A terrible experience with P & L Concrete Construction. We wanted a concrete surround remodel of our fireplace. Posted on Thumbtack, an app where contractors can see you expectations and bid on projects. Paul came to our home where again we showed them expectations photos. The company said they have done similar work and it would take 2 days. Flash forward nearly 3 weeks and our fireplace looks like this: cracked throughout the base, uneven lines, edges are curves vs 90 degree angles, color variations, trowel/scratch lines. When we called Paul (and his wife, who helps him run the business), we were screamed at, told we were too picky & told we would not receive the refund we requested. We are now exploring legal means to recover more than $2,200. Thumbtack has viewed the pics (wish we could attach - they are awful) and his unwillingness to refund our money and kicked them off their platform. Thumbtack also told us that the expectation pics are in our profile - the same profile the contractors use to contact possible customers. This is something they continue to deny. We are working to get our money refunded and will most likely end up in small claims court. Very disappointing.

He was continuously giving me a next day to the project.

Paul and his crew built us an awesome concrete patio for a very responsible price! Paul was always just a text message away to respond to all of our questions. He is very dependable and professional. Will hire again and will recommend to our friends and acquaintances.

Paul and his team were great! He gave us a fair bid and explained the work and process in a way I could understand. He showed up on time and answered our questions that came up throughout the process. He is an excellent communicator and was on site for the work. We are so happy with the finished project - replaced walkway and front porch steps, driveway and driveway extension. He cleaned up the work area when the job was done. Our neighbors were impressed and he got a second job because the excellent work he and his team started on our project. Would definitely hire him again.

I would like to give Paul a 10 if I could for the superb work he did on our garage foundation and driveway. The work he did with his other partners was to die for. He designed the driveway and walkway more beautiful than I could have imagined. He and his sons and partners have a passion for their work. My wife is exuberant who is hard to please. I will be using him again in the future. I hired Paul on Thursday and he was out to our house first thing Friday morning. He made sure all of the prep work was ready for when the concrete arrived to be poured today. And it is all finished in a week form when I hired him. There were no cost overruns and his quote was spot on. Have Paul do your concrete work. You won't be sorry. And we are not being paid or discounted for my testimony. This comes from the heart.

They did a good job, soon as I called them thy were ready to start, very communicative, and very professional.

Paul was very professional. Continued to check in with me while I was making my vendor selection. Did a good job on initial inspection. Must wait a year to see if the job holds up to time.

Paul gave me a estimate about 2 years ago. I had a difficult time obtaining a building permit because of a neighbor who refused to provide a temporary easement through his driveway. Paul stuck with me over the two years, and provided any help he could. He just completed the job-and it looks great. The workers are professional. I would highly recommend this company.

These guys did a great job on my concrete work. The communication was the best of any contractor that I have ever hired. Paul is a really nice and hard working man. Concrete work is something that is very hard to fix if it is not done right. I would highly recommend P & L Concrete Construction and they will be doing work for me in the future.

These men were fantastic! I had many bids for this job and they were about in the middle. They take great pride in their work and are a good team. Paul was easy to work with and very efficient about calling me and letting me know if they were going to be late etc.. The driveway looks GREAT!! I recommend them HIGHLY!

I wanted to replace my asphalt driveway and old concrete walkway/stairs. I called three different contractors and selected P&L Concrete Construction. I believe I made the right choice! Owner Paul came to my house to write up an estimate. He was prompt and friendly during his visit. He understood exactly what I wanted done and did not pressure me to hire him. Paul and his workers did excellent work. I was very impressed with their workmanship and attention to detail. They were also friendly, finished the job on time, and cleaned up the premises at the completion of work. I now have a beautiful driveway and walkway thanks to Paul and his crew!

I called Paul to come out and bid a concrete patio and an extension of my front stoop. He came out right away, measured and gave me a bid for the whole project. The project was in a yard accessible by wheelbarrow, so it involved a lot of manual work. The price was roughly the same as I'd gotten elsewhere for the work, maybe a bit higher. Because of the ratings, I opted to add on a stamped finish to the patio and a sloping extension to a step in the front yard. The work was done in November, so I was quoted a winter mix of concrete. Sadly, less than a week after the install, the stamped surface on the patio is flaking off which required removing and replacing the entire slab. I contacted Paul immediately and his suggestion was to wait until warmer weather to do anything to the patio surface. When the weather warmed, he stood behind his work.

Paul and his team were AWESOME! They were in-&-out in ONE DAY! No mess, no complications, no unexpected costs! Paul was up-front, did an amazing job, and did everything with a warm smile! Hire this man!!!!

Very reliable, conscientious and thorough. Willing to extend us a longer guarantee on their work which was important for us. Finished with work on time even though they had to put in late hours to do so.

The job included much more than is shown in any of the selections in the "specific project" list. It involved removal and replacement of a porch floor, steps leading up to the porch, and two walls flanking the steps -- all dating from 1923. The new porch floor and steps are concrete; the walls have concrete cores, faced with brick. The result is a huge improvement over what was there before, and it feels safe. I'm particularly grateful for the excellent customer service. When issues came up, and I expressed concerns, Paul responded quickly and worked until the result matched my expectations. It was great to be able to communicate via email at my convenience and get a quick response. The project was expensive, but I feel the end result is completely worth the cost. I would use the company again.

Paul is wonderful and his crew is pleasant and respectful. Just be very sure that everything you want done is on the estimate/contract, so expectations are clear. Paul responds to calls and emails immediately and is extremely thoughtful of your wishes and concerns. He and his crew will do the little extra things that help make it a nice experience. Some of his sons work for him and are very nice, young men.
