The deck was done in a timely manner, as well as completed above expectations. Quality over quantity is what the owner of NMS stand for. They will take their time and work with you and are very reasonable.

Hired them in October and Fired them In December. This company is a mess. The Salesperson Jim Laforest left the company and sent out a email informing all clients that he left - I responded to all of them that I am waiting for Northern Michigan Services - Mancelona to return my down payment check immediately or I am going to the Michigan State police to report this scam on taking money and doing nothing. I later found out that the previous Co-Owner Eric Garrison Co-Owner/Project manger who never returned any of my calls and voice mail was always full is now ex-owner. Feed up with them and if I do not see a check returned I will be pursuing legal action against all of them. Posting to make sure no one else has to put up with such an unprofessional group. (Jim Laforest was the only person I had personal contact with and trusted to do the right thing and he did - he quit the company and emailed all of his Clients - Thanks Jim!)

Hired NMS Sept. 15, 2020. Was told job would be done week of Oct. 10, 2020. Materials were finally dropped off Nov. 3, 2020. It is now Dec. 5, 2020, and this is all the further they have gotten. NMS NEVER returns phone calls! They had been answering emails, but now that has seemed to have stopped too. Was told by Eric (Garrison) Mike would be out Nov. 30, 2020, but he has not shown yet. Last email answered, Eric said he would look into it and get back to us. That was Dec. 1, 2020. We have left 3 emails since then, but no reply. Maybe because we told them if the roof was not going to get done before 2021, we want a refund, and for them to pick up their materials. Even with Covid and & family matters this is NO way to run a Business!

He didn't finish the job and as a result I had a leak in my home.

We are building a small greenhouse which required some very extensive custom metalwork. We tried several companies, but once we talked to Mike, we made the decision to hire them. The installation team was very courteous and professional. We will definitely call them if we need additional work.

They are very professional and punctual. They knew the scope of the work required. I sold a home and needed home inspection issues resolved. I worked with them on past projects and always was highly satisfied.

We are very please only one thing Iâ d do better is more Communication to keep the customer updated on the process

NMS also installed vinyl siding and two new decks. From Ryan, our salesman, Eric, the project manager and Ray, the owner, everyone communicated well throughout a difficult time (covid-19). The workmanship and commitment to customer service was clearly a driving force behind their company. The work site was always neat and hazard free. Ray personally collaborated with us to design the deck and made recommendations throughout. Our home looks beautiful and we have Northern Michigan Services to thank. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for these services.

Northern Michigan Services responded quickly and worked with our schedule during a period of high water on our property. They offered to find an excavator for driveway repair and transported shingles in private pickup trucks across a flooded driveway. Thank you to Ray and his team.

My husband and I just had a metal roof put on. They were very polite, and communication was outstanding, from when we first set the appointment for the estimate, all the way through the entire project. They keep us in the loop and were very detailed when explaining things to me to relay to my husband while he was busy at work. The crew that came out was very respectful, and hard working. From first meeting Raymond on site for an estimate to dealing with Eric, project manager, it was a very simple process. We had communicated back & forth with timely efforts. It was very painless. I would highly recommend them to amyone looking to get a roof installation. Very professional service, products and crew members. I will definitely hire them for furure projects around my home

Im really not even sure where to start with this review. I guess the first thing I would say is for your own sake if you are reading this trying to decide if you are going to use Northern Michigan Services dont. They are not capable of doing the work they say they are going to. The salesman Tim H. didn t respond to a single email after I signed the contract and made the down payment. As of this writing the metal for our house has been in our yard for seven weeks. Three of those weeks without a single thing being done on our house. I emailed the day after the metal landed in our yard and got nothing back. I emailed several times before they started work and was ignored every time. Neither Tim or Ray either one have answered a single email after I gave them our down payment. When the work started it was sporadic at best. The crew showed up one day and ripped most of the old roof off but left it open. Over a week later after I had been contacting them asking when work would start again I left a message on their Facebook asking if I needed to contact a lawyer to get the work started again I was finally contacted by Eric. He assured me the crew would be back on the next Monday to get the work done. Monday came and went with no one. I sent Eric a message telling him I could see contacting him didn t do me any good. He called apologized and guaranteed me someone would be there the next day. So Tuesday came and went and no one showed up again. Then Wednesday morning came and it rained. I went out to my garage to start my car and rain was coming in the garage. I sent Eric a text telling him my garage was getting wet and that he had better hope my house wasn t. My wife and I went to the gym. When We got done there I dropped her at our business and went back to the house. I walked in the door to find water in 5 out of 7 rooms in our house. We had standing water in three places on our floor. There was water coming out from behind our shower kit into the tub. So I contacted Eric telling him about it and that I was very unhappy. He sent a crew right away to the house, which means the crew was there an hour and a half later. He showed up over two hours later with his assistant. He walked through the house with me to look at all the damage. In that process he checked a couple walls with a moisture gauge and found them and one ceiling at 100% saturation. He said they would take care of the damage and that we needed to start the drying process or mold would start in 72 hours. Two days later after they had done nothing to start the drying process I contacted another company here in Traverse City. Their guy came out to find a lot more damage then you could see. So today 10 days after the water came, 7 weeks after the metal landed in our yard the roof looks like it might be done. Northern Michigan services still hasn t asked or done anything about the mold growing in our house. We have now contacted our insurance agency and they are going to handle it with a mitigation company, and a different contractor to get the work done right. Then they will go back and get what they can out of Northern Michigan Services. Oh and I gave the insurance company Tim H.'s contact information. Maybe he will answer the phone for them. Either way I hope they have good insurance. It looks like we will be out of our house for at least a month because of this, probably closer to two months.

Lumber/bags of concrete tossed on lawn, not all on our property. Called to complain, no one showed up and we restacked ourselves after 1 week. Per contract to be done by end of July 2020. Rescheduled numerous times all by email, no personal contact. Workers showed up August 21, 2020 with no notice. Worked 10-5 first day, 10:30 - 5 second day, told them not to show third day due to being Sunday and we had previous plans, worked 1-6 on fourth day, called at 11:30 fifth day to say on their way then never showed, no show on sixth day. 3rd rate crew sent to us, calls & emails sent letting them know we were not happy, no response by owner. Deck almost finished then we find out no permits were pulled. Permits were applied for 1 week after project was started and after we filed complaint with building Dept. Building inspector came out at our request, found numerous issues and told us entire deck will need to be torn out and redone to bring up to code. Footings not done to code and already sinking at one end. Composite decking scratched due to tools being dragged over them, uneven installation. Plain and simple this job is a disaster and there is no communication between owner, project manager, workers and customers. Only gave half stars because this site doesnt have negative stars. We have already hired an attorney. Complaint already filed with Better Business Bureau.

The crew were professional, polite, and very accommodating. They tore off the asphalt shingles, replace some damaged wood, and installed a steel roof. Took about three days. I'm not sure I remember seeing them even take a break. I would definitely recommend this crew to anyone.

I contacted Northern Michigan Services about replacing my roof. They contacted me back and were very friendly and quick to get back with any questions or concerns that I had. My roof was replaced by them and they kept in contact the whole time while the crew was here replacing it. It was done in a timely matter. I couldnt be anymore happier with how things turned out. I am still waiting for them to do the work. At that time I will do an evaluation. At this point I am still waiting, waiting, and waiting. They have changed the time twice as to when they will come and do the work. They have half of the money in a down payment. Thank you.

The crew did a great job and tore off/ replaced asphalt shingles (CertainTeed Northgate) in 2-1/2 very hot days. My wife was home alone and everyone was very respectful. Completely satisfied!

I initially called for a different project. But Eric was honest in telling me that wasn t necessary; some kiltz could fix the problem. I then asked him about tearing my deck off. Eric gave me a quote and had it done within a week.
