Overcharged me by the thousands on falsely added invoices and refuse to return the money. Have still not received breakdowns of Jim and Loris hours, which, I believe were doubled or tripled to those actually worked. I paid an exorbitant amount of money for work that was done. Beware!

Originally needed electrical work done to run 2 external outlets and run new power line for a smart doorbell. Several other contractors I had out did not want to wire the doorbell because they thought it would be too hard as it had not been pre-wired during construction. This did not seem to be a problem for Jim, as he found a great solution to wire it properly AND make it look great (can't even see the wire). While they were here, they also noticed that when the previous owners finished the basement, they did alot of wiring not up to code. No external grounding rods, no junction boxes, running hot load through the ground wire, etc. Jim was very honest about his concerns with this, suggested a solution, and offered a very fair price. The final result looks amazing all around as they are perfectionists. It was done very fast and professionally, and I am very happy with the quality of work. It is also worth mentioning that the transformer for the doorbell went bad shortly after they finished the job and had left. I contacted Jim that evening, and he was out the next day to fix it, and make sure all was right. I've never had a response that quick with any contractor I have worked with. Thanks! Super happy.

Electric Furnace or Forced Air Heating System Repair Service
Really happy we found Polar Air to fix our HVAC system! Jim & Lori were professional, personable, honest and genuinely care about their quality of work. We own a design-build studio in Columbus and have worked with many subs over the years... these two are some of the best. They left their work area neat and tidy throughout the duration of the job, which we really appreciated. We look forward to working with them again on future projects.

Way overpriced for what was done and no estimate was ever given before work was started. Just gave me an invoice when work was completed, and the amount that I was charged was over $105 more than what the invoice said.

Wood Stairs and Railings - Install or Replace
First, let me start off with the good. They seemed very nice. They seemed very professional. They seemed to know what they were talking about. Being that we are not contractors and had never moved the location of stairs we decided to hire a professional. They came in. We told them what we wanted. *Sure, no problem.* He gave us suggestions, we listened, we agreed. We thought he knew what he was doing. He stated *He is not happy if we are not happy.* When the project was completed, we were not 100% sure about if we liked the stair. They were VERY steep and almost like a ladder. He said, *Try them out for a few days. I will come back Saturday and we can make any adjustments.* Again he sated he would not be happy if we are not happy. He must be miserable, because WE ARE NOT HAPPY! My husband texted him and when Jim called back we let him know we were not pleased with the stairs. I had tripped going up the stairs several times because the height of each step was not the same. Going down you had to hold on because you could not fit even half of your foot on the step unless you walked down sideways because they were so small. My dog would not go up or down the stairs, that is how steep they were. He said he would be out that afternoon to fix them and my husband even offered to help. Never showed and we have not heard from him since. The bottom line . . . His stairs were not up to code and they were UNSAFE. We were open to ideas and suggestions. We expected it because he was supposed to be a professional. Never did he say this was not a good idea. He never kept up his end of the deal to come back and make it right. Our mistake was to pay him and trust he would come back to fix it.

"First of all, the stairs had been changed twice at no charge against my recommendation. They insisted on the stairs being on a platform thus making the distance I had to work with less than I liked. They were told and insisted that's the way they wanted them to be built. so that's what I did,3 days later after they signed my invoice, and paid me, they wanted me to completely rip them out and start over. They had a different idea again, they did offer his help. But they expected me to eat the cost of material used that was ripped out, and pay for all new materials and do the stairs all over again. If I did this with everyone I would go out of."

Central A/C - Install
Jim Lucas and his company, Polar Air, are the most unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, untruthful, and threatening persons you could ever run across. What a sickening experience it was dealing with him not showing up twice for appointments without so much as a phone call. To be yelled at over the phone saying he owed me nothing after being paid for work he never completed on two separate occasions. Then being screamed at by him in my place of business while he charged at me holding a crescent wrench and a screwdriver. I told him I was a 65-year cancer survivor and ask him what was he going to do? ( all recorded on video and audio surveillance and reported to the police), after he said he was walking off the job. At the end of the day all because he had wired the new circuit board incorrectly. After taking out and eliminating the safety cut off switch, replacing the blower fan and bracket (all things I did not need done). Then trying to charge me for an extra $50.00 above the agreed-upon $100.00 for the blower fan replacement I did not need. I paid for all the equipment and parts and I paid him $2,500.00 in labor and the system was still undercharged with freon. I had to have someone else finish the job. Only to find that Jim Lucas overcharged the system with freon, that he said it did not come with freon, but it did and damaged the compressor. Now I have to get a whole new unit. It is under warranty, I think, but I will have to pay some else to do the removal and install a new unit. Do not believe a word this guy says. Read his 1-star reviews. That will give you more accurate insight into Jim Lucas and Polar Air. Consumer Beware!

"First of all,if you were threatened as you say you were...I would be in jail. Now this review comes after you were sent a bill for the service ,and months after we were there. We also had an employee that was witness to your behavior and refusing to pay your bill. I should have filed a report on you for theft of services. You still haven't paid your bill in full,and we have recorded prof that both systems we worked on are running perfectly!!! You order your own equipment and you want to falsely accused me because you had to retrofit your system because you ordered the wrong parts. Shower Install or Replace
they were very easy to talk to, they were honest about the work they were doing, i have an old house , they pointed out things that others would not have. the person that installed the old shower need to be slapped, what Jim found when he took out the old shower, others would have installed the new shower over top of the mess in the wall not Jim so i am greatfull.

Jim and Lori were great. I had an emergency situation and they were the only guys willing to come out when I needed the help. Great to talk to, very knowledgeable, explained everything, made recommendations, and ultimately probably saved me a couple thousand dollars whereas other companies may have had me replace my entire electric panel. I d not hesitate to hire them again or recommend to anyone. Thanks again!

Bath Exhaust Fan - Install
Jim & Lori's work was excellent! They are perfectionists and go beyond what was required when I first hired them. When remodeling, one sometimes uncovers problems behind walls that are unexpected. While finding a short in shower light, they also uncovered a serrious wire problem that could have led to a fire. Checking the wire problem led to a humongous wasp nest & water problem! Everything was taken care of to my satisfaction with new drywall, caulking, & a beautiful paint job of my whole bathroom. Plus a vent fan in the shower & new stipling on the ceiling. They can do anything! Very professional, friendly, informative on what they found & how they would resolve the problem. I am so happy with their work! I will definitely call on them again!

Hired them for previous plumbing water line and happy with his work. Than hired Jim Lucas installed basement bathroom for us as part of our renovation/home repair. During the course of the project he also replaced the underground drain lines from the shower to the main sewer line. This included ripping out all cast iron pipes and replacing the basement bathroom lines underground and the upstairs commode line. After the job was complete I tested the show and it instantly backed up and was only draining a trickle. I called them out he added an extra air vent and lowered the floor drain cover in the shower and said this would fix the issue. I again tested and the same backup occurred. I called them to honor their work that we paid for and was told by Jim Lucas that he was done and the shower not draining was our problem. He then tried to blame the drain issue on me by saying I insisted on putting in a non-working shower against his advice. Does that sound right, I would spend thousands of dollars for custom tile and drain work to have a non-working shower. He then tried to blame my handicap father in-law saying he told him the same thing. Avoid this contractor they do not stand behind their work and will blame defects in workmanship on the owner. I have been left with no working basement bathroom and little recourse since the business owners refuse to correct their shoddy workmanship.

I hired Jim because we had water leaking from a tub and when they came it got worse because they took everything apart and said that they would come back the next day with a part and never did, we had to hire another plumber come out and complete the work

"I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. Your dad said he couldn't be home the day we had scheduled to silicon around his bathtub faucet. We wasn't expecting to change that part at all or I would have picked up your bath tub silicone color. Your dad called and said he couldn't be home to let us in to do it. However that's the faucet I did put on free of charge because he wanted the whole assembly put on. I have personally as the owner reached out several times it would have only taken me 5 minutes to put a 6in bead of silicone around the tub faucet. I wouldn't have minded."
