Best contractors I've EVER had on my property!! I can't say enough great things about these guys. Very patient with me and my thousands of questions - and repeat questions :). Easy to work with! Very clear communications. Have already planned on hiring them again for replacement windows in the Spring.

Review by Debra M. in Amherst, NH
Project: New Windows - 6 +
My neighbors encouraged me to write this review in the hope that it will help others to ask better questions. In Feb. 2017, Morgan Exteriors installed 16 replacement windows and 2 basement windows. Prior to the installation and their response to the issues, I would have given them 5 stars. The first night after the windows were installed, I woke up 3 times because I was cold. The only thing that had changed were the new replacement windows. The first time, I put an extra blanket on the bed, the second time, I turned up the heat, and the third time I was wondering what I could put around the windows to stop the cold air. Morgan came out to check the installation and stated the windows are installed correctly. They did fix the screws that weren't all the way in on the basement windows. During this visit, I asked what type of insulation was used around the windows and they stated nothing was used as it wasn't needed. I thought I asked all of the companies this question and I thought each one stated they used insulation around the windows. Perhaps I misunderstood or forgot to ask Morgan. I wish I had watched the window installation so I would have known the windows were installed without any insulation around the widows. Here are excerpts from the email response from Marc at Morgan. When I changed the windows in my home, I also had a very similar situation as you do in your home and I had the exact same experience (that my house seemed colder with the new windows). I have a 2 story house with forced hot air and one zone (thermostat). I changed my windows with Okna 500 series (same windows you have). At first I just turned my heat up to compensate but it was still uncomfortable. My solution: I adjusted the dampers in the ductwork over the course of the following winter until I got it were I felt comfortable through out the entire house. The year prior to changing my windows (which was a moderately warm winter) I had my 250 gallon tank filled 4 times. The year after changing my windows (which was a much colder winter) I had my 250 gallon tank filled 3 times saving an entire tank of fuel which convinced me that the windows were not making my house colder. I continue to enjoy saving on my fuel bill as well as being comfortable through the house after a little trial and error with the dampers. Based on what you are experiencing and what I experienced when we first installed my windows I am confident if you follow my suggestions things will work out and you will be happy with the windows and your fuel bill.
Response by Morgan Exteriors, LLC: We are all very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your new windows and if we were licensed HVAC people we would come down and balance your house for you because that is the only thing that will help. When you make changes to an existing home there are things that happen, if you have a one zone heating system with the thermostat downstairs and you put in energy efficient windows its going to keep the downstairs warmer and your heat is not going to go on as often and upstairs is going to be cooler until you balance your system. There were some things in Marc?s email that you left out that are pertinent to this matter so I will paste them here: Hi Deb It is upsetting to here that you are not happy with your windows at this time. We have installed literally hundreds of jobs using the Okna windows and have never had a customer state that they would like to replace them, actually quite the opposite. Our customer love their windows often. So after some research, speaking with a ductwork installer about single zone homes vs. 2 zone homes, which he said all two story houses should have two zones but that was not a option I wanted to explore, and some trial and error in my home, my situation was as follows: My furnace was not turning on as much as I was used to which was allowing my ductwork to cool off especially going up to the second floor as it takes longer to heat the second floor ducts because as heat travels through the ducts it cools more the further it gets from the furnace. When the heat did turn on I got a cold draft at first from the air coming out of the ducts until it heated to temperature. My solution: Going off the recommendation of the duct work installer I had to balance out my home. I adjusted the dampers in the ductwork over the course of the following winter until I got it were I felt comfortable through out the entire house. I continue to enjoy saving on my fuel bill as well as being comfortable through the house after a little trial and error with the dampers. Keeping in mind your windows will always be the coldest part of the wall in your home. Okna windows in our opinion are one of the best if not the best windows in the market which is why I put them in my own house. We install all our windows correctly and use spray foam so the windows are free of drafts. We have NEVER had any of our customers say the Okna windows made their house colder so we definitely want to help you figure out a way to make you home comfortable. After reading your e-mail it seems you have some doubts that there is foam in your windows. We do have a sash here for you that was ordered due to a black smear in one of your windows. When we come out to change the sash I will drill a hole in your old window and show you the foam in the frame in hopes to put your mind at ease. We take pride in the products that we use and the way we install them. Based on what you are experiencing and what I experienced when we first installed my windows I am confident if you follow my suggestions things will work out and you will be happy with the windows and your fuel bill. At this point we feel there is nothing else that we can do, is there anything specific that you would like us to do? Thank you Marc Debra stated she asked Marc or PJ what type of insulation we use around the windows and we said nothing, that just isn?t correct. The Okna window come wrapped with a polyurethane insulation on the outside of the window and we used low expansion foam on the bottom of the window and anywhere there are voids. The windows also are sealed using a synthetic caulking.

I THINK THE WINDOWS LOOK G R E A T! MY NEIGHBORS LOVED HOW GREAT THE LOOKED WHEN THEY CAME TO SEE THEM. I'M GLAD I WENT WITH ALL WINDOWS THAT OPEN, BECAUSE THERE IS NO REASON WHY PAY FOR A STUPID NON-OPENING WINDOW. I HOPE YOU WILL CALL ME BACK IF I EVER NEED YOU. OK THANKS, CAROLYN DIGIOVANNI. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

The staff and crew of Morgan Exteriors were extremely polite, friendly and professional. The representative Lou was very knowledgeable, there was never any pressure to purchase and I was encouraged to do my research further if I needed to. I did and found only good things about the product and Morgan Exteriors. The crew for the install worked well, quickly and neatly. There was no mess left inside or out, very thorough. They made sure every small detail was finished. The windows they replaced were very old, Morgan did a fantastic job in repairing/replacing all the wood framing inside to appear seamless. The wrapping that was done on the outside of the window frames looks wonderful and adds a great aesthetic to the house. I absolutely enjoy the new windows, the look, the ease of movement, decrease in outside noise and the amount of light and view they now let in. The screens seem like the are not even there, they don't impede the view or the look of the window. Great product, great company. Morgan has my trust and I can't thank them enough for their promptness in getting my windows in.

Excellent experience from the initial sales call all the way to the installation and cleanup. The sales rep followed up just enough so that I knew they cared about my window project, but not so much that I felt harassed or pressured into choosing them as a contractor. The windows were ready for installation weeks before anticipated. The installation crew was on time, respectful and professional. They installed 15 double hung windows and 1 picture windows before 2 pm. Very satisfied. I have already recommended them to other home owners in the area.
