"This is a difficult one. There are many factors that contributed to the failure of this project. Anything I say will look like I want to blame the circumstances or someone else, though they would be an explanation of understanding. All I can say is yes this job got messed up and ultimately I am responsible for everything that happens with Harmony Design. I made quite a few mistakes starting with allowing my price to be cut over $8000 in the original negotiations, continuing by starting the project while I could not give it my full attention because I was working on a deck across the street, and finally hiring a sub who was a slick talker, that I did not due my due diligence in vetting him for the job. What is being categorized here as not taking responsibility was an accurate explanation of what occurred, not a shrinking away from the situation. The customer's and I negotiated a cut loose agreement where I returned $8000 to them so we could move on from the project. This was paid as agreed. We also cleaned up a site that was a construction site where we had been instructed to not step on the property immediately, though I attempted to make good on it all at my expense. It's hard when a customer looses faith in you or maybe never had faith in you in the first place and was swayed by the same smooth talking sub who was doing that part of the job. Yes I messed up and learned a tremendous amount from the experience. Thank You for the opportunity to respond."
