Plateau Painting and Remodeling

During initial demolition the opened op one of the pipes. I came home to a flood in my foyer area. The ceilings in my foyer area were water damaged the wall paper had brown stains and was coming off the walls and some of the paint was peeling of my wood trim. The flood went into my basement where it damged my polomix finished walls. I was told by Mike Mahoney the owner that everthing would be restored to it's original condition and it was not done to my satisfaction. The tile in the batroom has grout all over the place which is hard to remove. The painting work is very sloppy, and the joints in the wallcovering to not align. He owns installing 2 towel bars which he never put in for us. he damaged the bathromm door frame on the corridor side and has not fixed it. My corridor hardwood floors have been damaged as well from not protecting them. 2 weeks after the job was completed I noticed some water damage in the foyer area. I called him to come back and look and he told me that the damage had come from inproper installation of the ceramic tile in the tub area. He told me that he would fix everthing. He fixed it half ass. The ceilings in the foyer still have water damage, the wall paper is coming of the walls and the walls in my basement are still not fixed. As of right now he will not return any of my phone calls. I want him to come back and fix everything. I let alot of the initial damage go because my brother is a union painter and he said he would help me fix some of the items. Currently I am getting some legal counsell and may be suing Plateau Painting. We hired Plateau Painting and have paid them 2/3 of the total cost. However, they only powerwashed and sanded and put on some primer, and they have disappeared. For over three weeks they do not answer the phone, reply to voicemail, or answer our e-mails. They have left our house in a terrible shape, and we have received only destruction of the exterior in return for our payments. PLEASE HELP US!!!! I chose this contractor due to the ratings on this site and I am extremely disappointed. I am still waiting for the job to be completed and it has been six weeks since I last heard from Mike, the owner. I still have new trim that is bare wood and basement windows that haven't been painted. In addition the spray painting job was done with very little regard for my new Pella windows, deck and doors. The overspray looks tacky and unprofessional. There was more regard for doing the job fast then doing the job well. As for cleanliness; my lawn was ruined in numerous areas by spilt paint, empty bottles and spare trim were strewn on my property and on the last day the crew showed up, my water was left on after they cleaned their brushes. This emptied my well, which took a few hours to replenish. I will never use Plateau for any work again. My bank called me 20 minutes after our check was given to Mike. They wanted to make sure we wrote him the check. A professional company with capital doesn't need the owner to cash checks. I believe Mike was afraid the check would be cancelled after we saw the quality of his work.

Mike and his crew began my job ahead of schedule which worked out for me personally. Mike did everything that he said he was going to do and more. He was very patient and answered my 1001 questions. I am impressed with his work ethics and I am ready to hire him and his crew for some interior painting and remodeling.

Michael Mahoney did come to my house to evaluate the job, and, provided me with a written estimate. Unfortunately, I had to postpone doing the job due to unforseen circumstances. Michael was very professional. He was on time for our appointment, went over the details of the job, and, provided me with a written estimate. I would certainly consider Michael for future work. My apologies for the cancellation of the job. As I said once before, I find ServiceMagic a real asset in finding competent contractors. I did not get to talk to the other two contractors.

My review of Plateau Painting�-�Michael�Mahoney and crew: After reading this you'll probably think I'm an old friend of Mike's, trying to pump up his business, but I will tell you that I never met him or any of his crew until they did their work on my new (and first) home. These guys offered an extremely competitive price and followed up with fantastic results and incredible service. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. As I said above, this is my first home and I don't have any experience hiring contractors for home improvement. I was pleasantly suprised to see how high the priority of customer satisfaction was in the work ethic of Michael and his crew. I say I'm suprised because I don't see that same measure of concern for the customer in many other service industries I've dealt with in my personal and professional life. These guys packed in as much work as they could within the budget I had and the time they had allotted for the job (adding extras like installing base board/moulding for my kitchen at no extra cost- no nickel and diming the customer). They even went out of their way to offer advice and suggestions about improvements to my home that were not related to the job they were doing (and they weren't trying to bid on this stuff, either). What really sums it up is that near the end of the job, I was asked several times by both Michael and his crew if I was "absolutely sure" that everything was satisfactory. They offered to come back if I found anything that was faulty with the job. You don't get that service anywhere else. I practically had to kick them out! In an business that goes by word of mouth, these guys get the work because they get good words passed around about their excellent skills and service. If I have people coming into my home to do work, I want them to have a good attitude, be easy to work with and be professional. Mike, Jason and Ed provided all that and we had some laughs to boot!

Michael Mahoney, the head of Plateau Painting, provided us with a first class painting job and a first class value. Plateau began the job on the day they promised and stayed with it every day until completion. Even when we ran into our own delays in finally choosing from the computer palatte that Plateau provided, Michael was very helpful in making suggestions, showing samples and test areas, etc. Michael also was willing to provide some of the little extras that while they may not have strictly been in the contract but which made the difference in a run of the mill paint job and a great one. At the end of the job, the house and yard area were cleaned up thoroughly. In summary, we are very pleased with the job that Plateau painting did for us and would gladly recommend their services to anyone.

Michael Mahoney and his crew have been awesome! The level of professionalism has been high, the budget was incredibly competitive, and it's been just great on a day-to-day basis working with Michael. The quality has been first-rate (we chose them because they have had experience painting aluminum-siding), and we would definitely recommend (and hire!) them again. Absolutely no complaints.
