Portlock Drywall

Mr. Gerald and his team were very punctual. They showed up early for the project, which was to drywall the entire garage. The price was much lower than I expected to pay, probably because I've never priced drywall before; however, they complete the job in about 3 hours. Very thorough, clean and neat. I will definitely hire him for future projects, if needed or recommend.

I hired Gerald to tape and sand a room and a half bath. His quote came in a little bit higher than average but, it seemed reasonable. He was available the next day and taped most of the room. It was odd that he didn't just finish - they got there at 10 and left at 3. It looked pretty rough and I was worried. After it dried, he had his guy come back to sand and then add more mud to finish off. It still didn't look that great. Then Gerald came back a third time to sand again and 'clean up' but, he also added more mud. I had to ask specifically to smooth out rough spots that should've just been done as part of a normal job. After a closer look there are tons more I have to sand out and he left me a lot of cleanup. Along the way he fed me bullshit about 'hot mud' that you can sand after 30 minutes and 'primer that gives you a level 5 finish'. It's bullshit. Good drywall pros can tape a room and a half in one day and sand + cleanup in a half day. The work is mediocre. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Portlock wall did an excellent job. The work crew arrived plan the project, I came be 4hrs later sheet rock was hung beautifully. The next day taping texturing . Man I was so satisfied. Thanks Gerald for a job well done.

Ge did a quick fast job, problem: did not complete for detail and ready painting (I wanted the wall smooth because it was for the kitchen and walls were not smooth even though he claimed they were 'SMOOOOTH') DID GET THE JOB DONE QUICKLY. Finish detail was not as expected. Boyfriend had to complete and sand walls smooth for painting.

Portlock Drywall was hired to install Quiet Rock sheet rock to help me in eliminating noise from my upstairs neighbor who has hardwood floors. They did an adequate by sloppy job installing the drywall, leaving several soft spots which needed repair. Also, it was not until the completion of the project that they mentioned to me that the Quiet Rock would not work very well at diminishing sound b/c I did not have insulation in my ceiling. It would have been VERY useful for them to have mentioned this before they did the installation! Also, I never received an invoice or work order for the project even after I emailed them several times.

Plaster work was good in some areas but a bit sloppy in others, specifically hard to get at locations such as around light switches and within closets. I ended up refinishing some of these areas myself. I said yes to recommendation but would be sure to point this out.

I highly recommend Portlock Drywall. I have an old house that used to have terrible plaster cracks but thanks to Gerald and his son, my home looks better than new. So professional, fast and realiable. I would rate 6-stars if I could!

Gerald was very responsive and followed up with me which earned him the business. He was very personable and we were happy with the speed at which they completed the project. I would recommend him for future work.

Mr Portlock was on time and completed everthing that he proposed to do. the work was neat and cleaned up on completion. Thier work was satisfactory and I'm happywith the outcome.

Wasn't satisfied with the work. Had to call him back to redue the wall, because it was poorly done the first time, the tape was visible, nails were not covered properly. I hope these rating are kept private from the contractor.
