Reviews
Write a ReviewVery professional experience and clean up but did leave some material on the porch that was to heavy for me to remove but I did text them to have it removed
Took care to explain the problems we were having with our balcony roof and how they would address them. Was able to schedule our project quickly. Crew did a great job.
Very helpful in assessing issues
Great liason between insurance and contractor. They explained everything which really relieved alot of anxiety for this control freak that was totally out of her element.
Clem is great! Thank you for fixing my carport and front porch posts!
BACKGROUND (Personal Experience): I reside 435 miles away from the property. I hired Placke Roofing and Construction LLC, (Placke) for preventive maintenance (coat roof). I selected Placke, because: HomeAdvisor trusted pro; veteran owned/operated; online rave reviews/ratings; middle bid; credentials; and 3-yr warranty. Pre-hiring, Placke responded promptly, via email and phone. May 28, 2019, Placke emailed me misleading â after photos and invoice, which noted a 3-year warranty. Placke instructed me to pay via credit card, online. In good faith, I immediately submitted full payment. PROBLEMS: I may have been scammed. Problems soon arose and Placke seemed to â disappear after receiving payment. June 2, 2019, I was informed Placke had: (1) poured tar in the backyard. (I paid a contractor to remove tar and treat damaged spot); and (2) disconnected wires from the roof (without my permission). Placke left the wires attached to an exterior wall and strewn in the yard. The â after photos did not depict these problems. I contacted Placke, who made false promises to reimburse me for the tar cleanup/damage and remove wires. December 31, 2019, I notified Placke about the interior leak(s) and extensive damage. I also attempted to contact Placke in 2020. ACTIONS to RESOLVE COMPLAINTS: For over a year, I chased Placke to correct the problems. I used contact information provided by Placke during pre-hiring and payment. I also used other contact information (I discovered Placke had multiple, active phone numbers and emails in cyberspace); Placke answered one of the numbers once, but quickly rushed off the phone. I have 35+ pages of relevant documentation (bid, invoice, receipts, photos, emails, phone calls, and text logs, letters with postal tracking). RESULTS PLACKE: Ignored/failed to respond to my complaints. Failed to respond to calls/emails/letters. Failed to provide reimbursement for tar cleanup/damage. Failed to remove wires. Failed to honor leak warranty. Placke has cost me thousands of dollars. I have suffered financial hardship. The unit is uninhabitable. I am forced to hire other contractors to repair extensive property damage to the roof, walls, and ceiling. At this time, I do not have the funds to repair the damage.
Sorry, you feel this way. After reviewing all the photos from the job, I concluded this: The grass in the rear backyard was greater than 16" high and appears to not have been cut in quite some time, there was 1 singular 3" tar spot on the tall grass (easily removed when grass would have been eventually cut). Wires were never removed and had previously been hanging from the left side of the building as you view the property from the rear. The rear elevation of the property had not been properly maintained. Our job was to coat the roof with a sealer, to which we did. It was not our responsibility to cut the grass or remove abandoned wires on the back of the building. We did not force you to do anything, you had been given multiple options of how to fix the roof, the sealer was the least expensive option and was also the least likely to last very long. The problems with this roof far exceed our ever getting involved. It will not be made our responsibility to tend to a neglected property. We are not insured to remove wiring or to perform lawn care that should have been done by others from the beginning, therefore we would not compensate you for this or perform this work. I appreciate the attempted assault on our great reputation in this market. We find that most buildings with out of state owners tend to get neglected more than in-state owners, this was the case here. City records also show the property had been cited for the grass length and debris in rear parking spaces.
I was having some shingles replaced and before I even agreed to use Placke Roofing they covered the damaged area so that there would be no further water damage to the roof. They were very professional and did a great job. I can't even tell were the damage was before the repair.
Clem Placke was very helpful in getting my whole roof replaced when the insurance company only wanted to pay for a partial replacement. Very good customer service.
Professional and dependable
Clem was very professional and was able to complete this job very quickly. This was for a rental property that had a leaking roof from some rains. Clem gave his professional opinion on what work should be done. Others said that the whole roof needed to be replaced, but Clem suggested that the roof should be layered. This made it more cost effective. He added boots and protection to vents as well as replacing my vents. Since I'm out of state, he even went above and beyond by taking before and after pictures and video calling at the property.
