"Don't know why someone waits 2 weeks to contact and complain - I was willing to fix the issue provided the additional materials were covered plus the costs of reinstalling a toilet. I felt that was fair considering how long it was before I was notified of a problem that wasn't there when I left and the fact that there were 2 other sets of contractors in the SAME area of the bathroom in between the time I finished and the time I was called. I will not be setting foot back into his home because I believe that he would refuse to pay me when finished. Mr. Tom C. lies - if you are another contractor - avoid this one as it will not go well for you!"
"I was never given a balcony drawing or saw a design for one - so I guess the moral of the story is - I have learned to get everything in writing and you can not please everyone."
"When initially putting up the patio covering, I warned about the pitch not being steep enough. I installed the roof to code and did all of the proper things. The city was fine with it and it passed inspection with flying colors. Now the customer has been wanting to come back and do more work to the cover and I stated that I was extremely busy right now and didn't realize that she was expecting the additional work to be done at my own expense - especially after completing the project to code and fulfilling my end of the contract. I will not be intimidated or bullied into doing additional work for no pay. I had suggested that a bead of caulk might solve the problem (at the lower end of the slope furthest away from the house - at the house everything is caulked as it should be), but the real issue is the lack of slope which was discussed before the project was started."
"Original job was to replace neo-angle shower with a new set of walls and doors, nothing more, nothing less. When I ordered the new doors, Mrs. R.[Consumer name withheld at their request] insisted on using the same base for the new unit. After the new unit arrived (because the size needed to be special ordered, it did not fit.) This was after waiting a few weeks for it to come in and then waiting another couple weeks because the new unit had a part that was broken and they were sending me a new part. What I found out from the manufacturer is that if you want the doors of a neo-angle unit to fit properly, you need to also install the new base that was designed to fit it. Just because the base measures the same in certain directions, isn't a guarantee that it will fit. I explained this to Mrs. R.[Consumer name withheld at their request] and told her that the original box was no longer around due to the length of time that had passed and that it wasn't that I ordered the wrong size, it was that the base she had was not compatible with the doors that I found. While I had the walls off, I replaced ALL of the moldy drywall that was behind the old walls. I did not ask for, nor was I compensated for that although in my original estimate, it stated that if there was additional work due to the unknown, that the bill would be adjusted accordingly. I did leave minimal sanding of drywall above the shower walls, and I did remove and install another toilet in the same bathroom. At this point, I thought it best to just stop and not work on the other bathroom that she was wanting work in that was NOT on the original estimate, since I had already done more work than the estimate and not do any more projects for Mrs. R.[Consumer name withheld at their request]. I have always made it clear that payment is due on completion of a project and Mrs. R.[Consumer name withheld at their request] decided on her own that it didn't apply to her. She wrote me a check for less than half of the work I did and to this date I still have NOT received the rest of payment. I will not be installing any neo-angle showers unless it is a complete package, walls, doors, and floor. As for turning evil, I stayed quiet and finished the job without any further conversation. No harsh words were said, I just stated that I was frustrated - so if that is turning evil, I must be guilty."
"I had explained when I gave the estimate that it was because of dealing with a hazardous material and if she wasn't happy she could have someone else do the job. she called me 3 weeks later to do the job and then started complaining about the price I had quoted after I had stopped and purchased the materials and was already on site to do the job. I will not do a job for someone who is already complaining. so I said you can find someone else to do it and I left."
