"To my recall this job was a complete re-do in a hall bathroom that some else worked and screwed up badly. A wall needed to be removed and rebuilt. She did-not want to do that for she had already paid some else to build a incorrect wall. Due to nature of the wall the trim would not line up. My employees tried it, I tore it out and installed again, it was better but it was never going to line up with that wall. I always try to make my customers happy and I had no idea she was this dissatisfied."
"Upon starting this job, my initial mistake was having my floor tiler attempt a wall tile job. I had my main tiler on another job at the time and I had faith that my floor tiler do it, but he made mistakes (improper installation schluter board being the cause of the unevenness) and that was exactly the reason I stood by my work and replaced it. He learned a lot on this job, as floors differ from walls in tiling. I took full financial responsibility for that. During the second process, the schluter board was not improperly installed a second time. I then had my second tiler come out and re-do the sections torn out. He arrived with the same cutting tools as my company has always had, so I am unsure as to why my first man would imply he didn't have the correct tools. My second tiler agreed with my belief that the untouched section was fine and simply showed the tiniest of pinhole points where the non-sanded grout shrank away from the tile in a few spots, as that type of grout is prone to do. Being newly installed, it was fixable by applying more grout to fill those spaces and so we did just that, even though we strongly felt that those spaces were hardly noticeable... you had to point them out to us by literal use of a magnifying glass. Non-sanded grout also has a concave appearance between tiles and is not meant to be perfectly level with all tiles, especially when tiles are of varying shape and/or size. While my first tiler had complained of the darkness under the cabinets hindering him, my second tiler said it was not needed for him to complete the job, so I did not provide it. And after sending him to the job, a man who is very skilled in vertical tiling at that, his work was also being picked apart. I then realized I could not please you and my out of pocket expenses were already 3 times the amount planned. I truly hate that it left you with a bad experience, but I had to draw the line somewhere as a business decision. This issue is not typical of the work my employees and myself strive to provide and I did all I could sensibly do to make it right. I sincerely apologize and I hope someone is/was able to work the tile to your expectations."
"(consumer name withheld per their request) was a pleasure to work for. Her town house fence was indeed a tough challenge in that it was a box wood style fence with two sides and one side I could not touch because it was the neighbors side of the fence. The fence boards on one neighbors side were spaced evenly at 2" inches apart which made for a beautiful fence for Ms. Ranum when I installed the new boards on her side in an off set position. Different Story however on the other side of the patio. The other neighbors where not evenly spaced at all. Some 4" some 1" some had 3" apart. The only thing I knew to do was to set all the boards on Ms .Ranum side at 2" apart. Maybe this is why I got a 4 instead of a 5 in my quality rating. All I know is this: As a private owner of a small company I have built my business on a quality job I would want done in my own home. I and everyone that works for me knows that this is what it takes to keep our customers satisfied. However, sometimes even that is not enough. As much as I would like, I am just not allowed to reach across the fence to straighten the neighbors boards."
