Phoenix Group Contractors LLC is a Florida construction firm dedicated to providing the highest quality end product at a competitive price. We specialize in residential remodeling, residential new construction, and light commercial. David Smith has spent 22 years in the construction industry as a subcontractor, general contractor, and attorney focusing on construction law. He has completed numerous large-scale subcontracting projects for regional developers, and extensive residential projects from new homes to full remodels. Commercial projects have included tenant fit outs at shopping malls, and renovations of existing commercial spaces.

Bathroom Remodel
Had to keep after them to come work on the bathroom. They were busy working elsewhere they said. Poor workmanship. Workers could not speak English. Had to redo things a couple times at least. Did not really know what they were doing. Would not refer them to any one I knew.

Gustavo Romero was my contractor for the repair of my home in Saint Pete Beach, FL. You probably remember we had back to back storms, Helene 9/26/24 and Milton 10/9/24. I have lived in my house for 28 years--never had water/flooding. Helene brought 3 ft of surge from the intracoastal into my house.
Gustavo Romero was one of the 3 contractors I interviewed for the daunting task of making my house a home again. I am so happy that I chose him. He and his crew did a fabulous job.
The 1st hurdle was getting the permit from the City. Gustavo went with me to the city to make sure we were doing everything they required for permit to be granted. Then he went again alone the same day and walked out of city hall with my permit in hand! No small feat. I have some neighbors/friends that still don't have theirs.
After getting the permit, the work went quickly and efficiently, and beautifully thanks to Gustavo and his team. He has my respect and recommendation.

Phoenix group contractors remodeled our Florida condo while we were in Boston . Gustavo would FaceTime us every day throughout the process . He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the project . He finished earlier than we expected and we are very happy with the final result .

They did not finish their work I asked him to return and finish and he ignored me and I have not heard from him since this is almost a year ago now I would not use them again and not recommended to anyone else use them. Actually I think I overpaid him. And of story I am over it

We do remember this project, and the reason we declined to address the electrical outlet was out of serious concern for your safety. Given that the home had previously suffered an electrical fire, we felt strongly that any electrical work needed to be handled by a licensed electrician who could properly assess the wiring and ensure there were no underlying hazards. Taking on that work ourselves could have put you and your home at risk, and that was something we were not willing to do. We understand this may have been frustrating, and we are truly sorry if our reasoning wasn't communicated as clearly as it should have been. Your safety has always been and will always be our number one priority at Phoenix Group Contractors. We hope you'll consider reaching out to us at so we can address any remaining concerns."

Stay away from this Contractor. Gustavo is rude, dishonest and pushy. We had four revision of the contract, due to lack of details, and clarity. He wants your money and will say anything to get it. Before work was complete received multiple phones calls demanding payment. Bad pictures and videos concealing sloppy work. I traveled 5 hours from 351 miles one way every weekend for 2.5 months months and counting. My wife, kids and88 yr., old parent are exhausted.All the cost of travel and hotel rooms to find incomplete sloppy work and not close to what was promised in the contract. A lot of apologies and redirecting me to other mistakes made such as extra large cabinets I did not want. Hole in the ceiling for recess lights I did not ask for. Poor unprofessional service. I?m full of regrets and short $33K.

The whole experience was amazing. I had originally hired another company that worked 2 month, never finishing. I called and spoke with the owner, Gustavo, and he came the next day and looked at what was needed. He worked out a schedule and had the whole thing done in 2 days! The man he sent to do the job, Ramona, was absolutely great! His attitude was amazing, he was on time, and his work ethic was excellent. I would highly recommend this company, and will hire them again if ever needed!

They may be good for small projects but not for larger remodels/ make overs. I hired them to redo 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Work was not professional as it should have been. I hired my own people to fix their mistakes

Had a jungle of a backyard and they removed many huge overgrown trees and a couple of giant palms. Trimmed up 20 some palms that looked like they had not been trimmed in at least 20 years. They were a Very hard working crew. Finished in less than two days and cleaned everything up.

This company is the best in the area! The contractor is so easy to work with and immediately responds to any questions. He is willing to work with the customer to find what works for them. I couldnâ t be happier with the results. The paint job is incredible! The company did so much more than just painting the house too. His crew also replaced our fascia and soffits, among a few other side jobs. A very flexible company with a lot of patience for unexpected events and issues. I never felt like I was being pressured or hustled. A very honest and trustworthy company. We will absolutely be hiring this company again in the future.

It was much more than just painting. Gustavo & his crew totally rehabbed the entire exterior and then painted everything w/the colors I chose. They worked relentlessly. They asked my OK at every new endeavor. They were in the details. These are fine craftsmen (plus a craftswoman who did the pressure washing). This was a monumental restoration of a 1950s-era vacation house in Florida. They literally returned the house to its original glory. The mailman said today that it looks brand new. Neighbors have commented on the awesome makeover. We heartily recommend Phoenix. They uncovered & replaced every rotted piece of wood (70+ years of storms & Florida hurricanes), every fixture, every detail. It was more than we had hoped for, at an affordable rate. We went with Gustavo & Company because they were the highest rated on Home Advisor. When we told him that, he was very modest. Phoenix people are highly skilled, hardworking, polite, & meticulous in cleaning up. The house is now a tropical confection of Sherwin Williams pale pink (Young at Heart), Macadamia for the under-trim, and brightest white for horizontal & other trim. They even treated the rusty door gates & painted them white. No request of ours was overlooked. They cheerfully went back over any & every detail, because a 70+ year old house has a lot of detailed exterior problems. If you're looking for a general contractor who can handle anything, Phoenix is your best bet. And for carpentry & painting, they really know what they're doing. We were so fortunate to have Phoenix with Gustavo & his awesome crew.
