DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY, DO NOT LET HIM IN YOUR HOME! I posted a job today for a Handyman Service for window tracks I needed fixed and very shortly after I received a phone call from Paul at PJ s Handyman Service asking if he could come out and take a look. I told him sure, come on out, I will be here all day. He arrived within about 20 to 30 minutes after that and went straight to the window and started looking at it and messing with it and made a comment that he could just put a screw in somewhere and it would probably fix it right up. I had to tell him that the track of the window should not show when the window is open, and took him to another window in the house so he could see the proper installation. He then went back to the window and started taking things apart (incorrectly). I asked at that point, how much is this going to cost, because I thought he would come look, give me an estimate, and then I would say whether I wanted him to do the work or not. His response was, "Oh, probably not too much." He carried on taking things apart, removing one of the tracks from the bottom of the open window. When I had to show him where a piece of the track latched into, and then had to tell him he had the track going back in backwards, it became clear at that point that he did not really know how to fix the window. At that point I told him let's just pause everything for the moment because I felt like he did not really know how to fix the window when he was trying to jam the track back into its place and was about to bend the track in the process. I told him I was not trying to offend him (he interrupted he was offended) and I told him that there was a little more at stake here at the moment because this was being fixed after a home inspection and that me fixing it was a contingency on the sale of my home. At that point, he said that he charges a $45 service fee just for coming out, and he would need his money before he left. I told him that he made no mention of any service fee and had not done any fixing at this point so no, I did not think I owed him anything, but I was asking him to leave now. He refused to leave without being paid and so I told him if he did not leave immediately that I would have to call the police. That got him to at least pick up his bucket of tools and walk to the door, but then he stopped at the door and stated, "Where's my money?" I told him to leave or I would call the police, which can be heard on the video footage I provided to Home Advisor from my doorbell camera. At that point, he called me a b**** and walked out, continuing to tell me what a sorry b**** I was as he walked away. Now, he has threatened me with a lien on my property if I do not pay this $45 he has now billed me through the Home Advisor system, stating, "Note: If you do not pay I will file a mechanics lien against your property. You leave me no choice. You cant hire someone and then not pay them." If you are a woman especially, I strongly urge you not to even let this guy "take a look" because he tried to railroad me and very clearly did not know how to fix my window, never told me there was a service fee just for him to come out, and would not tell me how much he wanted to charge even when I asked.
