Poor Boys Construction, LLC

Hired around the beginning of August 2020 to reconstruct for damage due to a flood. Contract included: kitchen island to be reconstructed, new granite countertops, new vinyl waterproof flooring (owner provided) throughout the majority of the house including baseboards, and drywall repair. From the beginning the scheduling was not organized. The employee/owner would not communicate with each other when it was told to them times they couldnt come. The bones of the island was rebuilt, then the flooring was installed (by employee Josh and Joshs girlfriend) Jaymon denied that the employees girlfriend was working, however all 4 tenants observed. Baseboards and transitions and drywall for the island was put off until we made a hard statement it needed to be done by labor day weekend. I had to come into town labor day weekend to ensure this was completed. We specifically stated Thursday WAS NOT a possibility as both the tenant and myself were working from home that day and couldnt work around the interruption. However their employee, Josh, texted at 9am to explain he was on his way. When the owner finally came as agreed on Friday, it was pointed out SEVERAL planks that were raised and air bubbles as you walked across the new flooring. They tried to blame it on the the fact that owners supplied cheaper under-layment, which Poor Boys DID NOT use throughout the house. They only REMOVED all the blue tape we had placed in most of the areas that had issues and left this safely hazard where it remains and our tenants are continually cutting their feet. During labor day weekend they installed the transitions and the countertops. Upon signing the contract, I did offer granite countertops that I had already been able to find, they would only have to fabricate, they declined and stated they would provide. On the 11th hour they DIDNT have the granite, so we got stuck with cost difference because now they could ONLY get Quartz. If I could include pictures of the transitions, you would understand immediately the poor workmanship. On the Friday night before they were leaving Jaymon offered a cleaning lady to come clean up behind them for an additional cost, which Should have been included. I declined. the next morning Jaymon states as a favor Jaymon was going to have the * cleaning lady * come and Jaymon would pay the fee. The * cleaning lady * ONLY painted the baseboards (with flat paint which makes clean up a pain). We did at the time pay the contracted amount as we felt we wanted to do the right thing and pay and assumed Poor Boys Construction would do the right thing and follow up on the existing issues. When our tenant would communicate the existing issues to Jaymon , Jaymon stated because we didnt pay the job in full (there were add ons) our warranty was null and void. Jaymon Cleary NEVER communicated with us as the owners (who is responsible for the payment) that there was an issue. Basically he was trying to BULLY us . After several attempts to resolve Rodney, an owner/investor in Poor Boys Construction, stepped in and met our tenant to go over the issues previously stated, and additional issues found after. He stated he would send us (the owners) an email with the plan to resolve. after MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS NO CONTACT HAS BEEN MADE BY ANY REPRESENTATIVE OF POOR BOYS CONSTRUCTION.

They were good, punctual, and always showed up! I would hire them again!
