Handyman Service
I hired this man on June 8th. His name is Jim. I needed handrails installed in our home and outside. I wrote a list of several projects. He assured me that he was professional and would do excellent work. I informed him that my husband was in the hospital and that we needed the handrails done immediately so that when he came home he would be able to use the handrails to keep from failing. I also told him that I too had difficulty on steps without a handrail. He agreed to do the work and said he needed a deposit for materials and for his time to get started. I gave him a substantial deposit. Jim was supposed to begin work immediately but was vague about how he was going to install the handrails. He immediately began to procrastinate. He would promise to show up in the morning and I would wait for him but he would call later and say that "something came up" but that he would come the next day. Every day was another excuse including his brother's illness and a trip out of town. This has gone on for weeks. Jim put an unacceptable handrail in the garage after I told him that we had to be able to hold on to the rail. This took several visits as he would spend a few minutes to deliver wood, then another few minutes to bring screws. I became concerned and told him so, but he insisted that he was going to do the work. I didn't like what he had done in the garage and told him not to do anything outside the house. I subsequently hired a man to install a metal handrail at the front door. Meanwhile, this man has my money, appears to be using it to travel and socialize. I demanded a refund and he still insisted he was going to do the work. As of this date he has only done the garage rail which will have to be modified to make it usable and patched a hole in my wall. He didn't even sand the plaster or paint it. I plan to speak to the Sherriff next week as I feel as though he has conned me and never planned to do much of anything. I'm disappointed in Home Advisors for referring him to me after another company did not call me. My advice to anyone who considers hiring Jim is BEWARE AND DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY MONEY UNLESS HE COMPLETES THE WORK TO YOUR SATISFACTION!

very hard to get him to come at appointed time. He wouldn't nail down a quote. He constantly talked over me and I found him extremely rude. It took him 3 hours to replace a bathroom faucet and he charges 35.00 hour plus 35.00 to come out to the house.
Response from Mtn. House Doctor
"Lisa I am sorry about your experience, please call me to discuss what we can do ."
