I approached three companies for a service-quote at 4pm on a Friday afternoon (of course!) to have the lift wires on my garage door replaced because one broke and one car was trapped in the garage. John called me immediately and we agreed that he could show up the following morning to make the repairs. John showed up right on time and finished the repairs within 30 minutes. I was very satisfied with the service call. BTW: One of the other three companies that I approached for service called me the following Tuesday and the third company made no attempt to contact me.

They responded promptly to a post for service for our counterbalance springs. Quoted a package price. When the tech arrived we discovered the sprocket in the chain drive was shot and needed to be replaced. He performed both of these tasks in a little over an hour. I was shocked at the bill. He said I had two services which are packages. Like all trip charges and everything is double. So I asked what was the cost of the parts and what was the cost of the labor. He knew the cost of the parts... about $100. (I verified) So his bill for $375 included $275 in labor for 70 minutes! My math says this is about $235 per hour. We settled at $300 but I will certainly caution that you to check how you are going to be billed before you accept additional work.

"Thank you for your review! i did forget that we do offer a discount with 2 repairs like yours, but forgot as you were already receiving a discount. We do have flat rates for some repairs that are the most common like torsion spring replacement,gear and sprocket replacement, cable replacement etc. We had a special on the spring replacement of $40 off the regular price with lifetime warranty. if you look at just that repair for the springs which normally takes about 20 minutes for us, with parts being $45 each spring or $90 parts and $109 labor that would be $327/hour which we don't make.Who pays for the travel time to and from your house or to the next house? The point I'm making is that there is more to the time at the house than just the repair. If I go to a Doctor appt.for 10 min and receive a bill for $250 to $300 do i really think I'm paying $2500 to $3000/hour? No"
