Modern Pools

Update from my previously poor review: Modern Pools is under new management. Duke has worked with me to repair the trust that I lost with Jordan, Butch, Ben and Austin. Duke has made every effort to reach out to me, visit the job, confirm my pool was complete, resolve the contractual issues, and make me whole. With the new attitude I've witnessed, I believe Duke will continue to work hard to rebuild the Modern Pools reputation. I have nothing but praise for the subcontractors and employees who did the labor on my pool, they can do beautiful work with the right management. Mark, Jay, Uriel, Adolpho to name a few, thank you for the extra effort and hard work, I appreciate it.

Worst experience ever. Communication is nonexistent. It does not matter if I dealt with Butch, Ben or Austin, they never followed through. Just gave a constant run around trying to keep you quiet. Work from subs has to be redone because it was not correct. They did a bait and switch for cheaper equipment. We paid for a 3.0 hp pump and they provided a 2.6 hp pump and then had the audacity to tell us the 2.6 pump is fine. Google Jordan Hildago, he and his companies including Modern Pools was featured two times on the local news. That will show you everything you need to know.

Warning!! Stay far away!! Modern pools took my money and never finished my pool. I tried being nice and patient with them. I spoke to Austin a few times about getting my last check that Ben collected and never came back to my property to finish . He always says he is going to talk to the owner Jordan and never gets an answer back to you. Apparently there is no money and on top of everything else I currently have a lien and a lawsuit filed against us because they never paid their subcontractor. What I thought was going to be my dream pool turned into my worst nightmare. People please do not contract this pool company all your hard working money will be taken from you and you will never see a pool. I believe in god and I know he is watching over me and what you do wrong in this life you will pay karma will catch up to them for what they have caused to so many homeowners.

Pool and spa Project was started April 2022 and was never finished. Ownership was rude and completely dishonest about everything. I made all required payments but the work was never completed. I have not heard from them in 3 months.

If you want to experience bad work and bad attitudes with ownership, Then these guys are the ones to do it. We hired them to build a pool; it was all great and dandy at first, but we ran into some hang-ups, and thats where it all started. Pool is not complete, pool lights not working. I have decking that is caving in, and the pool plumbing is leaking. Ownership and employees are all nonresponsive to our emails and phone calls. These guys are in it to take your money and leave you high and dry.

Please note, this review is specific to Modern Pools and not Island Way pools. My experience with Modern Pools has been very positive! Both Alison and Butch exceeded my expectations in customer care by being available whenever needed. Alison sends weekly updates which were accurate and trustworthy. Butch was onsite at the job routinely - overseeing every step in the process. His thorough oversight lead to seamless coordination of contractors being on site timely and efficiently. There was never a question that Butch could not answer and his responses were extremely timely. Modern Pools is a top notch company run by compassionate people who care about the outcome. If you want to have a new pool put in or a current pool updated, you cannot go wrong with Modern Pools. I am very happy with the new addition to my home.

Island Way lived up to their contract in an exemplary manner. They started on time, and had to go the extra yard to finish on time, for which we were grateful, as we had grandchildren descending upon us from up North. However, it was not without hardship on Island Way's part, as they ran into several personnel problems, completely out of their control, such as employees being injured in their recreational time. This seriously depleted personnel in critical areas. It was a pleasure working with Jordan and Justin, the owners, but kudos must certainly go to Steve Kangas, our Project Manager. Steve is not one afraid of getting his hands dirty. Almost daily, you would find him working on plumbing, electrical, tiling, etc., whatever what was going on at the time, in order to keep the project on time. The end result was spectacular, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I never knew what I was getting into when installing a pool because this is my first and last pool. You have to trust the experts. I want people to know that if you ask Jordon or Justin the questions they give you the answers. Would you do this again yes, would you use them again absolutely. My pool is almost complete and I have been in it already. The salt system will go on in about a month and the cleaners at the same time. We are just waiting for the pool the cure... The last part is getting the yard back together. Expect a mess.. this is a big process... but it is well worth it.

The project was very poorly managed, communication was nearly non-existent, there was a lot of rework, the job site was a mess the entire time, it took twice as long to complete as stated, the pool equipment was not installed or plumbed to manufacturer’s requirements, the hand rail for the steps was rusty when it was installed and they won’t replace it and they literally destroyed all of the xeriscape in my side yard and they won’t make it right. I had to call them repeatedly to get things done or redone correctly. The bottom line is that they did not deliver on what they said they were going to do and turned something we were very much looking forward to into a very unpleasant experience. I made numerous efforts to address issues during the course of our pool project before they became problems. I would first like to say thank you to Jordan and his team at Island Way Pavers and Pools for making our vision a reality. Jordan was very thorough and always answered questions within the day. He is very knowledgeable of the products he sells and represents and has very good working relationships with his trades. He promised me swimming by Labor Day and delivered on that a few days prior exceeding his own deadline. The 3D image I received from him was literally identical to the final product, I am simply amazed. Jordan was very friendly every visit as well was his brother Justin. I believe Island Way exceeded every expectation I had for this pool.

They are fast and efficient.
