My in-laws had a 30-year-old generator that needed repair, but weren’t able ake it in to a local repair shop. I found Pat’s Repair Service on Home Advisor for them. He offered to pick it up from their home that same day on his way home from another job. After a week of working on it, he honestly assessed that it was beyond repair and wouldn’t charge them anything for his time and effort. Pat was easy to stay-in-touch with, and we are all impressed with his professionalism and character. Would recommend his service to anyone!

He did a good job from what I can tell but the cost of the repairs was too much. He told me after he repaired the generator that it was an older and obsolete generator. Had he told me before he started to repair it, I would have just purchased another new one other then paying $400 for the repairs. He also changed his price. He told me $325 first but then changed it to $475, but after I reminded them that he said $325 he lowered his price down to $400.

Pat came to my house and looked at the generator. Just looked at it. No work and charged me $85.00 for a service call. I delivered the generator to his shop around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. He called me Sunday around 5:00 p.m. and said it was fixed and the bill was $500.00. My fault for not asking him his hourly rate and his fault for not telling me his hourly rate. Had I known he charges $85.00 an hour, I would have gotten additional quotes. I will not use him again or recommend him.

Pat has very nice and stayed in contact with me while he was working on my generator. The reason I did not score him higher is because he told me a price of $130 for a new carburetor plus $40 for a trip charge. When he brought the generator back, the bill was $275. He said the carburetor cost more then he expected and he charged a trip charge to pick up the generator and to bring it back. His estimates need to be in writing and stick to them.

Pat was extremely nice , I felt comfortable with him around the house.. My, fault I should have asked about the service trip charge. He was based in Cleveland, a ways away from me.
