Project: New Windows - 6 +
A high quality window, sold and installed by quality people. I chose to go with a premium quality window which commands a higher price than a standard quality replacement. Had I chosen the standard route it would have been fine. However, thanks to the team at Morgan Exteriors, I don't have fine, I have fantastic. The look, design, construction, fit and finishof the Okna window is superb. The team who installed my 13 windows did nothing short of amazing work in less than 8 hours time. I was under no pressure during the entire process from appointments, to the proposal, to respecting the time I took to decide, to choosing the jobs completion date. This is a great company that is doing great work. I'll be sure to use them in the future.

Project: New Windows - 6 +
Let me start off by saying I consider myself very handy and do most, if not, all of our household projects and repairs. I've done uncountable projects from roofing entire houses to totally renovating kitchens. I've installed several windows in the past, but my wife finally put her foot down and said she didn't want me wasting all of my vacation time doing household repairs. After reluctantly submitting to her demand, I contacted several window installers and received estimates. Morgan Exteriors quote ended up being in the middle of these said estimates. Our decision to choose them was made easier because of their sales representative, Lou Chalifour. He was very professional and knowledgeable. In fact, I hate sales people, but he was likeable and ended up being flexible as we negotiated the final price of our project. After negotiating our estimate, I was told we'd be contacted for a more accurate measurement of our windows. A couple days later, we were contacted and someone came by to double check all the window measurements. After doing so, he said it'd be a couple weeks for them to have the windows custom made. When they were assembled, we'd get a call. Sure enough, we got a call and an appointment was made for the following week. They said the job would take two days. They showed up late morning on a Monday and as they were leaving that afternoon, my wife said she'd see them Tuesday morning. She was caught off guard when they replied, "Nope. The job was done." When I got home from work, I took a look at their work and was pleasantly surprised to see a quality job was done in such a timely and efficient manner. The only complaints I have are: 1.) The bank financing was a bit of a problem because of some contact issues, but was eventually resolved, 2.) Some of the trim work wasn't perfect, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to finish work and I could easily fix the blemishes and 3.) There was a small hole in one of the screens, but was told they'd be by to fix it when there's an opening in their schedule. I wouldn't hesitate hiring this company again and would highly recommend them to anybody needing windows installed in the home(s).

We hired Morgan Exteriors to demolish current three season sunroom and build a sturdy energy efficient four season sunroom with attached deck. OMG! The finished sunroom is awesome! Beautiful! The crew from start to finish were knowledgeable, professional, pleasant, and punctual. They would always answer any questions you may have and always willing to work with you. Quality of work was excellent.

Very clear communications. Have already planned on hiring them again for replacement windows in the Spring.

Review by Debra M. in Amherst, NH
Project: New Windows - 6 +
My neighbors encouraged me to write this review in the hope that it will help others to ask better questions. In Feb. 2017, Morgan Exteriors installed 16 replacement windows and 2 basement windows. Prior to the installation and their response to the issues, I would have given them 5 stars. The first night after the windows were installed, I woke up 3 times because I was cold. The only thing that had changed were the new replacement windows. The first time, I put an extra blanket on the bed, the second time, I turned up the heat, and the third time I was wondering what I could put around the windows to stop the cold air. Morgan came out to check the installation and stated the windows are installed correctly. They did fix the screws that weren't all the way in on the basement windows. During this visit, I asked what type of insulation was used around the windows and they stated nothing was used as it wasn't needed. I thought I asked all of the companies this question and I thought each one stated they used insulation around the windows. Perhaps I misunderstood or forgot to ask Morgan. I wish I had watched the window installation so I would have known the windows were installed without any insulation around the widows. Here are excerpts from the email response from Marc at Morgan. When I changed the windows in my home, I also had a very similar situation as you do in your home and I had the exact same experience (that my house seemed colder with the new windows). I have a 2 story house with forced hot air and one zone (thermostat). I changed my windows with Okna 500 series (same windows you have). At first I just turned my heat up to compensate but it was still uncomfortable. My solution: I adjusted the dampers in the ductwork over the course of the following winter until I got it were I felt comfortable through out the entire house. The year prior to changing my windows (which was a moderately warm winter) I had my 250 gallon tank filled 4 times. The year after changing my windows (which was a much colder winter) I had my 250 gallon tank filled 3 times saving an entire tank of fuel which convinced me that the windows were not making my house colder. I continue to enjoy saving on my fuel bill as well as being comfortable through the house after a little trial and error with the dampers. Based on what you are experiencing and what I experienced when we first installed my windows I am confident if you follow my suggestions things will work out and you will be happy with the windows and your fuel bill.
Response by Morgan Exteriors, LLC: We are all very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your new windows and if we were licensed HVAC people we would come down and balance your house for you because that is the only thing that will help. When you make changes to an existing home there are things that happen, if you have a one zone heating system with the thermostat downstairs and you put in energy efficient windows its going to keep the downstairs warmer and your heat is not going to go on as often and upstairs is going to be cooler until you balance your system. There were some things in Marc?s email that you left out that are pertinent to this matter so I will paste them here: Hi Deb It is upsetting to here that you are not happy with your windows at this time. We have installed literally hundreds of jobs using the Okna windows and have never had a customer state that they would like to replace them, actually quite the opposite. Our customer love their windows often. So after some research, speaking with a ductwork installer about single zone homes vs. 2 zone homes, which he said all two story houses should have two zones but that was not a option I wanted to explore, and some trial and error in my home, my situation was as follows: My furnace was not turning on as much as I was used to which was allowing my ductwork to cool off especially going up to the second floor as it takes longer to heat the second floor ducts because as heat travels through the ducts it cools more the further it gets from the furnace. When the heat did turn on I got a cold draft at first from the air coming out of the ducts until it heated to temperature. My solution: Going off the recommendation of the duct work installer I had to balance out my home. I adjusted the dampers in the ductwork over the course of the following winter until I got it were I felt comfortable through out the entire house. I continue to enjoy saving on my fuel bill as well as being comfortable through the house after a little trial and error with the dampers. Keeping in mind your windows will always be the coldest part of the wall in your home. Okna windows in our opinion are one of the best if not the best windows in the market which is why I put them in my own house. We install all our windows correctly and use spray foam so the windows are free of drafts. We have NEVER had any of our customers say the Okna windows made their house colder so we definitely want to help you figure out a way to make you home comfortable. After reading your e-mail it seems you have some doubts that there is foam in your windows. We do have a sash here for you that was ordered due to a black smear in one of your windows. When we come out to change the sash I will drill a hole in your old window and show you the foam in the frame in hopes to put your mind at ease. We take pride in the products that we use and the way we install them. Based on what you are experiencing and what I experienced when we first installed my windows I am confident if you follow my suggestions things will work out and you will be happy with the windows and your fuel bill. At this point we feel there is nothing else that we can do, is there anything specific that you would like us to do? Thank you Marc Debra stated she asked Marc or PJ what type of insulation we use around the windows and we said nothing, that just isn?t correct. The Okna window come wrapped with a polyurethane insulation on the outside of the window and we used low expansion foam on the bottom of the window and anywhere there are voids. The windows also are sealed using a synthetic caulking.
