My elderly mother hired Shaun Roberts to replace wood on her deck, power wash, re-stain. He told her it would be a 3 day job and began the work in September, 2020. She paid him in 3 installments, a total of $6,600 to date. He has never worked a full day there, maybe 3 or 4 hours tops, then not shown up again for days or weeks. The job remains undone 7 months later. The debris from the removal and scrap wood was never picked up, so it has been there for 7 months. My mother has called him numerous times. We have notified Home Advisor about his inability to return calls, complete the job, and remove the debris from her yard. This has been an ordeal, and we will most likely pursue legal action now. To be fair, the work he did complete was well done, and we are not sure why he refuses to finish the job or communicate. My mother has been very patient with his excuses, as he has 4 small children and life is difficult during Covid times. I must also note that my dad passed away on Thanksgiving and Shaun Roberts was given some tools that belonged to my dad he asked my mother about. He wanted more, but my brother put a stop to that. We would NOT recommend Shaun Roberts to anyone based on our experience.

We hired Shaun in early April to do minor repairs on our porch. We paid Shaun $1,500 for the initial deposit he required to start the work. The project was expected to take 5 days. Shaun completed 3 hours of work on the first day and never returned. Two months ago, Shaun agreed to return our deposit less an agreed-upon amount for the three hours of work completed. We are still owed more than $950 and have not heard from him in over a month.

While understanding the customer's frustration over a project that unfortunately began the day before the governor of NJ ordered all nonessential businesses to close due to the Coronavirus. There is a considerable amount of detail left out of the review. Such as, how we have communicated with this customer on multiple occasions about the timelines and hardships that we have had and are still facing with the multiple different aspects of funding business operations during these trying times in order for her to receive her full refund as anticipated.
