Handled all problems and made good on their commitment which, as it turns out, required considerable effort on their part. There was never a question that they would make everything right!

The roofers did a good job, but the owner was impossible. He did a "low ball" bid on me--first he gave an itemized bid where the numbers didn't add up (underbid by $1800) which he planned to tell me later. Then he claimed I told him there was only one layer of singles to remove, which wasn't true. I have 5 other written estimates and all of them say in writing "remove two layers of shingles" because (1) I told them that's what was needed and (2) because they being professionals looked and saw what was needed. So that was another $1400 surprise. He also tried to claim I need the entire roof re-decked ($$$), but his own crew looked and wouldn't support him on that one. When I argued about these additions (30% cost overrun) to the bid, the owner threaten to pull the crew off the job leaving me with a partly covered roof during February in Ohio. He called me a liar and almost dared me to sue him. Then he pulled a final, petty move. The garage was supposed to get a "roof ventilation system" which includes both a ridge vent and soffet vents. He refused to do the soffet vents, so now I'll have to do them. This is nickel and dime stuff just to be a jerk. He also left the gutters full of roofing debris. He said he'd come back later but at that point I just wanted to be rid of him. If you hire this company, you need to fight hard to get everything in writing in advance (the owner was grudging about making any wording changes to the bid) and be prepared for the worst., I am so glad I forced him to add "house and garage" because I suspect he would have claimed he wasn't responsible for the garage later. The sad thing is--he didn't need to be this way. If he'd been honest from the start, I'd probably be reasonably satisfied. As is--forget it, I'd never recommend him to anyone.
