"I do not usually respond to my ratings, but this one is laughable. I have been in the building industry since 1978 and have building homes in a Minneapolis suburb till I moved up her and started again about six years ago and hold a Builder's License as well as a Dwelling Qualifier License which is very hard to get, letting me as a contractor take all permits out. The home was constructed with a bank construction loan, so it was not only inspected from the state but also periodically from the loan department with no problem at all. The customer had no real knowledge of construction, but obviously thought so. Do to the Covid all material was out more than 3 months and we made everything happen as fast as possible and saved him thousands. He is also a liar! Handicapped ramps were never mentioned at all. He could easily have mentioned that as we built the stairs since he was there mostly 4 days out of the week and still texted me 5-6 times a week about the same items and I responded as often as I could. He purchased the cheapest, showers I have ever seen so there was no way my plumbers would install and guaranty results! As soon as the house was under roof, he filled the garage with cabinets and appliances so we could not use that for staging our equipment for finishing. He also filled up the basement with furniture and junk before the plumbers, electricians and heating persons were done!!! The work site was kept clean, but it was still a construction site. Him and his wife was there constantly fine cleaning long before necessary. I use a cad program to create all my own plans and drawings. Blueprints has not been used for ages since the modern cads came to be. Of course, complete plans and drawings were done. How else would we get the permits? Again laughable, he has full sets! Another lie! As far as the scratches on the floor, we have no idea who made them since he was moving in furniture and other stuff all the time. They could easily be made by them. I never insulate the basement till all the subs are out of there, just in case! He was nagging me offered to do it himself, so I got the material and let him do it! He owns a Bobcat and wanted to do all lot prep and landscaping himself. What a mistake! Ther is no wonder there may be problems. He never listened to what needed to be done but took it on himself to do what he wanted, very badly at that. Right before the house closed I had several future customers walk through and they were all complimenting how good everything looked except for the work they took on themself. Some of it horrible. I will ty to have them contact Angi's list and post comments. I have pictures and plans for anyone to see. They said the agreed budget was $ 200,000.00. Maybe the original budget for them. They signed a contract for $287,892.00 and that was met! I used change orders where needed, but a few things like the wanted the garage door to be 9' tall rather than 8' at the time of contract signing, so I said ok as long as they would pay for it and I offered t have it insulated for free. A mistake, they never paid for the larger door! Very expensive. They talk about proper tools! What fools! After more than 40 years in the business, are they kidding! Since all new homes have to be inspected and meet UBC ( Uniformed Building Codes), it's impossible to build to lesser energy efficiency than the contract specifies, and the law requires. Another lie? Since we were building during Covid I allowed the customer great leeway's as far as spending time during the project other than a couple hrs. each week to see the progress. I guess that backfired. I had told th customer that I would help him with some things not in the contract, but after this. No way! I am in contact with Sylvin Help Center to see if further legal action for defamation is needed, For anyone that is reading this and need some info, please contact me at "Blovaas52@outlook.com" Thanks."
