This review comes about 6 months later than it should, because the problems with Ohara Builds continue to multiply. I have never dealt with a company that has less professionalism nor actual expertise in construction and building. Withe very fiber of your being you should avoid Ohara builds at all costs. You would be better hiring your cousins nephews fathers former roommate than any individual at Oâ Hara Builds. To be entirely fair our project manager instructed us not to interact with the staff at Oâ Hara during our ADU construction. However, we still lived on site and as responsible property owners we checked in with everyone, every day (assuming Oâ Hara was there on that day or even once a week or once a month? Sometimes not for months at all). But as delays began to mount up, we sought out Sean Oâ Hara, the lead contractor that was OCCASIONALLY on site when we found our difficult project management team to get a hold of. On one of these occasions Sean bragged that he puts his newest most inexperienced staff on residential projects to get the experience before placing them on larger commercial accounts. This isnt big concern as long as there is steady supervision, RIGHT? There was no supervision, the inexperienced staff built our entire ADU, and as such, the home continues to have problems 6 months later. Often times we would go weeks without seeing a single contractor on site. Which was especially frustrating because every morning we would move our horses into a smaller pasture, where they were not pleased, only to find out nobody showed up. Lets about Sean for a second, this man is the definition of a con man. He will sweet talk you about the project and make you feel at ease, despite the fact that he has the least experienced staff working the project. Do not believe his lies, they will cut every corner possible. One such event we were told that the toilet we had picked out was not available in California actually they said this about literally every fixture we picked out) I laughed out loud on the phone when I heard this because we had picked out a Niagara Stealth, which is LITERALLY the most efficient toilet on the market and recommended by the California Department of Water Resources in a state that, you know, is drought ridden. The truth? Sean and his cronies wanted to install their toilets that they had bought in bulk to save money. They will tell you this not available in California lie up and down because they know that they work in traditionally conservative regions that tend to get frustrated about California restrictions. Make no mistake, they are lying through their teeth. Oâ Hara continued to show they are the worst company. In the home that was being built for two people with an infant, their workers smoked inside the home when cabinets were being installed. We did not want them smoking on the property at all, but hey if they were outside they could give themselves lung cancer if they wanted. Inside the home though? AFTER DRY WALL WAS INSTALLED Lets move on to the floors, because these goons dragged their feet out putting in electrical lines, the floors were not acclimated to any sort of climate like they are supposed to be. They are now coming apart. Guess we need to replace the floors in a 6 month old home. The water heater they installed was moved incorrectly and threw errors the moment the home got power. We have had to replace the water heater in the first month of living there. They never finished installing the HVAC and stole the thermostat remotes, probably to sell to make up the cost of their stupid toilet, and now we found out they did not insulate the HVAC lines, which is causing condensation to create mold and water damage on the walls. After all these mistakes, Oâ Hara attempted to put a lien on our house after they were fired. Never hire this company. They are thieves, liars, and unprofessional losers.
