Reviews
Write a ReviewReplaced roof, gutters, downspouts, and gutter guards. Excellent experience from start to finish. Mr McDermott was very responsive and clearly explained the materials and install process. Both install crews were on time, worked quickly, and thoroughly cleaned up all debris. Good pricing and value. I am extremely happy with the finished project. Would absolutely hire NewBrook again.
From the moment we contacted Dermot to the completion of the product it was smooth and very seamless. We were happy with the product and will be contacting Dermot for further household projects. Very communicative and prompt.
The whole process was professional beginning to end. The gutters look and work very well. We would absolutely use this company again.
The project was replacement of roofs on a house and a detached (large) garage. Dermot McDermott, NewBrook's owner, responded to my inquiry within minutes. Four days later, he provided a very competitive estimate and completed both roofs 7 days after that. His crew completed the job in one day and left the property cleaner than when they started work. I am very pleased with the results.
I chose NewBrook Home Improvement to replace the roofing on my house. Mr. McDermott is professional and personable and seems to really care about the quality of work provided by his company. His quote was not the lowest I received, but it was fair as the quality of materials he uses are better than what others offered. The work was performed exactly as scheduled and their cleanup was thorough. My only reservation about my new roof is the appearance and has nothing to do with the quality of the job done. Mr. McDermott has assured me that this is the way this new roofing appears and my husband (who has worked around new residential construction for over 30yrs.) has told me that the work is fine. These shingles are not the traditional uniform rectangular shingles. The shapes are random and this can look sloppy in some areas. The pictures of the product in the brochure do not look quite as random as the actual finished product, something you might consider if you are considering this product.
This was a simple roof repair. Three guys showed up. They were stopping by one their way back from a roof replacing job. It took one of the guys about 15 minutes to replace two asphalt shingles. Not much else to say except it cost me $250. Pricey. The manager did give me a discount should I ever decide to have my entire roof replaced so...
NewBrook went above and beyond just roofing. They fixed the down water spouts and the missing siding as well. Great job.
The subcontractor that Mr. MC Dermot used was horrendous in our experience. The only thing in their defense was they never had proper blueprints. This was a combination of bad planning and attempting to save money on the prints. There were specific drawings to go by that would have been great reference if the blueprints were done by a professional. Everything started out really well but these gents never truly worked consistently enough to accomplish things in a timely manner. Time they say is money , our job was never a priority to Dermot's 50 East crew. When you read their introductory statements on either of there sites it is so far removed from what we experienced. They appeared to be in over there heads. A 5 to 7 month project took over a year. Yes weather played a roll in the build . However when you average !.5 to 2 days a week on site it is hard to accomplish things in a timely and professional manner. The owner of %) East would lead you to believe he is always on the job, that is absolute fiction. Also the line about we clean the job site every day , more fiction. When this crew did show up you were lucky if you got more than 6 to 6.5 hrs per day. Any way in closing I am sure they do excellent work for some, we just did not ever receive their best. I must finish by saying Dermot did send some excellent contractors here, the siding crew, the gutter crew, the plumber ( i had to locate for them ) A BetterPlumber. The excavator Matt as well. All these gentlemen were professional, timely and worked full days. Hopefully for Dermot's sake he has cut all ties with 50 East. Or at least never lets 50 East's owner bid a job this big for him again. I believe deep down that Dermot is a decent man, he just made bad choices where we were concerned. It must be stated that I do have ample info to back my writings up. Pictures alone could show how many inspections were failed in finishing this project. Which by the way was never completely finished. Good luck I hope your experiences our better. I do think it was just good intentions that did not work out as planned. The addition is solid and structurally they did a good job.
There were a couple of minor issues with flashings after the job was done that were picked up by the insurance inspector. I brought this to the partners' attention and they were happy to resolve it promptly.
Dermot's crew arrived as scheduled and worked efficiently and cleaned-up when done. Unfortunately they got caught in a sudden downpour of rain and severe lightning and were not able to properly cover the roof entirely. This led to some roof leaks and ceiling damage. Dermot immediately brought over a repair estimator and scheduled the repair work to be done on his dime. First class service. Definitely will use again and recommend to others.
