I employed Tom to do a major pool renovation along with re-landscaping my back yard which included Travertine and artificial grass. Tom impressed me with his attention to detail and held the contractors to the highest of standards. On more than one occasion he had contractors come back and address areas he was not happy with and honestly things that I hadn’t noticed until they were pointed out. Tom demonstrated above average competence and knowledge in all facets of my project. I was kept well informed throughout with timelines and completion dates which instilled a great sense of confidence and satisfaction. I never had to worry about anything! Tom went above and beyond throughout and the final project came to completion timely. In the end, my pool and yard are amazing and the talk of the neighborhood! Lastly, Tom came in below budget which is inconceivable to me considering the finished product. I encourage anyone looking for any type of pool / yard renovation to talk Tom!

Tom has a great deal of experience in every facet of pool construction and was there every step of the way. He was on site overseeing every subcontractor. Whenever I called, he answered the phone and was very responsive to changes I wanted to make or to answer questions that arose. His advice and expertise was invaluable. He not only helped us decide what we wanted, but steered us away from what we shouldn't do. Tom is also very friendly and personable and we enjoyed working with him. We are extremely happy with the pool and our grandchildren are overjoyed!

Tom completely upgraded our pool about 18 months ago. After that amount of time, I have to say that the pool is fantastic. It is extremely easy to maintain and we are very pleased we followed Tom's suggestions. I would highly recommend him for any pool work. He really knows pools and how to make them a pleasure to have and to maintain..

We are remodeling our 38-year old pool with new plaster, tile, plumbing, decking, and a water feature, Tom is a pleasure to work with. He has good ideas and he is on the job site on a daily basis to check on the progress. His work ethic is outstanding and I won't hesitate to recommend Optima to my friends! Nice job Tom and crew!

Tom had great ideas for the redesign and resurfacing for our pool and patio area. He did a great job of keeping us up to date on what was coming next in the process and was readily available if we had any questions.

We are so glad we found Optima Pools and Tom Bessette for our pool remodel. Our 30+ year old pool looks brand new, with new waterfall, baja shelf, filtration equipment and more. Now, when we sit by the pool in our own backyard, we feel like we're at a destination resort we'd pay money to stay at! Tom's thoroughness, integrity, and experience were evident throughout the project, from initial meeting and proposal through to completion. In fact, we had such immediate trust in Tom that while his was the first proposal we received, it turned out to be the only proposal we sought (and that's atypical for us). His knowledge of what works (and what doesn't), and the trends, techniques, and products in swimming pool building is readily evident. Every step of the way, it felt like Tom was making experience based recommendations, while remaining mindful of our budget, as if it was his own pool and project. Tom was a constant presence during the work, hands on for many tasks and in a supervisory capacity for steps done by crews experienced in their specialty crafts - like the building of the waterfall feature. Our pool remodel was completed in the time frame promised; during the project we were always well informed of status, schedules, and next steps. Over the course of the project Tom became a friend, and since we are so pleased with our new pool and our experience, naturally, we will be continuing our relationship by having Optima perform our weekly pool maintenance.

Tom and Tyler were attentive. My pool was a disaster to start with. There were some complications after reconstruction was done but My pool sat empty for 1.5 yrs... But Tom was and is willing to answer questions. i was thinking about another company until I met him and he actually brought samples to the house to show me so I could see what the texture was like and the colors. Like any pool company they sub contract so waiting for the others to let Tom know when they would be there was a little nerve racking but it was in a timely manner. I had asked the other company if my filter doesn't work after the remodel what do I do... Their response was "you would have to have someone else to fix that." I want a one stop shop... Tom and Tyler went above and beyond what I have asked him to do and DID NOT COMPLAIN about it. He was and is very patient and explains step by step. He still allows me to call him with water questions. I am not comfortable with checking it myself and allowing the pool store to give direction. That is why I had a BLACK pool and fought it for 3 months before draining it 1.5 yrs ago.

After owning our home less than a year, we realized that our pool needed work. The original stone around the water feature had not been installed correctly and was starting to fall off. The plaster also needed to be resurfaced. We obtained three bids all in the same ball park. We selected Optima Pools because Tom appeared to be knowledgeable, a good communicator, and easy to work with. We were right! Tom spent time with us to help us define our project. This is the first time we've owned a pool and we learned a lot from Tom. We had the stone removed and replaced with tile, and we had the plaster removed and replaced with PebbleTec. Tom was very helpful at every step. He made the process of selecting tile and PebbleTec color very easy. Tom's crews (for removing the stone and plaster, applying the tile, and applying the PebbleTec) arrived on the job promptly, worked diligently and efficiently, cleaned up after themselves every day, and were unfailingly courteous. Tom was in regular contact with his crews either by phone, on-site visits, or through his assistant Tyler. The project was completed within the original timeline and our "new" pool is beautiful! Throughout the process, Tom kept us informed of when the crews could be expected and what we could expect at each stage of the project. He was also very easy to reach by phone or text whenever we had questions. If he needed to come to our house, he always called or texted to let us know when to expect him. Tom's services included draining the pool before the work began, refilling the pool when the work was complete, and the initial water treatment once the pool was filled. We learned a lot about pool water chemistry from Tom. We are very pleased with our pool and we highly recommend Tom and Optima Pools! We would not hesitate to hire Tom again!

Tom Bessette was excellent to work with both during the proposal process and the construction project. He has extensive knowledge of pool construction as well as all the equipment and systems. I got 6 bids for my project and he noticed things that all the others missed. He recommended better options to some of my pool problems. His subcontractors are excellent! They showed up on time and did high-quality work. My remodel looks better than my original pool ever looked. The most important thing I liked is that Tom stays in constant communication throughout the whole project, and is available at any time to answer any question. I highly recommend Tom and Optima Pools. He will complete the project to your highest satisfaction.

I had a hard time deciding on a contractor when Tom came along he made a lot of sense very knowledgeable very good price did an excellent job and done in a timely manner.

Project was done quickly and efficiently. Did a great overall job, love the pool! The only bad experience was with the tile team. There was a noticeable sag in the tile line. It took an unpleasant argument with the tile guy to get it fixed right. It looks great now, but I didn't need the aggravation. If not for that it would have been a perfect experience.

Thomas is a great person to work with. He did an amazing job. He was on time and very fast to finish the job.

I would highly recommend working with Tom and his team. His level of customer service and attentiveness to the job, checking in with me, stopping at the job site,making sure everything was done correctly is truly impressive. We had a tight timeline for his team to complete the job and Tom made sure that this job was completed in that time frame. I am contacting Tom and his team for two other jobs that I have and can safely recommend him and his team to anyone.

Although Optima Pools is renowned for their New Pool Builds...they also do remodel jobs...which is what we had done. We were on a tight budget and Tom Bessette....the General Contractor....worked with us on a one to one basis...no middle man. We were actually able to upgrade from plaster to pebble sheen with Optima Pools. Our remodel was done in just over a week. That included new cool decking which has to be untouched for several day's following...plus the Monsoon finally hit. Mr. Bessette through in a lot of little extras too...he didn't nickel and dime us. Everything went as planned and stated. We choice Optima Pools because they are Licensed and Bonded. Thank You Tom and team.

Beyond excellence! We have a 30 yr old pool that needed extreme remodeling including decking, drainage problems, pool surfacing, and adding a Baja step. We had put off this improvement for several years as we knew it would be major and wanted to do it right. We got quotes from seven companies. No other company listened to our requests and provided such a detailed and accurate quote. Tom listened to all our wishes and offered many great suggestions, changing things along the way as necessary. His lengthy career and knowledge of ALL facets of the pool building industry shows and is worth every penny. The baja step was an amazing addition and his suggestion to transition the step was to our existing loveseat created beautiful design. He was very open to our specific needs and vision for our project--which included many large fish tile mosaics, glow-in the dark step tiles, and need for cohesive decking. He solved drainage problems on our patio by installing a French drain under our the new paver decking. Tom showed up at critical times to oversee the subcontractors. Every subcontractor working on the project was A+ and professional. I wish I could post pictures on this site. In lieu of pictures, I would be happy to show any one our pool as a reference. Tom and his crew did a great job! They were very attentive to our design needs and adapted to needed changes very quickly. We had an old pool that needed restoration and some pump and piping changes. Tom jumped right in with ideas and solutions to help with our project. I will rely on him the next time we have any pool needs and recommend Optima Pools highly as a company that will do a great job!

This is a follow-up to my review of 4/2/206, where I posted my dissatisfaction with the outcome of resurfacing done to our pool. When Tom became aware of the quality issues, he did not rest until the problem was solved. We had to empty out the pool again to allow him to give it an acid wash and much scrubbing. He personally took charge of getting his team back out and supervised the refilling of the pool and getting the chemical balances of the fresh water just right, all the time keeping us updated. Pool looks great now!
