Brick or Stone Tuck pointing
The ONLY issue I had with this company is that I had to call them back to replace the items they had moved to do the work. Even then I later discovered items they'd moved, but not replaced.

It is the companies policy that the customer is responsible for moving their personal items out of work areas as well as returning them if they so desire. Anything left in a work area the day of the job beginning will be moved by employees and returned at an additional charge."

We were blown away by the quality of the work. Patched in some old doors that went to nowhere on the second floor using some spare brick. It s very hard to tell where the doors were even though we own the place! They also went ahead and did some other brick repairs on the back of the house at no cost since they were already set up. Very professional and informative. Would use again for our next project.

My family and I have lived in Grosse Pointe for a few years now. We were looking to get our front porch and steps redone. This is one of the most frustrating, unprofessional experiences I have ever had. I rarely write reviews about companies, but I want to look out and protect anyone out there from hiring THIS company. Don is extremely unprofessional. Very flakey. He would rarely pick up the phone when we tried calling. We even put a large deposit down. After multiple delays, he then went AWOL and decided not to show up at all to do the job he was under a written contract for. He ended up pocketing our $1,400 deposit. We then had to file a claim through the Grosse Pointe police department as he had breached a contract and took money without performing any work. This is not the way I would conduct business at all. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. If you live in the Grosse Pointe area or anywhere in the Metro Detroit area... BEWARE and DO NOT HIRE DON OR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH HIS *COMPANY* POINTE MASONRY AND DESIGN. Don is a dishonest human being. This makes me terribly sad that I have to write a review like this one, but I just want to spread the word, so nobody else is taken advantage of by Don and his unprofessional business Pointe Masonry and Design.

"Unfortunately this young couple cancelled the work scheduled to begin at there home three days prior, after being confirmed weeks prior. Although there deposit was returned it was not something I was intending to do. Deposits are made for multiple reasons. Administrative cost, material sourcing and ordering, as well as multiple other reasons including good faith. Unfortunately this young couple responded the only way they know how, which is to slander and defame, along with sending threatening emails and phone msgs. I have been a proper business owner for decades with a great reputation. I will continue to provide professional services and quality work to the community of grosse pointe. Don was professional and honest and competitive in price. The workmanship itself looked good. But there was one issue. Maybe I should have noticed it early on and said something, but as a professional he should have taken care of it automatically. The work was repair on my porch where portions of brickwork had to be redone. While the final job was smooth and professional looking the repaired areas stuck out like a sore thumb. That's when I realized why. The original house's brickwork used rose colored mortar while Don used undyed gray mortar. This error can not be undone and detracts from the final results.

I have a shingle-covered brick/cement back porch with pillars. Don came out to provide a quote on my back porch while I was unavailable. I called him and asked him to come back so I could ask questions and see that we were on the same page with the task at hand. I had Don do the work, he was polite, professional and even did a bit more work than what had been on my quote. The job was done in one day, the quote was cost-friendly and my porch looks spectacular!

We are currently waiting on the contractor who previously completed the tuck-pointing on our home (court order) to fix the poor job that was completed. We were very pleased with Pointe Masonry's professionalism and follow up. Although the quote was higher than others, we will be hiring Pointe Masonry to do this job once our case is settled.

Don is both an artist and a gentleman. I had been treated shabbily by two stone people before I found Don, with your help. His patience, honesty, and wise direction were truly amazing to me, especially after my prior dismal experiences. It's such a blessing to find integrity and kindness in this world! Oh, and by the way -- my porch looks fabulous. In fact, thanks to Don's creative problem-solving, it looks better than ever before. I was looking for repair, and it looks like a specially designed enhancement!
