Initially, everything went well. Erick came by during Covid, looked at what I was requesting and I signed a Maintenance Contract with him to include a spring clean up with mulch application, weekly mowing, fertilization, and shrub trimming. He said he would trim the shrubs twice in the contract yet only did it once. I had new sod installed in my front yard the fall prior by someone else who was Great. Unfortunately that business did not do weekly maintenance on the south shore. At the beginning of the season, Erick (the owner) would come by and his workers did a great Job. I then hired him for additional landscaping needs, including a tree removal and he recommended a person to install a pool. He then removed the dirt from the semi in ground pool and I paid him for this service, although he charged me more money than initially quoted, but we agreed on a final price that was reasonable for both. During the summer and fall he did not show many times and just had his son and two other workers do the weekly maintenance. I had a few issues and voiced my concerns and then Erick would come by and the workers would do the job satisfactory as long as he was there. When he was not there they would destroy my sod with a Weed Wacker and use large equipment not designed for a smaller yard. In addition, they would mow in the rain, which everyone knows is horrible for grass, especially Sod. However, the owner would usually make it right during the beginning of the summer into early fall. I trusted him enough to complete a larger project including Masonry work and was charged over 2 thousand dollars for the work. We discussed what needed to be done, I showed him a picture online that I liked , he showed me a sample of polymeric sand and we agreed on a price. He was to provide the pavers, polymeric sand and reconstruct an existing walkway with my existing stone. He said he would need additional stone to put the pieces closer together and as I had some left over from an existing retaining wall, he agreed to use that, I still have more existing stone. I also asked him if he needed additional material besides what I had from the retaining wall, which he said he did not The project looked good initially when he was finished. Less than a month later, the polymeric sand started to peel away and underneath the polymeric sand, which was only a coating, was just regular sand. He obviously does not know masonry, even though his son says that is what he does. This was not satisfactory and I sent him photos showing the loose pieces and the uneven walkway. There were loose pieces and it looked worse than when he initially touched it. He responded saying I understand the problem and it is better to fix it in the spring. The spring comes, I text him and Erick is unresponsive. I continue to text him and he finally comes by to look at the problem. He says he will be back in 2 weeks to fix the problem. 2 weeks later, no response. 3 weeks later, no response. A little over 3 weeks later, he finally answers me, because I also followed with an email, by text message and says I told you the problem is you do not have enough stone, so we need more polymeric sand and it is going to cost an additional $375.00. Please keep in mind throughout the season I paid him over $6,000 for various work done . He did not do the work right the first time and is now trying to get more money. When I explained to him that I just want it done right and fixed. He refuses saying we do not do work we do not get paid for. I explained to him, the work was never done right to begin with, I do not want anything additional, I just want an even walkway that is not a tripping hazard as agreed in the fall. He refuses and I explain I will not have any alternative other than to take him to small claims court. He reply good luck. This is not a trust worthy business. Erick is a bad man who will take you...
