I believe that Perry Pools & Spa substantially misrepresented their ability and demonstrated time and again a lack of professionalism. I signed a contract in February to have a granite pool deck installed as well as new pipes and pool filter. As part of the bidding process the owner told me that I needed 1000 Sq feet of granite. I asked the owner to reconfirm his estimate as 2 other contractors who had bid on the project said I needed more than the 1000 feet. He came out, re-measured and told me that his estimate was accurate. Half way thru the job I was told that the estimate was not correct and that I needed to order an additional 675 Sq feet - an additional cost of $4,478.58. I was not a happy guy and when talking to the owner he suggested that there would be additional costs for labor to install the additional granite. I asked him to pack up and leave my property. He backed down and I allowed him to continue the job. When a large rock was found and a jack hammer was needed to break it up I asked for an cost estimate. I received none. After the compressor and jack hammer were on site I was told that the cost would be an additional $1200 for 1 day. I did some homework, found out what the cost of a compressor and jack hammer rental for one day was and then factored in labor costs and informed PP&S that this was the amount I was willing to pay. If that was not acceptable please pack up and leave my property (they had been arrogant in several conversations and I was reaching my limit). They agreed. As they were completing the job they used a back hoe which completely trashed the grass in the back yard (19 feet by 12 feet). The owner said they were not responsible and informed me that his wife is an attorney and she would defend a suit if one was initiated (I hadn't planned on one). It cost me approx. $650.00 to bring in a landscaper to lay in sod. Finally, when we signed the contract we were told that the job would take 3 to 4 weeks to complete. It took 9 weeks. The lack of ability to estimate the sq footage correctly for the granite, lack of project management skills, a demonstrated lack of regard for the customer moves me to state that based on my experience I would not recommend this service to friends. Based on my experience with many other contractors in the course of owning our home I would say that the Perry Pools & Spa is an amateur organization that seeks to cover it's mistakes by being nasty and arrogant. The owner needs to learn some people skills.
Response from Company:
Perry Pools did not sign a contract in February to do any work for a customer in Stamford. I have not worked with any granite stone thus far in 2015, and I certainly was not asked to leave any customers property in recent memory, not sure what ax to grind this person has, or if perhaps they have the wrong company, but I would ask you either produce a copy of the contract you allege in this review, or remove it from this website and face legal action.

I was quoted $600 to test the integrity of an old pool and billed for over $2,000. They serviced this pool 2-3 times per week while the home was vacant. Maybe they had an internal miscommunication but when I saw the bill and called they became very aggressive and threatening. And I still don't know if the pool holds water! I advise you find someone else.

The technician called prior to coming and arrived within the agreed upon day/time window. Service was performed expertly and in good order. He also alerted me to an additional problem that I was able to correct myself.
