The concrete driveway that Mal poured for us began deteriorating within 5 months, developing multiple cracks that have continued to expand even as new cracks develop. In addition, the concrete surface is spalling and pitting and the borders are pulling away from the main driveway. We have reached out to Mal several times over the past 7 months. He said he would fix or replace the driveway, but he has ignored requests and now is dodging service of process in our lawsuit. The cost of our driveway was $9,500 and it now looks worse than the driveway we replaced after less than a year. Total rip off.

He poured the concrete on two days, leading to a two-color appearance. But most troublingly, within 5 months of the construction, 5-6 cracks (each 3-8 feet long) over multiple slabs developed. I informed him immediately and sent pictures. So far I have set up three appointments to look at the damage and discuss potential remedies. Unfortunately, has not shown up a single time. His tactic apparently is to run out the warranty time. So I sit with this new concrete driveway with cracks. I have filed complaints with BBB and MN Attorney Generals Office. I would not recommend anyone to hire this contractor.

I have been trying to get Preferred 1 to honor their one year guarantee for that last 3+ months. I have cracks in concrete driveway that have widened over this period of time. Contacting Mal is problematic.... Caveat Emptor... Let the buyer beware...

I hired Mal and the crew at Preferred1 Construction to replace my asphalt driveway and front step. From the beginning, I knew I went with the right company. Mal came out and worked with me on the redesign and quote. The communication was excellent, the work was superior and the finished job, well let's just say I am the envy of the neighborhood. My only regret was not getting more business cards from Mal to hand out to my neighbors. Hire Mal and Preferred 1 Construction for your concrete needs and you will not be disappointed.

Preferred 1 Construction did an outstanding job pouring my new concrete driveway. It turned out beautiful! They also completed my new stamped concrete patio which is also amazing. It was fun watching the transformation from an old broken down asphalt and aged patio pavers to the new brushed driveway and stamped patio. What a difference!!!

Mal and his crew did a great job on our driveway, garage floor and patios. They were communicative, on time and on budget. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing concrete work and will definitely have them back for future projects at our house!

Completed work in a timely manner but had to reschedule the start date couple of times.

Mal was outstanding to work with. From bidding to scheduling to installing, everything went off without a hitch. Excellent cleanup after the job was completed as well. Will definitely use them again should the need arise!

They were knowledgeable, prompt and very good about answering questions. My front porch and walkway look 300% better - They explained procedures and reasoning for the way the work proceeded, then made sure to review their work with me before leaving. All in all, a very good experience for me!

They helped us understand the process so that there were no surprises along the way, and that they stand behind their work. Our basement tile floor is just what we asked for. Mal and crew know their stuff. It was important that there be the right pitch to the walkway and driveway to get water to run off in the right direction and Team Preferred 1 did it perfectly without any unnecessary exaggeration. It was great having them do our needed work.

I would like to say that this company was professional, and very thorough. The work was of high quality and exceeded my expectations. I was very pleased with the outcome.

The team did a fantastic job installing my exposed aggregate patio. The final product really was perfection and Mal and his team were very professional. My only complaint was that the estimate we agreed upon went up when I got the final invoice. Preferred 1 Construction worked with us on this, but in the future I would want to have a final bid ahead of the work to ensure the scope didn't go up without my approval.
