Payam from PC Max is great, he knows all about Macs and PCs and he's honest. He spent good time on checking the problem at my home and also his place which he had to open the iMac to check the hardware. I wanted to only recover my pictures and songs from my old iMac but the initial checking showed a part in the hardware that didn't work and to replace it to do the recovery is costly. I got a new computer in the meantime and Payam came over and patiently did a lot of the set ups I didn't know connecting to iPhone and iCloud, texting etc. He made good suggestions and other things I could do with my new iMac. He's a very nice and likable young man, very courteous and I know I can count on him for future computer needs. He brought back my old hardware and I am keeping it in case I decided to go for the big cost, but I probably have to forget the lost files, my negligence not to back them up before this happened. Now everything goes to iCloud and and external hard drive. Payam connected the external and set it up to backup my iMac regularly. He said he wouldn't pursue the expensive recovery which he could do, unless I couldn't do without the songs and pictures. I guess I can dig out some pictures from old cameras and get mp3's online.
