About us

Moodscapes, established in 1996, is a small landscape design, build and consultation firm, servicing the greater Boston, Cambridge, and suburban areas. Judi, the owner, holds a Certificate in Landscape Design from the Radcliffe Institute of Landscape Design, as well as a Certificate in Healing and Therapeutic Garden Design from the Chicago Botanical Garden, which allows her to focus on personalizing each landscape. We design and install landscapes to address the needs, desires and moods of our clients in residential, public and commercial settings. We use a design process which: - Focuses on the client's input every step of the way from initial consultation and site analysis to design approval - Installation - Focuses on the site with all its possibilities, issues, and horticultural requirements This dual focus process allows us to create long-lasting and viable landscapes, which are tailored to each of our client's special needs. We do everything related to the design and installation of your landscape. This includes consulting, planning, coordinating, picking out materials, installing and scheduling maintenance. Each landscape is ecologically-balanced containing many native plant materials and using only organic fertilizers. Our landscapes may include: - Ponds, Waterfalls and Water Gardens - Foundation Plantings, Perennial Borders, Mixed Shrub or Tree Borders - Restorative/meditative and Therapeutic Gardens - Woodland, Butterfly, and Shade Gardens. - Hardscape, such as Patios, Walkways, and Walls We specialize in large and small projects that will need limited maintenance so that our clients have time to enjoy many years of pleasure from the landscape designed and installed just for them!

After interviewing many others, we finally found Moodscapes and couldn't be more pleased with their work. They take the time to customize plans and individualize the work to meet your needs and wishes. We have used Moodscapes for two years in a row and recommend them without reservation. We were looking forward to using Moodscapes but the budget of the project began to escalate with no real end. We had to stop during the design phase when the "updated" estimates came in. Moodscapes was very kind as to refund our deposit in full. We just decided to do most of the work ourselves and hired a local gardener for assistance in choosing plants.

Judi helped me realize my dream patio and garden! She was able to accomplish this feat while honoring my budgetary restraints. She spent a lot of time with me working to amend my plan into its final form. Judi clearly took pride in her work, used quality materials and went that extra mile to assure my satisfaction. She actually called two workmen back to correct errors at no cost to me! I found Judi and her crew to be highly skilled, punctual, respectful and friendly. Initial weed control and fertilization was great David Seibel was great but he did come only at end of summer Planting under front tree was done late Never came back to do regular mantainance Never saw the tree pruners Never followed up with pond plants Quality of work and contract management is great though.

After meeting 5 landscape companies we hired Moodscapes. Our project included difficult slopes and serious drainage issues. Moodscapes devised a plan that included digging a swale and building a wall and patio in back to divert water. They planted a wonderful mix of trees, shrubs, bamboo and perennials that tolerate shade and promote drainage. Our backyard is now a scenic oasis. The front was terraced to increase drainage. Two staircases and a driveway were built. The terraces were elegantly planted to lower maintenance and give our house outstanding curb appeal. Judi coordinated this project seamlessly combining our practical needs with our aesthetic desires. If you want beautiful landscaping and to work with someone who listens, is creative and very professional Moodscapes is the best choice.

You should see my yard now - it's magnificent! I didn't remove the netting until 2 weeks ago - and I spent last weekend weeding the violets out of the moss - but now it's a vast expanse of green, thick moss - you're great!

Judy is phenomenal! She easily put a landscape plan together that included shrubs, annuals, roses, hydranges, etc. She moved some existing bushes to a new location to make room for the new bushes! What a change!! Her staff people are so friendly--nice people to be around. A couple of my concerns were immendiately handled with a smile! One of her workers even designed a simple rockwall using our existing rocks rather than adding costs to for disposal. In three days (for very reasonable price) we had a new look! We smile every day when we come up the driveway. M, Wellesley, Mass.
