"Dear M(consumer name withheld per their request) Reviewing your work order history sent in by our Lead Technician, we find that our records indicate a different sequence of events. You requested service from Mr. Appliance because your ice maker wasn?t working. Our Trip and Diagnostic fee is $89 and is always waived when you approve the quoted amount to repair your unit. There is no $180 Diagnostic fee. Our Technicians know that an Ice maker not making ice can be a symptom due to another issue. Therefore, the unit had to be completely diagnosed. The tech found that your unit was leaking which created an ice buildup, he then had to disassemble your unit, removed all the ice and proceeded to defrost and unclogged your drain that was full of ice, he also fixed your defrost system and then reassembled your unit. After he performed those tasks he started diagnostics on the ice maker. In hopes that your unit wouldn?t require a new ice maker. The technician tested for proper operations and told you, before replacing the ice maker it would be beneficial for you to wait 24hrs to make sure it wasn?t the defrost system that was not allowing the ice maker to work properly. Our records indicate technician spent over 1 hr and 27 minutes actively working on your unit to ensure everything was working properly. The next day you called and said it wasn?t making ice, we sent our Senior Tech, he pulled out the Ice maker tested and noticed it was malfunctioning, he recommended you replace the Ice Maker and that the manufacturer had updated that part. The Technician never quoted $380. He only quoted you for a New Manufacturer Updated Part and didnt ad labor cost because you had paid the day before. You told our Technician in a very unkind way to leave your house. We make best effort to understand and appreciate our customers needs and propose all possible and best solutions. We treat all our customers with respect and we feel we acted more than reasonable under the circumstances, and while we wish the outcome had been different; in this case we stand by our Technician and our team."
