I hired Mid Atlantic Waterproofing to do a basement waterproofing job in March 2018...they sent a VERY inexperienced crew to do the job. Not only was the job done wrong and had to be redone, and the workers wiped their hands on all the white walls in the basement and never cleaned up all the mud that was ground into the basement floor and stairs, and they jackhammered through the main sewer line and covered it up and did not tell me the owner. It was the 2nd crew that Mid Atlantic sent out to redo the job that found the hole and cover-up that the 1st crew did. Now 2 years later May 2020, the sump pump they installed is not working. I have water coming up through the basement floor. I spoke to Mr. Rubbo on May 18, 2020, and he assured me that someone would contact me to do a repair of the sump pump. As of today July 28, 2020, no one has contacted me. All the telephone numbers that I have on my warranty papers and that I have found on Google for Mid Atlantic Waterproofing are no longer in service. I have left messages on Mr. Rubbo cell phone and have emailed him twice with no response at all...I truly an exhausted on calling and chasing a ghost company. I feel robbed and ashamed of this company for treating their customers this way...I am now forced to contact the BBB and the Attorney Generals office... Please BEWARE of this unfavorable company... they are very expensive to hire to do a job, and you better have good chasing skills to make them liable for their actions.

Foundation Drainage Installation and Replacement
$16,000
High pressure sales pitch, stressing to sign a contract so, a special discount could be provided. The salesman sold me 2 sump pumps that were never needed, and my problem of a damp garage was never solved. I paid $16,000 to for a basement drainage system that was never needed. A project manager never showed up after an appointment was made to discuss my issues. Overall, deceptive sales practices that were very expensive and totally ineffective.

Very knowledgeable and educated you on all aspects of how your basement is inundated by water and how to correct it. Salesman puts pressure on by offering a discount. The more you say no and wait the cheaper the price! The work was very well done!

We recieved an interior water management system from Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing. This system was installed in a 100% fully finished basement, being used as a permanent home. The quality of the system and installation were good. However, there were a few times during the process I was not 100% happy. First, it took 3 appointments for the representative to actually show up (he canceled the first 2 times, and all appointments were scheduled by them on thier time). Second, there is clearly a disconnect between the representatives you meet with and the crews that actually do the job. We had specific requests that were not communicated to the crew then we had to relay it ourselves and it seemed, at times, that when we did so, it was an inconvenience to them and not something they did. Meaning the crew has a plan, and it's the same for every home, and they didnt like deviating from it, but they ultimately did, just with hesitation. Third, the representative assured us that the system is installed in finished basements all the time, and that there would be damage to the walls and floors on the foundation exterior but it would be very minimal and easily and quickly fixed (which they dont do) but we could do it ourselves, no big deal. We would only be displaced from the space for 3 days while the work was being done and another 3 days to put everything back and that's it! Well, it's been a month and we are not back in the space and that minimal damage? Well we had to hire another crew to come and fix it all, because it was no where near as minimal as initially described to us. Look, it is what it is, we would have still done it if the truth had been fully described, but my beef is that it wasnt. We recieved a sugar coated & oh it wont be bad at all version that we were expecting and was far from what we recieved. We were told the walls would only be cut up 6 inches and it could be easily covered with large baseboard. The reality was the cuts were anywhere from 15 inches to 4 feet. So we were expecting to just slap on some baseboard, now we are replacing full walls, see the difference? More time and way more money! Again, my issue isnt with the reality, just that we were lead to believe a false truth to make it seem better than it was. Fourth, we were told we did not have to move all of our stuff out. We were told just push everything 4 feet away from the walls and the crews would wrap and cover everything, it'll all be kept safe and clean. Well, again, severe miscommunication. Their idea of covering our stuff was to staple plastic to our walls, that was it. Needless to say, all the concrete dust just went up and over or down and under that plastic and everything we own is now covered in an inch of concrete dust. Again, if anyone had been forthcoming about the truth, we would have just moved it all out, but we were lead to believe something else, now were are dealing with the aftermath. Some of our stuff is ruined, uncleanable, most other stuff will be ok, but another added expense for cleaning, things like our furniture needs to be professionally cleaned. The system is great, and I'd install another, because it works, but be aware, if it's going in a finished basement, it's going to be trashed, and trashed hard, and budget to have another crew come in and pick up the peices.

they STILL have nkg shiwn uo to do the job. they are pushing back the start date for the THIRD time. I am very unhappy with this company. now I just want my deposit back so I can find a company thag will actually show up. i feel like i'm getting scammed.
Response from Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing
"We apologize for the delay in scheduling this job as there were some circumstances with existing jobs that had to be taken care of prior to this one started. Update: 10-14-2019...we are happy to report that the installation is complete. We truly believe the wait was worth it. Thank you for your business."

No problem so far. The job is not finished yet -- the concrete has to cure before my sink, washing machine and the table they had to remove that was attached to the wall are put back in place. I called their rep and he said to give him a call in about two days and they will set up an appointment for them to come and finish up.

Sump Pump or Interior Foundation Drains Installation
I hired Charles to install a interior foundation drain and install 2 sumps, we signed a contract and gave them a down payment of $4554, they were suppose to start on 5/23/19 and that is was a 2 day job, they started work and was here a couple of times, I got a call from the Dan Rubbo said that he could not complete the contract because there was too much water and was worried what would happen if they did, they decided to put in 2 sump pumps in,the problem is since they did not install the drainage system, the water is still coming up in the house, they have walked off the job, there is a big part of my basement that is destroyed because they tore out the carpeting, baseboards, shelving, plus they drilled into every single block all the way around the perimeter, they caulked it in with latex caulk them in and that did not stop the water from coming in which is now dissolving out and the holes are open
Response from Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing
"Thank you for your response. Reason of stopped job is because Lake Ontario, near your home, has such a high water table and was pouring water towards it, that the system which was contracted for was not going to be able to handle it. Realized this after job started, could not predetermine upon initial inspection. We realized we would not be able to solve the issue, so we stopped. We can understand the frustration this may have caused, but, in the long run, this would be a job that would have continuous problems and not good for either party. We are working with the homeowner to resolve the outstanding concerns as mentioned as we speak."

The sales guy promised things that did not end up in the contract he wrote up. He no longer works for them. The company stood by the promises the salesman made without any extra charge.

The installers did a great job and I am very happy with the work. The issue I had was in getting the job scheduled. I signed the contract in May and they never came to do the work until September. They kept telling me they had no team available to complete the job. I am now waiting for them to remove the forms they used for pouring the concrete and inspect the job, they finished pouring the concrete September 18.

It took 3 months before they started work and I had to call every time. I never signed off on the work and they were paid. They left a 3 inch concrete ridge above the floor around basement and forms for concrete were left with cinderblocks and nails on top. I have been promised they would fix it and they won't answer emails or phone calls.

I got three estimates for French drain and mid-Atlantic was the most expensive. But they seemed much more competent and I was glad I spent the extra amount to get them. The work was done in two days. They were very professional and accommodating. And the drain seems to work so far!!
