Rick has been a godsend. He bid on our exterior staircase and ended up helping us on so many areas in our 100 year old house. Fixed a bunch of framing issues, leveled floors, fixed roofing leaks etc. The staircase itself is built like a tank. The attention to detail is terrific. Additionally, he's a straight up guy to work with. Does what he says and when he says. He's extremely flexible and open to doing what we need and when we need. Additionally he knows how to work with the city and to get high quality work done that will sail through city inspections. Highly recommend Rick for any major construction work in the Santa Cruz and surrounding areas.

The job was to replace the exterior part of a major structural beam that had dry rot, and totally replace the railing system on a second-floor balcony (about 10' by 25') that was also infested with dry rot. There was one other area that we were told had dry rot, the front barge beams, but no dry rot was found after close inspection by Rick, so they just re-painted that area rather than doing any work there. They were able to schedule us in quickly, since it was just a 2-day job, so fit well between larger projects. Rick, the owner/contractor was very friendly, and respected our space by wearing a face mask while he was inside our house for estimates, and during our conversations. They did a workman-like job, completed the work just as we originally discussed. Nicely done, with attention to attractive finishing. Even the finish painting was well done. Cleanup was completely done, they didn't leave any trash and cleaned up and took all the debris. I was very happy with that, I hate to have to spend hours cleaning up after a contractor to whom I've just paid premium money. We were happy with Rick and his crew, and definitely want to use him again next time we need construction work done. Easy to work with, and made the right decisions during the course of their work. That's important to me, I've had contractors who, when faced with a decision on materials or technique, pretty much made the wrong decision for our tastes most of the time. Rick was right on with the decisions that he made as the work progressed, which makes us much happier with the results. Highly recommended.
