Murphy Family Electric

BLUF: I did not have a good experience with Murphy Family Electric. I had a electrical short in the basement that happened when I was attempting to simply remove the outlet cover plate so my wife could paint the walls. When the plug receptacle broke in half removing the cover plate, I decided it was best to replace all the old plug receptacles (about 55 yrs old). They still did not work upon replacing, as well as other outlets in the series. .I sent a request for Murphy to come out and access the situation and fix the short. I paid over $400 for 3.5 hrs to ensure there would be adequate time to trouble shoot and fix, as well as give an estimate to replace the main distribution panel. The tech came out and was unable in 3.5 hrs to determine the source of the problem and fix the short. At the end of the time he was in a hurry to leave and said there was nothing he could do unless I was willing to be charged for further service. I was not impressed with his ability to isolate the short and fix what I believe is a fairly common issue, so I opted out. I was able to schedule another company to come and look at the problem. In less that one hour they determined I had a bad breaker and located and repaired the short. When I contacted Murphy about my dissatisfaction with their service they assured me they would talk with the tech and call me back. Needless to say I never received a return call and all I received was an e-mail with a discount code for future service. Sadly I am still out the $464. As a result I will sadly not be recommending Murphy Family Electric to anyone. I just left a voicemail and am waited for a return call. I received a text message back saying the electrician changed the breaker. I know he did not because I was with him the entire time. He could tell the breaker was tripping, but did not consider changing it to see if that was the problem. It took Dane Electric less than one hour to isolate the problem and replace the breaker. The good news is we have power in the basement against...The bad news is I am still out $464 dollars.

Jake did a great job installing a new attic fan to replace a noisy one that had outlived its usefulness. He was running late for our appointment time but kept me apprised of his progress as he neared my location. Arrived with all the necessary tools and ladders. He went to work and had the fan installed and tested within an hour. Very respectful of my home and cleaned up afterward. He even took the box for the fan out to the trash. Will definitely use Murphys again.

The technician came and immediately assess the non working outlets. Notified us that we should call our Electric company to have them check the electricity into the house. It was nothing they could do, their test of the circuits pointed to the Electric company. But I was charged the service call fee and time Uggghh. That's why the low rating on value for money.

Murphy Family Electric responded to my request for service on the same day. The worker was efficient, quick, and friendly. He changed out an old EV charger for a new Tesla one. I highly recommend this company! Outstanding work!
