Only reason I gave a 0.5 star for this business is because it does not allow you to do less. I hired them for a bathroom/kitchen remodel. It all started with promises and nothing was fulfilled. At the end of the project which took longer than expected I was left with broken floors on the kitchen and hall ways and chipped areas in the bathroom. The custom cabinets quality is horrible and barely a year after they are peeling and the paint in chipping away. I was charged for every little mistake they made since they did not do the proposal right. Worst part is that some of the work had to be done multiple times to correct errors made from the beginning and at the end of the project they were not fixed. The subcontractors they hired for some of the work were not professional and they did not have any experience. What bothers me the most is that at the beginning they promised so many things and that they were going to be there for us through out the project and at the end they worked against us. They come to your house, sit with you and paint a beautiful canvas when the reality turns out to be a horrible situation. Unfortunately not even a year from the end of the project which started in July 2020 and ended in Sept 2020 I am left with horrible mistakes in my house ( new floors are already broken and chipped/ paint in the bathroom is chipping and the cabinets are all falling apart/ grout between tiles and backsplash is cracking. I now have to replace my floors not even a year after installation. Some of the items are supposed to be covered under the 1 year warranty but when I ask them to come and repair, we are told that is just wear and tear and not covered by the warranty. Wear and tear in less than a year? Wife: I first met Guy when he came to our home to sign the contract. I still remember our first conversation. He sat in my dinning table and told me that his goal was for us to be happy because this was his livelihood and how he fed his family. He told me that if we needed anything to be picked up not to worry to just let them know. And after a few pick ups he made a comment about them becoming a delivery company. We are not the type of people who like to ask for favors but he offered and after that comment my husband never asked him again. To clarify my brothers did not screen you; I do not understand why you would lie about that. The only reason my husband brought up that my brother work in construction, was because you constantly treated us as dumb kids that we did not know better. There were a lot of boundaries crossed and one was respect; at the end of the project I tried to avoid you because when my husband asked a question of something that did not look good; it was a screaming match. I have never seen such poor customer service. The floors were a mistake you made in measuring the space between the refrigerator and island although my husband continuously told you that the refrigerator would not fit and you said this is what you do for a living. You gave my husband $2000 but it was not of kindness but because the last person you brought refused to take the job because the whole floor needed to be replaced and you would loose more. I disagree with my husband agreeing to the $2000 because that would not cover the floors; because part of the mistake was because you did not put concrete in the kitchen that you charged us for and you also charged us for steps that you were going to do which you did not do. I dreaded writing this review because I was scare of you. You passed a week after you turned in the job and stopped in front of our house to talk to a worker which you so kindly asked his boss to fire him.Even now when I see a white truck I check if is you, I do not know the extend of your kindness; if you wanted someone to get fire who knows how you would retaliate against us/ there is nothing worst than feeling unsafe in your own home.
Response from Paragon Builders
"You first wrote a review on 7/28 and I replied. You then deleted the review, my comments and re-posted it on 8/18 w/o my reply. You then deleted it again, re-posted it on 9/14 and added more comments. My reply is still the same: I will respectfully disagree with your review. In the 20 years of my career in construction, I have never had a client who I feel that has stole from me and justified it. Taking one of my Sub's painters and trying to negotiate a cheaper price to paint your exterior is unacceptable. Especially after you asked me to bid it for you. Not only did you hurt me & the sub-contractor, you also hurt the worker. You also hired another crew to paint walls, ceiling and install the floor throughout the rest of your house. On the days they worked, you asked Paragon Builders not to come. We quickly realized they were using some of our materials and tools. You hired Paragon Builders to remodel your kitchen and bathroom. The project included major framing and resizing the space in your bathroom. Considering Covid, it took a bit of time to get the structural detail approved by the city, but we did finish on schedule. There were many underlying issues in your house due to previous faulty work. Regardless, I wanted things to be right and fixed what we could. Prior to installing your kitchen cabinets and your apron sink, I repeatedly asked you to keep the area where the sink is clean. I told you that many time when people do the dishes, especially with an apron sink, have water running down the front of the sink. This water often stays on top of the cabinet's door and often causes paint damage. This was clearly negligence on your part. Regardless, I sent the cabinet maker TWICE to touch up the cabinets for you. The floor you purchased was of very poor quality. I went to six different HD Supply Stores in a 70 mile radius to look for more floor to repair, but it was not available. It was a discontinued, close out item. I did everything to try to fix and repair the floor and you were not happy. In the end, per our signed and written agreement, I wrote you a check in the sum of $2000.00 for the floor so you may have someone else repair it. In the agreement you wrote: "I release Paragon Builders of any remaining obligation or responsibility towards any matters related to the Vinyl Floor." You obviously never repaired it. When you emailed me about the warranty, I told you I would gladly address any issues you have as long as I was able to see it with my own eyes to assess the problem. It is rare when a client has such issues almost a year after completion and I wanted to make sure it does not repeat itself. You refused to have me come in and see it. You asked me to "send the guys" to fix it. I addressed any touch ups and settling issues after the job was completed. In the past, when I sent someone to take care of something, you often tried and had them do things which were not related to our scope of work. You took complete advantage of my kindness. Despite all that, I remained professional and dedicated to completing your project. Looking at the before and after pictures, your kitchen, bathroom and new space look great. I am proud of the service and the work I provide. Integrity and Honesty are my true values which help me grow and maintain a successful business. You hired me after interviewing several contractor and I was also screened by your brother in law who is a contractor. The only reason you wrote this review, a year later, is because I would not succumb to your request. I am still open to come to your house, assess anything I am responsible for and take care of it regardless of the time frame."

Guy and his team came in to remodel our bathroom over the past few months, and did a fantastic job all round. We'll definitely be working with them again on our other projects, and recommending them to friends and neighbors. Our existing bathroom was essentially a complete teardown, so we had sourced three quotes. Paragon came in second place for cost, but I'm absolutely convinced they were the correct choice. During the quoting phase, there was no sales pressure, and it was clear that Guy had an attention for detail and doing things the right way. He pointed out that he would insist on using the best techniques (floating cement over lath for the new shower, all copper plumbing etc.) and not cut corners. During the actual remodel, Guy was available via text and phone, and visited every workday, usually twice a day to check on progress. Guy was also very helpful in managing expectations with our condo's homeowners association and neighbors. I'm the sort of person that tends to ask a lot of questions, and I'm generally interested in the process, and Guy took the time to answer everything I asked. He set up and managed all of the permits and inspections, and was onsite for each of the inspections. Guy's team all have the same work ethic, making sure to do things right the first time. Having had a relatively bad experience during a previous remodel, working with Paragon was a breath of fresh air. Remodeling is never stress free, but I think Paragon is about as close as you're going to get :)

We hired Guy several years ago for our kitchen remodel, so when it came time for a bathroom remodel, we knew who we desired to hire. We would not hire any other contractor, period! Again, we were not disappointed on ANY level!

I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. Guy and his crew were consummate professionals who completed this project to spec. I have a contemporary styled home and needed a storage unit built to match (smooth coat stucco, steel roof, etc.) Guy came out and provided me with a novel design that maximized space and minimized cost. During construction, Guy stopped by daily to monitor the project status. If any questions or concerns came up while he wasn't there, he promptly responded via phone or text within an hour. I would highly recommend Paragon Builders for any project.

Guy Liba at Paragon Builders just completed our master bathroom remodel. This was the second large remodel we used them for. From beginning to end, the project went smoothly and professionally, as we had both expected and hoped for. Not only did Guyâ s team do a professional job on the labor, but Guy helped me with the design. Guy worked with me to figure out the best way to make sure all of the tile styles I had selected at the tile store perfectly coordinated. Not only that, in order to make sure that they would fit together seamlessly, he cut the marble tiles to fit my glass tiles width. The tile work is impeccable. This took a lot of extra effort, but he was willing to go out of the way to make sure it was perfect. He also helped me with dimensions of other parts of the shower. In addition, there was an existing cabinet that he searched for special soft-close hinges, again to make my bathroom the retreat it is. And, as there are always a few tweaks and fixes at the end of a complex project, Guy happily jumped in and took care of everything. This is truly the spa bathroom that I waited years to have. I walk in every morning excited to look at this beautiful room and bathe in my amazing new shower. I donâ t know when weâ ll do another remodel, but most certainly, weâ ll call on Guy when the time comes.

We hired Paragon off this site and was comfortable with Guy right away. His quote was right in the middle of 4 others and within our discussed budget. His workers were on time, polite and cleaned up every day. Guy came by each day to check on the work and was always available via text or email. He remodeled a bathroom after a flood and his timeline was dead on.

Excellent - we could not be more pleased with how the work turned out. Working with Guy and the Paragon team was very easy, and they showed great patience as we figured out some tricky detailing. We selected a unique wrought iron trellis for our wall openings, and the Paragon team helped us figure out how to install these and accomplish the look we were going for. We would wholeheartedly recommend Paragon, and will use them again for our next project.

We rate Paragon Builders 11 on a scale of 10! Last year they added a bathroom to our home in west L.A. The proposal was reasonable and fair, and the workmanship was first-rate in every category. Adding an entire room to the back of our house entailed every aspect of building and they completed it beautifully, skipping no corners. Guy Liba and partner, Haim Gavrieli, were on the job daily, kept us informed of progress, stayed on budget and finished on time. We have an older home and they were also able to help us in other areas that needed work. My husband and I trust them completely and were thrilled to ask them back this year to remodel our kitchen. That remodel is going on now, and we're equally happy with it. Guy has been able to provide money-saving resources for tile, appliances, etc. This company is the best! We recommend them to everyone!!

This is not a recommendation but merely a heads-up regarding our experience with Paragon Builders and its owner. It was a really, really bad fit. I do not think most people would believe the problems we had with Paragon, given the glowing recommendations on this and other sites. But what I would like to do is address anyone reading this and contemplating hiring Paragon: I have gone through a child-birth that was more pleasant than what my husband and I went through with this company. Seriously. Here is a tiny, tiny, TINY list of examples: After questioning an item that was expressly provided for in our contract, Paragons owner hit us with, "I do not care what is in the contract" So be careful what you sign, or do not because evidently, it does not matter; Workers and reps of Paragon often showed up with no advanced warning, no heads-up, phone call, nothing. By the same token, workers who were scheduled to appear often did not. When things go wrong (which is to be expected), you should be prepared to take the blame for everything. Even things with which you are not involved will somehow be your fault. One small example: Sliding kitchen shelves that the owner indicated were standard and were written into the contract were not installed, and that was somehow our fault. If you have dogs, be prepared to double-triple-and quadruple-lock your gates because Paragon will forget that you have dogs and leave gates wide open; At your first meeting, Paragon will assure you that you are its only and most important client, that it works on only one job at a time and that YOU will be the single focus of Paragons energy. Um...no. The kitchen contract was signed 1/18/2018, approximate completion date (per the contract) was March 9, 2018, the workers left MID-MAY. The bathroom shower door was finally installed today, it is a good thing we were home to let the workers in or we would have had to wait another 2-3-4 weeks to get that done. The men working on the guest bath (a tiny, tiny room) arrived between 9:00-9:30 a.m., took an hour for lunch and left at 3:00. That is a 5-hour work day. We will just leave that here. So a rough estimate of a 2+ room job: 7 months. Be prepared. On a positive note, the owner was fairly easy to get ahold of. The questions/issues we had that we felt were important enough to text about were dealt with relatively expeditiously. (i.e., the worker who installed a new washer and dryer forgot to turn the water on to the washer. Both appliances are the size of Buicks, thus too large for us to move, and we figured the washer was a lemon. After a lot of hullabaloos, phone calls to the seller, etc., we called Paragon as a last resort, got a "Oh, yeah, maybe the waters not on" and, after a couple of days, our new washer finally worked. We still can not figure that one out.) There is not room to go into all that went wrong, and we absolutely WILL take the blame for being newbies at this whole remodel thing. Paragon is likely more appropriate for the seasoned customer than inexperienced ones like us. UPDATE: Just learned that Paragon installed our oven incorrectly. The door kept falling off and a KitchenAid repairman confirmed that the installation was faulty. Thanks, again, Paragon.
Response from Paragon Builders
"Regardless of my disagreement with your review, I am sorry for not meeting your expectations. There are many facets to the remodeling process, some are within the control of the General Contractor and some are not. Unfortunately, change orders and changing your mind during a project cause delays. Lack of schedule payments and bouncing a check on me does not help either. You ordering the wrong color or the wrong size of certain items also causes delays. I was very disappointed by your review. It is misrepresenting, contradicting and hurtful. If everything was as bad as you describe, why did you continue to give me more work? After numerous change orders throughout your kitchen remodel project, initiated by your husband, I passed final inspection for your kitchen remodel on May 9, 2018. During the kitchen remodel your husband insisted Paragon will remodel your bathroom once the kitchen is complete. On June 14, 2018 you signed ANOTHER contract to remodel your bathroom. I made sure all items will be at your home prior to start date. I finished your bathroom in three weeks. I take tremendous pride in the business I built. I am involved with every step of each project and make an effort to be at the job site every day, while keeping in constant communication with my clients. It is my livelihood and the way I provide for my family. For you to quote me saying "I don't care what's in the contract." is a blatant lie. I take my honesty and integrity very seriously and I will not allow you to tarnish my reputation. 95% of my communication and dealing was with your husband who befriended me during this project and kept giving me more work. The little communication I had with you, was via email. You were mostly out of town or in your room with the dogs. We barely interacted. Below is the email exchange regarding the "I don't care..." comment. On April 25, 2018 you sent an email asking for the pullout shelves. This was after you signed the layout and after your cabinets were already installed. After a brief exchange I replied: ?Hi Steve, I will always do my best to accommodate and do what I can to make you happy. I enjoy working with you and it is important to me you are satisfied. Regardless of what was said or approved, I will provide you with the pull out shelves. Please, let me know where you would like the pull out shelves to be installed.? Your pullout shelves were installed the following week with no additional charge. I have documents, texts and emails to back everything I say and do. Unfortunately, this platform does not allows me to write in more detail. I provide the same customer service to anyone I work with. This is the reason I have been in this business for more than 20 years. I also learned, I can not satisfy everyone no matter how much effort I put into a project. I am not perfect but I do strive to exceed expectations. I wish I was able to post pictures of before and after to show how nice your project turned out. I provide warranty and take full responsibility beyond the one year required by law for everything I do. Your kitchen was completed and passed inspection in May 9, 2018. You have been using the oven for almost a year now. I generally install appliances for all of my remodels and do not have problems. We merely took your oven out of the box, plugged it in and attached it to the cabinet. I know your cabinet is leveled and I am not sure what we could have done to install it incorrectly. It is a moot point since I was not called in to address your concern prior to calling the repair man. I have good relations with Pacific Sales and could have taken care of whatever was not working. Please make sure to call me first if anything arises, I will take full responsibility for all my work. Thank you"

Guy remodeled my master bathroom seven years ago. When I had water damage he was the first person I called. He worked all the details with the insurance company and helped me with getting the money to pay for the work. Everything went smooth and quick. Guy was very accommodating and responsive. After all these years, the level of service is just as good on a small project as it was on my Master Bathroom.

We honestly could not have asked for a better experience with a contractor. The flow in our house was terrible before the renovation and now it feels like a real house. Guy was incredibly kind, approachable, and honest about our ideas -- what would work, what wouldn't, new suggestions, and whether or not something was worth the money. He dealt with the city, all our permitting and inspections. We were barely home during the process, but felt completely comfortable in his hands. He was available any time day or night via text message if I had any concerns. If he had any hesitations about a decision we made, he would always double check with us to make sure we were all in agreement. We completely trusted him! His crew was incredibly clean and did a great job keeping the dust mitigated and cleaned up everyday inside the house for us. When there were issues (as there is on any job, with any contractor), Guy was not defensive. He addressed them immediately and corrected them promptly. He was great with documentation such as our contract, insurance, change orders, etc. We shopped around and his prices were exactly as they should have been. We would highly recommend him and would definitely use him again on any projects in the future.

Guy from Paragon Builders was simply outstanding, and I highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a contractor. Guy was professional from the very first day, and had a lot of great ideas for our old kitchen. Unlike other contractors who seemed to sell us unnecessary work, Guy actually helped us keep the project within our budget and get more for our money. He provided a detailed plan and cost prior to starting the work, and was available to answer all questions. His crew was just as professional. They worked efficiently, while keeping the work area clean and safe. They actually completed their work earlier than planned, and the project did not go over estimated cost. We are very happy with our new kitchen and have no doubt that we made the right choice with Paragon Builders. We're planning to remodel our master bathroom next, and will definitely use Paragon Builders for the project.

Where do I start. First off I met with a few different contractors and they all had good reviews but something was different when I met Guy from Paragon. He was not a "salesman". He was professional, knowledgeable and I felt like I could trust him. He even came out twice and brought Haim his foreman on the job to verify what would be needed to complete the job and give me an exact price. They took there time to get it right on what the labor and price would be involved. All this without any promise of employment. After meeting Haim who is absolutely terrific and feeling absolutely at ease with them both I was ready to hire them for my project. Everything was going very smoothly and then an issue arrised that had to be taken care of right away.Guy wrote up a change order and it was dealt with quickly and smoothly. At no time did I feel worried (and I am a worry wart). All the work turned out wonderful! Anytime I I need anything done by a contractor I am calling these guys They are absolutely fantastic!

Four years ago my wife and I were expecting our second child. We did not have enough room in the home we purchased but we loved the area. After careful consideration we decided to add more space. Our search was not simple. Finding someone reliable that would do a good job in a timely manner was our top priority. After an extensive interview process of contractors, we came across Paragon Builders, Guy Liba. Guy was very informative and was straight to the point. One of the things I liked best was the no pressure presentation.
