I am a local Realtor. I hired NR Contracting based on reviews from homeadvisor. Soon after the project started we had issues. I had a 30x36 addition and 14x16 addition added to my home extending my basement and upper level. They were hired to put the structure in the dry only, doing the plumbing and electrical too. Several corners were cut and lack of supervision with employees posed issues. Without my consent the moisture barrier was left out & wasn't used when my basement garage was poured. During the initial consultation discussing the addition we discussed taking every precaution not wanting to have ANY water or moisture issues because the garage was initially supposed to be bedrooms. I later found out he contracted the worst concrete guy in the area. I have chronic standing water after each rain due to hydrostatic pressure coming through the floor. French drains were not installed correctly. Drain pipe was laid on top of the footing instead of below and back-filled with the excavated boulders & clay dirt from the basement, clogging the holes in the pipe. After calling other people they couldn't believe what they saw and asked where we found our contractor. We called Nick and gave him an opportunity to make things right, he came to fix it. We supervised the job thankfully, or would have had worse issues than before. The drain pipe they were going to use wasn't perforated after closer inspection by the homeowner before the re-installation of the FD. They wanted to use the decorative vinyl siding lighting blocks so not to have issues with making precise cuts, we agreed. These were installed without putting electrical boxes in behind and done later leaving a hole so large in the plastic the lighting fixture base wouldn't cover the hole. We had them put on a metal roof which began leaking around the chimney because it wasn't flashed correctly and insufficient amount of screws were used after further looking by a roofer. We were charged for things we found unused and loaded up on their flatbed to be hauled off. Nick presented his company well transposing our plans into his cad program giving us a detail look on paper assuring us he would be on the job making sure things were done properly and to our satisfaction and giving us a quality product when he was done. When issues were presented as noted above satisfaction was a fight and cheap tacky fixes were the solution. I dealt with side stepping or being made to feel I was over reacting to defuse the issue. We were told he didn't do french doors due to issues with them and he didn't use box stores. To our surprise we came home to find a french door from lowes had been installed and he didnt realize it. He didnt want to change it out until I kept on. The 2nd door installed wasn't put in right and it became a battle so we rehung the patio door ourselves. We had to point out the fact the header was cut to short for the patio door and not supported properly. Can lights were installed and not wire
Response from NR Contracting
"In response to this review I would like to state that all issues presented to me were taken care of in a expeditious manner and to the acceptance of the of the home owner. The customer was not charged any extra money above the contract amount. I took full responsibility for any issues that happened and corrected them to customer satisfaction. The reason for time extension on the project was due to funds availability and the fact it was in winter weather. I strive to do good quality work in a timely manner but some customers want more than they can pay fore. This project was postponed two times due to her personal issues and this causes scheduling problems for me. As fore materials being taken off the job, none of the material purchased for this project were hauled off by anyone in my organization. I take full responsibility for any issues on my part and have taken care of them. The project was not supposed to be completed by my company as the terms of the contract stated it was the responsibility of the customer. The water issue presented was due to the refusal of the customer to install guttering and to couture the surrounding area to repel runoff water. These items were the customers responsibility as to the terms of the contract. I don't know how a professional can give an opinion of a drain system without digging it up to inspect it. this was not done. At my expense I installed a French drain system on the perimeter of the footing and a membrane on the walls and contoured the surrounding area to repel water. We completed the project over two years ago and all warranty was in place. After that I have not heard from anyone on this project."

If I could give him more than a 5 star rating I would! Nick has gone above and beyond our expectations! My house is the most beautiful house I've ever seen (no exaggeration). The inside is a picturesque house like what you would see in a magazine. My husband and I had a very strict budget that were needed to stay within range of, and Nick stayed in that budget and still gave us the home of our dreams, plus some! We received more than we even imagined. I also trust him like I do my own family. Before we began building, we knew we needed a down to earth person, with lots of experience, who wouldn't take advantage of us. As soon as we met Nick, we knew he was exactly who we needed. And we are so happy with our decision. I couldn't imagine it turning out this beautifully with anyone else. If you need a home built, please do not hesitate to call NR Contracting. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Response from NR Contracting
"In todays market the ever changing cost of materials is going up and up. It is getting more and more difficult to meet the needs of the customer within a budget that is affordable to there budget abilities. Cost of overhead is increasing as well and as a builder I have to get creative to make a project affordable and still make enough to stay in business."

Nick was such a pleasure to work with and I appreciated all he did to help me with decisions about my first remodel ever. He was there every day just as he said he would be, he called if he couldn't make it. He was intent on detail and I can tell he is willing to go that "extra" to do a great job. I have already referred people to him and can only say I would use him again if I needed to. I have never had a contractor tell me he was going to do something and actually show up to do it!!!! thank you Nick, I waited 4 years to find the right person for this project and for it to be done. I truely appreciate his help and hard work. Jann richard
