How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I enjoy working with my hands, solving problems, and helping people improve their homes. After serving 21 years in the Army, I wanted a career where I could continue making a positive impact by providing reliable, high-quality services. Being a handyman allows me to combine my skills in precision, discipline, and attention to detail while giving homeowners peace of mind that their repairs are in trusted hands. I take pride in delivering work that’s done right the first time and making my clients' lives easier..

Hire a Handyman

Orlando is a perfectionist. He does the job right the 1st time. He will check with U to make sure its what U want. He cleans up after every job. He installed a very heavy microwave above my stove, he also fixed my closet and made repairs to my shed inside and out. I will be hiring him again for 2 additional projects. Gob bless him and thank U for all your hard work. PS: He comes prepare for the job to be done.

Repair Drywall

Call Ranger Home Repairs if you want the job done right. They did an excellent job on repairing whole garage ceiling drywall, put in new outlets to accommodate new garage door openers, and new light switch for old light that had a pull string, also moved garage light that was not centered. Now whole garage has even lighting. Paid attention to details, respectful of property, reasonable price, and job done in time quoted. Thank you for giving me peace of mind. Will call on them again!

Repair or Partially Replace a Wood Fence

We had a wood privacy fence that was damaged after some harsh winds that needed repair. Orlando replaced the damaged pieces and used the serviceable materials from the original fence helping us save on cost while maintaining the original look of our fence. He was quick to respond to our request on was on time and very easy to communicate with. The repairs were done quickly and very efficiently, getting our yard back to normal. Paint, Varnish or Stain Interior Surfaces

Orlando did a wonderful job painting the interior of my property and also repaired some nicks on the drywall, installed 2 doors that needed replacing. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
