WARNING: AVOID RICK'S HOME REMODELING or RICK'S HOME REMODELING AND HANDYMAN SERVICES (Same Company) We had Rick come out to give us an estimate for tearing up and installing new tile flooring which we moved forward because the price was right. Initially, things seemed to be going well. Rick was friendly and persuaded us to hire him for a few additional small jobs around the house while his workers were inside working on the floor. About a week into the project, Rick requested a portion of the payment in cash to pay his workers. He stated that his workers needed to be paid in cash. The remainder was to be paid via Venmo and check. While I was at a sporting event, he repeatedly asked me to Venmo the remaining payment since the floor was done. I trusted him, and that was entirely my mistake. I should have known better. When I returned home and saw the finished work, I was horrified! There were glue footprints all over our brand new tile floor, grout lines were uneven, grout was everywhere, the tile was uneven, paint was missing under cabinets, and my door wouldn't close properly, among many other careless errors that a "professional" should have been aware of. My husband contacted Rick to fix the issues immediately. Rick returned but the floor was ruined. He claimed he never trained his workers to use sanded grout, even though thats what he requested for us to buy. After about a month of Rick coming back twice a week for 10-15 minutes each time and failing to make any progress my husband and I were forced to hire another company to correct his mistakes, which ended up costing us more than double. Rick's consistent excuses and failure to reimburse us left us profoundly disappointed. I strongly discourage anyone against hiring Rick's Home Remodeling. Even though he promised to reimburse us for the trouble, he never followed through. While I am not one to leave negative reviews, I wish I would have done more research before hiring.

I would never hire him

We hired Ricks Home Remodeling to replace 37 windows in our home, to replace rotten wood, and paint our house. He incorrectly measured several windows and this was confirmed by the window manufacturer, three other A+ BBB window companies in my area and an independent home inspector. There are huge gaps under some windows, one window measured four inches too tall and two inches too narrow, and one window he left a huge gap in the siding which was also incorrectly measured. He ripped out an old window without confirming the new window was the correct size. (I was told that was window replacement 101 and only someone who had no idea what they were doing would make that rookie mistake) he damaged the stone, siding, and sheetrock of my homemaking an incorrectly measured window. All of those have to be repaired before a correctly sized window is put in its place. He will not admit to incorrectly measuring any windows except for four but it was confirmed by the manufacturer after they reviewed the work that he incorrectly measured most of them. He did admit to incorrectly measuring four windows in the family room and wanted to correct it by putting two by fours to shim out the windows decreasing a significant part of our view of the golf course in our backyard. Rick response is now is to call us crazy and anal-retentive. It will cost us thousands of dollars to fix the work he did. I would never recommend this person to anyone! *Your comments calling me mentally crazy is simply you projecting and speaks exactly to your lack of professionalism, the Window Manufacturer, who you bought the windows from, your painters, three other window companies and a professional home inspector respectfully disagree with your assessment that you measured or installed any of the windows correctly. We checked with the Secretary of State and you have no business license or insurance on file and you broke the law entering into a contract for work over $30,000 without a general contractor license. You did not paint my house J&O Painting did, and they did a great job trying to fix your horrible caulking and painting you attempted. They agree with me that your work was shoddy. ( I have it in writing)..The general manager at Alside was appalled when he saw how poorly the windows were measured and installed. (I have it in writing) Alside did everything they could to help remedy the situation but unfortunately the situation is beyond repair and we will have to start over. Alside does not deal directly with the public, so I will have to go with a different company. Every one of your lies has been exposed (telling me that Alside incorrectly put in the measurements because their general manager wife died?) I was informed she was home quite alive and well and they had no idea what you were talking about! You have no excuse as to why the windows were measured incorrectly all we ever heard was you measured them three times, if that is true (which I suspect it is not) it shows you are truly not experienced in measuring windows. Bottom line, in my opinion, you are unqualified to replace windows as you have no idea how to measure or install them. There is now water coming into the house from the office window and water trapped under several windows that have huge gaps at the bottom. I will be glad to provide pictures to anyone that would like to see them. I would encourage anyone contemplating using you to also check out your negative reviews on Craig list and on this site. They are spot on and we wish we would have read them before hiring you. We are out over $30,000 in windows alone, and have had a company attempt to caulk and foam the windows you installed and replace the office sill by building a temporary one while we wait on new windows which will take months and months to receive. Hiring Rick Home Remodeling was the biggest mistake we have ever made.. Rick.. see you in arbitration.

Rick came to our house to repair a door frame that was falling off the studs. Rick was very friendly, knew what he was doing, and the job was reasonably priced. The company was very communicative about when they could show up and they performed the work professionally with no hassles. I will definitely be using Rick again in the future for remodeling and repair jobs. This is a company you can trust!

Rick is a man of faith with a dependable crew. He is honest and straightforward and delivers what he promises on schedule.

Rick is a great guy and he is very fair when it comes to charges for the service he is providing. Rick stands behind the work he provides and sees it through properly. Rick was the only Contractor that responded to my request after 4 months of trying. My only comment would be that he is better prepared when arriving to the job and he pays better attention to the details. A job that could have been completed in one day took two trips and another day home from work. Overall I would recommend Rick for anything you need.

When I hired them I didn t know the job was going to be so complicated, Rick and his team made sure all and any other concerns were taken care of. Working late, made sure I knew anything and everything that they were doing, even going to beyond by taking pictures for me and my husband, when he found something that needed to be addressed. I highly recommend this company.

I have never worked with any contractor who communicated as well and as promptly as Rick. Every text was answered almost within minutes. He was conscientious, friendly, and professional. He even came back to fix a few areas AFTER he had been paid in full. I requested the work to be completed before a family wedding. That probably pushed Rick time-wise, but he was able and willing to get the work completed. Thanks.

Friendly on time and professional!

Finding a handyman that will not only quote a job but actually show up is a challenge in the Raleigh NC area. Hard to be a handyman when you don't show up to do the work. Rick not only quotes the job but shows up when he says he will and completes the work. Rick and his team hung Christmas lights at heights I don't want to go to anymore. When Christmas was over ... he came back ... and took the lights down. Rick does what he says he'll do. He talks the talk and walks the walk. Too many others just talk the talk.

I had Rick put a roof on my flat deck roof. He said a metal roof will work best on a flat roof. The roof leaked after he put the new roof on. He said that side of the roof was sagging that's why it leaked. So he fixed that. It still leaked. So he put flashing up. And that didn't work. Then he said he promised me that if he raised that side of the roof it would stop leaking. It still leaks. After almost $1,000 into this roof he said he would have to do the hole roof off and build it different. I already paid him a lot of money to fix the roof now he still wants to charge me more. I will never have him fix anything again. He is a liar and a thief.

Rick was very thorough. He did quality work. He is a very hard worker. In addition he called our attention to some things that we would have overlooked or put off until the damage could have been more extensive.
