Ed did the brown-in insulation, a chimney liner repair and a roof for me! He repaired the chimney liner sufficiently but ended up installing two flue caps as opposed to the single two-stack cap he'd shown me picutres of, without verifying this change. He blew out two sections of dry wall inside the house while blowing in the insulation, but my greatest concern was his quality of work and lack of professionalism on the roofing job! Ed presents himself as knowledgable, integrous and collaborative, but the quality of work on the roofing edges, rolled roofing section, drip edge and rotten wood repairs was less then desirable! Worse of all I paid him $420 for garbage removal and he never called to have the dumpster bags removed, having lied to me about calling! For two weeks he has not responded to any of my communication attempts! I should not have paid him until the garbage was removed but I took him at his word that the dumpster bags would be picked up within 3 days of the job's completion. Three weeks later and I still have the roofing trash on my lawn! I had seen some other negative reviews about Ed's lack of responsiveness and follow-up to customer concerns. I should have trusted those reviews over my positive first impressions!

My entire experience from start to finish with Pillar was excellent. Scheduling became an issue due to Hurricane Sandy but Ed kept in constant contact with me and the job was completed without any issues. I intend on contacting them in the future for any job I can't complete myself, I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for home improvement assistance.

Finding a contractor is always a challenge. Finding a good one is even harder. I hired Pillar Home and Business to resolve some attic insulation and ventilation issues we have had in our house. Ed works on our house as if it was his own. From laying down the proper plastic to protect our furniture, to cleanup, and the high quality of workmanship. I can't express enough how happy I am with this company and crew. I have already referred them to family members and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again in a second. I was very pleased! They showed up when they said they would, called when they said they would, which is a huge thing in this type of business. The work they did was done very well. Not only was the work done well but they also cleaned up. You wouldn't even have known that work was done at the end of the day! Ed was very quick to respond - after I entered my search on this website, got my results, 15 seconds later Ed was calling me top set up an appointment for estimate (now that is service!)!. He was here the next day for the estimate; I opted to go ahead and he was able to do our project right away. He was punctual, pleasant to deal with and fair. I will definitely be using Ed again for many projects around our house.

Ed did a beautiful job replacing the fascia board on the back of my home. He was very reasonably priced - less than half of what other companies in the area wanted to charge. He was on time and meticulous about the work area. I can't say enough about him! I will definitely have Ed back to do additional work around my home.

The job changed from when he priced it to when he started as there were some large air ducts installed before the insulation was blown. Ed did a great job and kept the same price even though there was additional work covering the new ducts. He was clean and easy to work with. He had an issue at his shop so he needed to reschedule but he offered many options for rescheduling it was not a problem. I worked with him via email almost exclusively and his replies were prompt.
