reviews that I had found regarding his work. Mark spent close to an hour on the initial phone call gathering details on where we were, what we wanted and getting our availability to sit down and meet. I was blown away with his level of detail from the beginning. Mark came out within a week, he sat down with my husband and I and reviewed every detail in-person, which we loved. We walked our home together and discussed our "dream kitchen" project. Mark responded within a week, with a detailed quote that matched his in-person comments. Anything that didn't match the original request, Mark was able to add additional information around those topics so we completely understood why. He provided options, which we greatly appreciated and is RARE for a contractor and we sourced 5 and found that MHRAC was the only contractor to do this. If we couldn't do something we really wanted or it wasn't available or doable we knew that upfront. Together we walked through every question, Mark still with a extremely high level of patience and detail. Mark provided us very accurate timelines and detailed information around the pricing we discussed. Mark treated our timelines and our dollars as if they were his own. Mark started a group text for my husband and I and assured us of how and what we would communicate on and when. When the process moved to the point of additional team members coming onsite beyond Mark, he made sure we met the team and knew when they would be there. The extra steps with communication really helped to ensure our comfort level with multiple people being in and out of our house. Mark was honest, proactive, on budget, and completed the project before the estimated deadline. The best part of working with Mark and his team is the quality of work was well beyond what we ever dreamed of. He was able to basically save our house and renovation project and turn it into a true dream project and dream home. We truly felt like we found a partner throughout the entire process, therefore we highly recommend Mark and his team.

We hired Mark/MHRAC to completely gut and renovate our whole 2600 sq. ft. house. We took down walls, moved ductwork, and converted two bedrooms into a MBR and a new master bath. We literally changed virtually everything in the house from flooring, to bathrooms, to cabinets. Mark and his team did an amazing job and we are incredibly pleased and happy in our new house. As an example of the quality of his work, we had to add some hardwood flooring in our MBR when we moved a wall. The floor looks perfect. There is no sign that any work was done. The old and new floors blend perfectly. The whole team is conscientious, trustworthy, and professional. We give the highest recommendation to Mark/MHRAC.

We hired Mark to complete a 1,000 sq ft full basement renovation to provide a laundry room, office space, family room, and bathroom. The renovation included correcting the integrity of our stairway and landing, installing a full bath with a large Euro shower, installing an egress window, leveling and sealing the floors in laundry room and utility room, and updating electrical, HVAC and plumbing. Mark and his team were a pleasure to work with. Mark always kept us up to date on the progress of the project and schedule for completion. As can happen with any construction project, there were a few hiccups in timing that were out of anyone's control (i.e. weather delaying egress window, back ordered vanity). Mark contacted us immediately when an issue arose and presented us with alternative solutions to keep the project moving forward. I greatly appreciated Mark's open line of communication and updates on the project status. The level of professionalism displayed by Mark and his team was superior! The work site was always kept clean and tidy. I have two young children and the crew was always respectful of our home and keeping the work area clean and safe. Mark's dedication to ensuring the quality of his work was outstanding! After the installation of the new vanity, (due to the back order of the original vanity) the placement of the light fixture was off about 1.5 inches. Mark came back and cut and repaired the drywall and moved the electrical mounting, just to ensure the light fixture was placed in the perfect location. We are beyond thrilled with the finished work! Most of our family time is now spent in the finished basement. I can't wait to have Mark return and build an addition for a master suite!

The team was small and earned our respect and trust; we opened our house to them when we were away. They completed the work (2 months) on time and with excellent results. They went out of their way to accommodate our changing perceptions of what we wanted and a mistake or two by "tier 2 suppliers." The job consisted of gutting the existing kitchen and redoing everything plus adding a ceiling exhaust for stove. There was good attention to detail throughout. The owner of the company was one of the workers. Communication with him by phone, text, and email was excellent. I never had a moment of wondering where he was. They all kept their words about when and where they would be, and what work they intended to do on any give day. Clean up was good and respect for our home and property was outstanding.

"WOW" has been the reaction of everyone who has seen my remodeled house. I was referred to Mark Clements of MHRAC concerning a crack above my living room window. During the inspection it was found that the crack was due to termites and a few weeks later it was discovered that the damage, in different extents, was throughout the whole house. The initial plan was to repair the damaged areas, but eventually for everyone's peace of mind, it was decided to expose all wood and rebuild with new framing, drywall, floor replacement around the exterior of most rooms, then carpet and paint. This project was not in my plans as I was nearing retirement, but since I was already having extensive work done, I listened to Mark's suggestions and decided not only to repair but also upgrade my 40 year old house. MHRAC stayed within my budget and did everything to keep costs down. I ended up with a new house which now has updated electrical, a new roof and furnace, a remodeled kitchen and bathroom, and a cleared out basement with an epoxied floor and half bath. I am totally pleased with the results and am happy to know that maintenance that would have become necessary eventually, has been done at a reasonable cost by a trustworthy contractor. Mark researched termite infestation, talked to other contractors, and consulted with Orkin, the company treating the termites. He brought with him very professional and friendly work crews. Many of the inspections included comments on a "job well done". I was made aware of all damages, and was immediately notified of any problems that arose. I was updated 2-3 times a week and whenever I stopped by the house I was given a tour of the progress and brought up to date on what would be next. I was consulted for any decision and often went with Mark to select a purchase after he had already researched for the best deals. I have been back in the house for almost a month and everything is going perfectly. I have had a chance to see and use everything. I would not hesitate to recommend MHRAC for all home repairs.

I heard about MHRAC from friends who had their basements remodeled by them. After patiently spending several hours grueling over details of the quote with me, answering all of my questions, providing information I requested, and comparing them to other contractors' quotes, I hired MHRAC to completely gut and remodel my kitchen also removing a load bearing wall. I expected quality work with attention to detail and professionalism, and they worked hard to deliver that. They clearly communicated with me over email, phone calls, and texts throughout the entire project. If I needed them to change/fix any areas with which I wasn't satisfied, they immediately addressed it to ensure I was happy with the outcome. What really sets MHRAC apart from the rest is that they genuinely care about their customers, take pride in their work, and respect the customer's property by cleaning up after themselves each day. I appreciated their integrity and willingness to meet my very high standards and expectations. Even though my kitchen remodel was comparatively a small project for them, it was a huge upgrade project for me, and they made it a priority in their busy schedule to complete everything on time and on budget. My kitchen is amazing, and everyone I show loves it as well. The transformation is a night and day difference. I would hire them again for any future home improvement project.

I hired MHRAC to completely finish our basement. It was apparent from the start of the project that Mark and Ray take great pride in their work and the customers satisfaction. They brought our vision to life and had some great design ideas of their own. Their attention to detail and commitment to making sure we were happy with every aspect of the project sets them apart. We were so happy with the basement we had them install custom built in cabinetry in the study and it transformed the room. They completely exceeded expectations. Quality work from quality people. I highly recommend MHRAC.
